I hope not. He has been a disappointment in the Senate.

Not very familiar with either, but I believe I’d go with Paulenty if I had to pick one. He has been a governor, and I believe that not only did he serve a full term, he also got reelected. He might even bring home the electoral votes from Minnesota, which would be a big plus.

No, he sunk Bolton at the UN while in a snit over the BRAC’ing of an airbase in South Dakota.

I don’t think either one have much of a chance- Thune has no name recognition outside of NW Iowa, and PawPaw is a little to “green”.

I don't really have a big problem with Thune but I don't give him much of a chance. Pawlenty is Romney-lite so I don't expect him to get anywhere. Still anything can happen. Nobody saw Huckabee winning Iowa in 2008. Who knows what surprises await.

What’s “BRAC’ing” mean?

I think we're all the same page here... not too keen on Thune or Pawlenty.

If forced to pick between the two of 'em, I probably go with Pawlenty. I used to like him (if the worse stance he's ever taken is endorsing "global warming is man-made" hokey, then he's far better than most of the GOP field), but I soured on Pawlenty when Al Freaken stole Minnesota under Pawlenty's watch. IMO, he could have been a contender in 2008, but in 2012 he'll be old news.

No conservative should seriously consider Thune in the primaries after he joined the RATs in killing Bolton's nomination by endless delays. At least they genuinely opposed Bolton's beliefs, whereas Thune lynched a fellow conservative out of a desire for pork. Disgusting. I'm really hoping Bolton seeks the GOP nomination himself, if for no other reason than to expose this ugly fact that Thune's fan club wants to sweep under the rug.

But yeah... we definitely need better options than Thune or Pawlenty in 2012. I'm glad to see they're way down in polls. Hope they stay put.

Defense Base Closure and Realignment.

Thune basically pledged to oppose Bolton unless the Pentagon kissed his butt and kept an unused airforce base in his home state. In short, political hostage taking and blackmail. This was at a time when the RATs were on the warpath against Bolton and we needed every Republican on board. Bush was forced to recess appoint Bolton because of Thune & Voinvoich’s defections, and Bolton’s career never recovered.

Here here.... Bolton would get my vote, and I’d be willing to do the whole ‘broken glass’ thing!!

Another plus is the fact he isn’t be talked about in the big media. That means he’s a true conservative that would win!

Base Realignment and Closure Commission-—it’s the committee which chooses the military bases that are to close and those that are to remain open. The committee makes its recommendations, and Congress has to accept either all or none. It was conceived as way of passing the buck in order to shield individual congressmen from the wrath of their constituents if a base in their district was closed.

"...Bolton would get my vote......he's a true conservative..."

NOT.

About 10 days ago, he was on Judge Napolitano's show on Fox News. said he had no problems with TSA scanners & gropes, then said it was "much ado about nothing."

Needless to say, the Judge didn't agree, nor do I, nor do most conservatives.
