Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm recently went on National Public Radio to discuss her legacy in a state with high unemployment. Granholm blamed much of the state's woes on corporations who "decided to move to lower-wage countries."

"Could the governor of Michigan, no matter who they were, have prevented globalization from shifting manufacturing jobs to low wage countries? No," Granholm said.

The Mackinac Center for Public Policy responds to some of Granholm's comments...

“Could the governor of Michigan, no matter who they were, have prevented globalization from shifting manufacturing jobs to low wage countries? No,” Granholm said”

So that’s an excuse to keep your job? Same excuse as Odumbo...it’s never on them. It’s someone, something, but never them.

Bad government is why corporations leave. Excess taxation, excess regulation. If the government were able to create a fertile ground for business, business people would flock there in droves.

Michigan is probably lower on the list for businesspeople than Hanoi, so good luck.

Detroit is their shining Capitol city. Once, the richest city in the world and home to the world’s richest and most prestigious industry - the Automobile Industry. Detroit like the auto industry has been run into the ground by Democratic leaders and unions. Detroit’s population has been halved, and home prices are between $6,000 -$7,000.00 dollars.

The last Republican mayor of Detroit was elected in 1957.
(The last Republican Mayor of Detroit, MI was Louis C. Miriani. He served from September 12, 1957 to January 2, 1962. He was Detroit’s 63rd mayor.)

Granholm blamed much of the state's woes on corporations who "decided to move to lower-wage countries."

The alternative is for consumers to turn to lower-priced vehicles than the ones produced by $100,000 per year union goons.

And you'd still be in the same fix, unless you get card check.

One thing you are wrong about. Detroit’s population is less than half of what it once was.

Taking another look at Detroit... why would anyone in their right mind invest in that dump?

Look at the level of taxation!
83 mills in Detroit!!! For what???

So let's say I want to build a $10million factory someplace.
You propose Detroit. Right.

So the first person through my door is the tax collector with a bill for $830,000.00 in property taxes... before I have even earned a single dime. Next, I have to hire people... in Detroit... a bunch of uneducated, illiterated welfare sloths... good luck. They will be climbing over the razor wire at night to rob my offices faster than they will apply for any job openings.

Foreign wages have little to do with it... failure of the Democratic government is the real problem.

Don't believe me?

Has Michigan ex-Governor Jennifer Granholm decided to go back to her “roots” in Canada? Perhaps they'd have her?

Ooops. No such luck, Jenny. Even the Canadians aren't buying incompetence such as yours any more.

Try Hugo Chavez. I think Venezuela has an opening in the Ministry for Economic Development.

Same excuse as Odumbo...it’s never on them. It’s someone, something, but never them.

What amuses me, in a mordant kind of way, is this excuse is exactly what Major Burns was accused of the original MASH: "It's always God's will or somebody else's fault..."

I'd call that a chicken coming home to roost, given the line was supposed to reflect conservative arrogance and blindness to reality. Turns out conservatives aren't the arrogant blind ones, doesn't it?
