Meg Whitman Spends $163 million to Lose the California Election
Locust Blog ^ | October 28th, 2010 | James Buchanan

After defeating Steve Poizner in the Republican primary, it looked as though Meg Whitman would simply steamroll the Democrat candidate. Meg Whitman had been the CEO of e-Bay and became a billionaire in the process. The idea of a successful businesswoman running California had a strong appeal, but an over-managed campaign by inept advisers and Whitman’s inability to take a stand on key issues of the greatest importance to California doomed her campaign to failure.

The individual running against Meg Whitman is none other than aging hippie retread, Jerry Brown, the same bungler who allowed California state workers to unionize, which led to salary and pension deals, that are helping to drive California toward bankruptcy. You’d think Whitman might have mentioned that in a few commercials, but her dream team of “genius” political advisers either didn’t think it was important or they were afraid of offending the union members.

A recent news article reports “Democrat Jerry Brown has opened up a wide lead over his Republican challenger, Meg Whitman, with just eight days left before Election Day, a new LA Times/USC poll has found. Brown’s lead over Whitman has jumped to 13 percentage points. Of the voters surveyed, 52% said they would vote for Brown while just 39% said they planned to vote for Whitman.”

Meg Whitman has failed over and over to make her positions clear on the issues. When the Arizona immigration law SB1070 became national news, Whitman could have clearly voiced her support for it, but instead she produced a bewildering answer that it was OK for Arizona, but bad for California because California is bigger. Why should the size of California matter?

I think she killed herself with playing the victim on the whore comments.

I can't stand democrats, really many Californians for that matter, but when she had the stupid nerve try labeling whore as the W word, I'd have a hard time voting for her.

IF Meg loses, it will be because she was not conservative enough.

“....... if she ran as a conservative as opposed to a wishy washy moderate, and took a stand on illegal immigration she’d be up in the polls.”

Meg is a wishy washy moderate al a Mitt Romney, her pal and political advisor. That said I’m still marking her box on the ballot.......anything is better than Brown......even roadkill.

That is the reason that I haven’t sent in my absentee ballot, and will have to vote in person, I have tried and tried to get myself to vote for Whitman, and I just can’t get myself to do it.

I was already doing a write in for LT. Governor, I guess I will write in someone for Governor as well, I hate doing that though.

Will be interesting to watch Jerry Brown burn the rest of Mexifornia down.. as Meg Wittman warms her hands in the fire..

Meg is a RINO which is to say a democrat.. better Brown wins so the democrats get the blame for it all..

I didn’t know either.

How negative can some people be. They must want Meg to loose. She is a lot better than Brown. Didn’t some said: “ if you want someone to say something send a man but if you want someone to do something send a woman” :-)

“I guess I will write in someone for Governor as well, I hate doing that though.”

Then the liberals’ negative press campaign is working. If the polls were closer, you’d vote for Whitman. See? They won.

So vote for Whitman. But don’t think of it as a vote for her. Think of it as a vote against Brown.

I honestly believe our state will be in better shape four years from now if Whitman is Gov instead of Brown. At least she knows how to run a business.

Actually, we need California to fail for the nationwide collapse to get rolling. America about to reboot. Constitution 2.0 coming up.

So you want Jerry Brown, SEIU, Cal Nurses Assoc , ACORN, to take over and kill the state off with the help of radical Mark Leno ?

You want Prop 13 to be overturned and your property taxes to go thru the roof?

You want massive tax increase ?

You want pay carbon credits ?

What exactly is your agenda in trying to CHEER LEAD for radical Jerry Brown ?

Are you this irrational ?

By law the Democrats have rigged the voting lines so mostly all Democrats have to win.
Then punch number 2 is the growth of all the government employees and their unions.
Lastly all those with their hands out for this or that program.

So many people on the dole that Democrats have a good 38% of the vote before then make a move.
Then unions and other far surpass on their own 200 million to swing voters for Brown like he has no track record and THAT us where we are.

They also get mostly women to vote for all the bonds and propositions that are bad by saying for the children, teachers and police. (a load of garbage)

You are right, the state is doomed.
These people want to ride the state to the dirt with their hands in the state treasury for as long as possible.

They don't care what the next day brings to those left with their damage in the wake of their greed IMO.

She put her moeny where her mouth .as. Though I'm much to the right of Meg Whitman I give her a lot of credit for that and have a distant hope that some of that money will push Carly over the finish line through GOTV.

But California really is hopelessly wed to morons like Jerry Brown and Senator Call me Madame.

I suffer in Ct the same way that conservatives in California suffer. Sometimes life's a Joy Behar.

These polls are pure crap.

Field Poll is a JOKE and a Dem push poll operation.

This poll group had Prop 8 Losing and it won.
It had Arnold losing and he won.

The LA Slime poll is pure garbage .

Who knows when the Ca state media is radically left beyond any other state outside NY, ILL, and MA.
