Bomb-proof tunnel with air conditioning: Obama's security go to extraordinary measures..
The London Daily Mail ^ | November 6, 2010 | Staff

Posted on 11/05/2010 9:04:59 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

* American warships to patrol off Mumbai during visit

* Coconuts removed from trees as a precaution

* 250 U.S. business executives with Obama on 'biggest ever trade mission'

* $200million Asia trip cost denied but the President will have huge entourage

--snip--

It is also reported that a bomb-proof tunnel will be erected for Mr Obama ahead of his visit to Mani Bhavan - the Gandhi museum - on Saturday.

According to Daily News & Analysis, U.S. secret service agents visited the museum on Monday to plan Mr Obama's security during his tour. They were accompanied by Mumbai Police officers and civic officials of the D ward where Mani Bhavan is located. While they were inspecting the route and the buildings lining the path to the museum, U.S. security officers noticed a nearby skyscraper in the highly populated area that could pose a threat. To the amazement of the Indians accompanying the U.S. agents, it was apparently decided to erect a bomb-proof over-ground tunnel, which will be installed by U.S. military engineers in just an hour. The kilometre-long tunnel will measure 12ft by 12ft and will have air-conditioning, close-circuit television cameras, and will be heavily guarded at every point. It's being built so it is large enough for Mr Obama's cavalcade to pass through and will be manned at its entry and exit points.

The material that the tunnel would be made of has not been released but officials said that the structure would be dismantled immediately after Mr Obama and his party leaves the area...

Clinton took 1300 people on an 11 day trip to Africa in 1998 to the tune of $5.2 million per day. Is there any doubt that the 3000 people that Obama is taking will easily cost $20 million per day?

How are they making this tunnel?

Is it a slap up type of structure with two one foot walls that are then filled with sand?

How would they get all that sand in there in one hour?

And we got people here in the US out of work, losing their homes, and either on the verge, or are starving.

I pray, that the GOD of Israel will help and supply the needs for those who are hurting in a miraculous, providential way and let the beast that is this government starve.

They won’t go into details. Isn’t his armored limo already air-conditioned? Why is there A/C in the tunnel?

Wow, a portable bomb proof tunnel. Don’t tell me they just thought of that at the last minute, they had to have taken the materials with them.

Word that. LOL

He’s close enough to Kenya, they should just drop him off at his cousin Odingo’s house.

Pretty sure they will welcome him back.

What exactly are American warships going to do if things get dicey in Mumbai? Shell the city? Send in some cruise missiles? I can’t imagine India being too appreciative of any military intervention even in the case of a terrorist attack on a visiting head of state.

Just a precaution in case the limo's A/C breaks down. You can't be too careful about these things.

If all this is just conjecture, and the Republicans / Conservatives swallow it hook, line and sinker, it will give rise to the belief that all the racists are picking on po wittle Obama.

I'll wait to see how the facts compare to the story line from the unconfirmed sources.

If they actually do build the tunnel, we should name it “The Tunnel of Reggie Love”.

Let’s see:
From Wikipedia
CVBG normally consist of
1 Aircraft Carrier
2 Guided Missile Cruisers
2 Anti Aircraft Warships
and 1-2 Anti Submarine Destroyers or Frigates.

There will also be smaller armed ship for supply, resupply and support roles.

Not out of the realm of possibility there would be 34 ships total whose mission is to support Barry Fauxbama 24 hours a day and on the go, never stopping in a port.

It seems reasonable to conclude that parts of the group would forward deploy as Barry is ferried around on an airplane.

Additionally, it seems like there would be Marine support elements with Harrier and Copter capabilities to support the Presidential movements with elements overlapping so that coverage of Presidential movements would be seamless.

So yeah, it depends on what the meaning of “is” is and how they define what theater of operation they are currently in but still in operational support of the mission.

How many American jobs will be outsourced in the short term and long term due to this trip? I bet you that’s the agenda of why he’s inviting so many US biz leadership to attend. I bet this does incalculable damage to the American job market as Obama will make sure a deal to increase H1B quotas is raised while this country is facing depression levels of unemployment for US citizens. Watch.

Part of controlling the environment completely.

I asked about the structure as there are a couple of defense contractors who make systems like this.

Give me a few minutes and I will get you some links. They are really cool, very portable and highly configurable to suit the mission requirements.

Nope. There are several companies that make these.

very portable and when packed at less than 10% of the assembled foot print.

You basically pull these thing apart, fill them with native material(dirt, pebbles, sand, etc) and they are modular in design meaning you can stack them and connect them like Lego blocks.
