If the left-wing is sincere about toning down the rhetoric, they can start in their own house with the president they voted into office. Beginning with his 2008 campaign for president, Obama has been using the kind of rhetoric conservatives have now been accused of encouraging the Arizona massacre with. He told a Philadelphia audience in the fall of that year how he would counter Republican attacks: If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun. This was preceded by his now famous comments to a San Francisco fundraiser in the spring of 2008, explaining that low income rural Americans are bitter and cling to their guns and their bibles.

Aw, blame it on the nefarious suggestions of that wascally Rahm Emanuel, the dead fish guy. Now that he’s exited the White House picture for the sake of seeking a royal seat in Chicago, all should be sweetness and light in the Oval Office, eh? (Riiiiiiiiight.....)
A real leader would hold a press conference and say simply “STOP” without pointing fingers at anyone.
Unfortunately we don’t have honest leadership.
Obama to His Followers: Get in Their Faces!
Obama on ACORN Mobs: I dont want to quell anger. I think people are right to be angry! Im angry!
Obama to His Mercenary Army: Hit Back Twice As Hard
Obama on the private sector: We talk to these folks so I know whose ass to kick.
Obama to voters: Republican victory would mean hand to hand combat
Obama to lib supporters: Its time to Fight for it.
Obama to Latino supporters: Punish your enemies.
Obama to democrats: Im itching for a fight.
Accusing Sarah Palin and TEA Party of inspiring murder is NOT inflammatory?

This is a comment from a reader of Prager Zeitung, a German language newspaper published in Prague:The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency.
It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president.
The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails America . Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince.
The Republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool.It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president.

The violent rhetoric of 2 well respected Chicago area professors who happen to live in the same neighborhood as our putative POTUS (and even babysat for their kids):
Bill Ayers (1968): Kill all the rich people! Break up their cars and apartments! Bring the revolution home, kill your parents - thats where its really at!
1969 - Ayers attempted to extort money ($20,000) from the Vietnam Moratorium Committee. When a member of the Moratorium group asked Bill Ayers what he really wanted, To kill all rich people, Ayers responded. When another peace activist pointed out that Ayers himself came from wealth, he answered: Bring the war home. Kill your parents.
1969 (December 27 to 31) Weathermen hold a War Council meeting in Flint, MI. Bernardine Dohrn comments about the Charles Manson-led Sharon Tate - LaBianca Murders Dig It! First they killed those pigs, then they ate dinner in the same room with them, and then they put a fork in pig Tates belly! Wild!
