Military won't extend benefits to gay spouses? Obama and Biden address gay marriage issues
Metro Weekly - Washington, D.C.'s Gay & Lesbian News Magazine ^ | December 25, 2010

Posted on 12/25/2010 2:30:04 PM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

''The partners of gay service members will not at this point be given any special rights or any rights that parallel those of a spouse.''

Bernard Rostker, described by NPR as the former Undersecretary of the Department of Defense for Personnel and Readiness, and someone who's been studying ''Don't Ask, Don't Tell'' for 17 years. Here, Rostker responds to a question about whether the spouses of lesbian and gay servicemembers will receive benefits. Now that DADT is officially on the way out, his opinion of pending Pentagon policy is that the military will not recognize gay partners for marriage benefits. Unmarried heterosexuals do not receive military benefits either, it is reported. (NPR)

The difference is that gay men and women can be legally married in several US States and the District of Columbia, but the discriminatory "Defense of Marriage Act" has barred any Federal recognition of these legal unions since 1996. Military benefits include access to the on-base commissary as well as medical care.

Obama has said that DOMA, in his opinion, needs to be repealed as well, but in an interview with the Advocate earlier this week, he seemed to indicate that the next, more conservative Congress won't be likely to pass such a measure. Obama himself has made numerous statements in recent years only in support of civil unions for gay men and lesbians rather than marriage. This week, the President reiterated that position.

''With respect to the issue of whether gays and lesbians should be able to get married, I've spoken about this recently. As I've said, my feelings about this are constantly evolving. I struggle with this.

''I have friends -- I have people who work for me, who are in powerful, strong, long-lasting gay or lesbian unions. And, they are extraordinary people. And this is something that means a lot to them, and they care deeply about.

''At this point, what I've said, is that my base line is a strong civil union that provides them protections and legal rights that married couples have, and I think that's the right thing to do.

''But I recognize that, from their perspective, it is not enough. And I think this is something that we'll continue to debate, and I personally am going to continue to wrestle with going forward.

[Tapper: But the military is not going to recognize civil unions.]

''I understand, and as I said, this is going to be an issue that is not unique to the military. This is an issue that extends to all of our society. And I think we're all going to have a conversation about it.

President Barack Obama responding to Jake Tapper of ABC News who asked at a press conference: "Is it intellectually consistent that gays and lesbians should be able to fight and die for this country, but they should not able to marry the people they love?"

''I think the country's evolving. And I think there is an inevitability for a national consensus on gay marriage. That is my view. But this is the President's view -- but I think that it is evolving.... And I think you're going to see, you know, the next effort is probably going to be to deal with so called DOMA [Defense of Marriage Act].''

Vice President Joe Biden speaking with George Stephanopoulous of ABC who asked for his opinion about President Obama's statement about marriage for gay men and women. (ABC News)

So, if a couple of soldiers, both the same rank, decide to become lovers do they get to room together?

Sure why not, there is no sense or reason anymore. It is all perverted and twisted, nothing makes sense. That is the purpose of the whole thing. Ask Lady GaGa she'll let us know.

Granting benefits will surely serve that goal. Those queer “spouses” will all get medical benefits and their AIDS and HIV will be taken care of forever. HIV/AIDS will become a major military expense and start to displace spending for things like arms and stuff.

Consider this, homosexuals are known for promiscuity and domestic violence. In the tight knit military communities, particularly in military family housing, such behavior will be exposed. Most Commander's won't risk the morale issues by failing to punish such crimes. Even the perception of unequal treatment can destroy unit cohesion.

This might shine a bright light on their lifestyle that cannot be ignored.

I was always told that if a guy kisses another guy and he gets aroused then he’s gay.

I think Andrew Dice Clay defined homosexual and clarified bisexual.

Is it intellectually consistent to claim those who engage in homosexual sex qualify for anything special simply because they choose to engage in homosexual sex? What of those who like sheep -why can't they marry sheep? What of the asexuals -why can't they marry themselves?

Ohhhh... The moral relative humanity! The truth twisted like a pretzel by the community organizer messiah of homosexual sex...

Just because one can fight or die for this country does not mean this country has to accept any and every disordered activity they choose to engage in as something of value to be cherished or something legitimately premising societal recognition and privilege. Just because emperor wanna be Obama places value in homosexual sex means nothing!

Mr. Obama you are a clueless idiot supported by useful idiots -get over yourself you marxist twit.

That's exactly right and with the coming of Obamacare you know that sooner or later AIDS treatments will be classed as too expensive in relation to their effectiveness right along with a whole lot of much less expensive things.

If, however, queers can dodge the Obamacare sanctions by serving a few years in the military, they're home free. They know the military expenditures for medical care are going to be a lot more difficult to cut and are going to be exempt from the same regulations as others governed by.

The democrat fascists were positive that having an all volunteer military wouldn't work. They just knew that people didn't really want to serve and defend their nation so having an all volunteer military would lead to ever shrinking forces no matter what we needed or sought. They also were sure that the quality of the force would decline.

Go back and read some of what passed for "deep thoughts" on the fascist side of the isle in the seventies and you'll see what I mean. Ever since the volunteer military has proved to be a success, they've tried again and again to find ways to undermine the military, reduce the number of people who will be attracted to service, dictate lower quality volunteers be accepted, and everything else they can think of to make our military less capable. This is just another of their assaults on the military with that same goal as the real motive, not the "equality" of opportunity they harp on.

Regards

Plan on huge costs for the taxpayer to follow as we give AIDS medical care to homosexual “spouses.”

A decease caught by a personal act, that is avoidable, is already considered an SSI disability, thanks to the dead POS from Massachusetts.

Yes they will.

The CIC will order it so, as he did with Federal Employees.

Just more toxic waste issuing from 0bastard and his associates. Toxic waste, filth, garbage. If the incoming R controlled House doesn't act with courage and complete unconcern about what the leftists and media think, we've gone through all the boxes except the last one.

Every society that has openly embraced this perversion has crumbled... we cannot and will not be any different if we do not reverse course, and soon.

When you try to “normalize” homosexuality, you will always hit a wall. It is a turning inside out of all that is right and good... it can’t be done without full and complete corruption, which is exactly what evil is all about. The evil wishes to turn black what is white, to dirty what is clean, to kill what is alive and to mock the design of God.

The Democrats know that they don’t have the military as a voting block. After the repeal of DADT now comes the move to unionize the military. This is the Democrats’ attempt to take a voting DEMO from the GOP.
