And his buddies just watch!
This is why government agents don’t want citizens to record their actions,
and why the citizens MUST retain that right.
So what is happening with this, do you know?
Right now we have a couple of cops caught on video tape on trial in B’ham for a similar arrest procedure.
There is more to this story than meets the eye - this was on the local news a lot last night and the station owner where this happened told the story. They guy was obnoxiously drunk and causing a problem in the station, he told the guy to leave with his friends. He then proceeded to cause a ruckus for his friends and they asked the station owner to call the police. What you cannot see in the video that witnesses who could see the whole thing testified to is that the guy kept grabbing the officer’s ankles trying to knock him down and that is why he kept hitting him.
the video speaks for itself.
So in your mind trying to defend himself against a beating jusifies continuing the beating rather than an arrest for disorderly conduct?
No idea. If I were to guess, I'd say nothing will happen to the cop.
“What you cannot see in the video that witnesses who could see the whole thing testified to is that the guy kept grabbing the officers ankles trying to knock him down and that is why he kept hitting him”
Bad juju for the drunk. Keep hitting him.
Sorry, if he is GRABBING the cop, that’s an instant *ss whoopin’. The cop doesn’t know what the drunk is going to do. And he shouldn’t have to risk his life to find out.
I back the blue, but I also don’t cotten to “bad apples”.
Sounds like this officer was just trying to protect himself. Drunk was lucky. Could have received a fatal dose of lead poisoning.
This is a racial thing, right?
DWB or something...
In my state (Maryland), the police will raid your house and confiscate the tape. Jack-booted cops don’t that don’t act within the law should be exposed. Their behavior not only hurts the actions of good cops but to civil liberties everywhere. I wonder if the suspect had been black if more coverage of this event would have occurred? Just a thought.
‘An insult on the King’s soldiers is an insult on the King himself. ‘
Question: Can you try to stop the cop and not go in jail for 1 a million years?
My first reaction was that the video was a setup. The cop wasn’t acting angrily, so it looked like he was just “acting”, swinging so as not to hurt his friend; the tapers would be in on it, and they arranged it so you couldn’t actually see the person on the ground, to make it easier.
I know it wasn’t fake — but the fact that it looks fake indicates to me that the police officer was not reacting angrily to the guy telling him to shut up. I wouldn’t be surprised if the baton hits were to the guys arms, in order to get the guy to let him go.
One cop, dealing with a drunk teen, surrounded by three other guys who look like they might be strong enough to attack him. He has limited options at that point, and swinging the baton the way he is doing it seems rather mild, but leaves him in control if the other guys decide to rush him.
If there were two or three other cops there, I might feel differently about it, since they could control the situation and he could get on his knee, control the guy, and cuff him.
But in this situation, no way the cop can go down to control the guy, because the other guys could then jump him easily.
In much the same way as the chinees rocket launch off the west coast. Seriously, we can’t SEE anything that is happening, so your mind has to fill in the blanks. You will see what you want to see.
You just don’t understand. The jack-booted thugs are evil. The drunk should grab the jack-booted thug’s gun and shoot the jack-booted thug. Would serve him right.
Indeed, despite what you see
Before too long we’ll all be living like Anne Frank.
