Jon Stewart, a comedian who has used the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 as political fodder to mock Republicans, has been appointed to the board of directors of the National September 11 Memorial & Museum.
New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg introduced Stewart to the board this week, while Memorial President Joe Daniels explained why they chose the polarizing comedian:
"Jon Stewart is an incredibly important figure in today's news media, but he's also a New Yorker who felt -- as we all did -- the world changed in a matter of minutes on September 11. Since then, he has taken a definitive stance on so many issues that relate directly to our organization's mission of commemoration and education."
Stewart quickly made jokes concerning his appointment:
"Luckily for me, it appears as if they've done 95 percent of the hard labor on this. So I'm hoping to help in any way I can offer... I'm like their intern at this point."

Hey, let’s go back in time and put Goebbels on the BOD for the Holocaust Museum!
LOL!
Or, a fat blonde twit with a degree in Art History will be treated as a serious political commenter just because of her last name.
I believe that’s what that Restoring Sanity rally was about in DC after the Beck rally. It was for Trust for the National Mall on whose board a bunch of lefties sit. This 9.11 memorial is a project of the Trust. I can only imagine the revisionist history going along with this project.
Paris Hilton got fat ?
Now Jon can prove how much he loves the Muzzies, and maybe they’ll be nice to him and not set off bombs on his workplace doorstep.
Send in the clowns!
New York: The theater of the absurd.
An insult to 3000 dead Americans.
I used to think Jon Stewart was funny.
I had failed to find anything on FR using keywords, but I guess I did not put in the right ones. At least you have put on a link. I suppose with the weather in New York, people have bigger things to deal with. One would think there would be demands for an inquiry.
Imagine the efforts of little kids and others fund raising, then these greedy individuals writing their own cheques.? Sometimes I lose my faith in human nature. Not that I trust one, Jon Stewart.
I had posted on the previous thread, so I found it using “My Comments.”
I think “victim memorials” are a sign of a nation in decline. Once, the public wanted to associate themselves with people who had done something - gone to fight in the war, at least. Now, the emphasis is on people who were in the wrong place at the wrong time.
When you realize how deeply evil they are, it’s hard to laugh.
