GOProud Party Breitbart’s Proudest Hour
PajamasMedia ^ | February 10, 2011 | Roger L Simon

Posted on 02/12/2011 12:42:10 AM PST by Nickname

The party staged by Andrew Breitbart for GOProud — the gay Republican and conservative group — was as close to a game changer as things get and the most interesting event at CPAC by far, at least to this point — and that’s meant as no insult to CPAC. With sexy Sophie B. Hawkins singing to a boisterous, supportive crowd, the party almost obliterated in one night the conception that Republicans are anti-gay and gave the impression that young libertarians — and some not so young — are taking over the GOP. Pretty soon it may be cool to be a Republican and square to be a Democrat.

Well, maybe that’s what I wanted to see and wanted to feel, but the atmosphere was certainly there Thursday night at DC’s Eighteenth Street Lounge. People wandered the club’s corridors in wonderment at it all. No, there weren’t any leather biker studs or other accoutrements of the more outre gay scene, but there was as much acceptance of our modern world as at Democratic Party events, especially national ones of the scope of CPAC.

Does this indeed mean that libertarianism in its various strains is taking over the GOP? Again, that is possibly wishful thinking (and I wouldn’t want it to be that brand of libertarianism that seems to think the common defense can be accomplished with BB guns in someone’s garage), but there are indications across CPAC. Again, maybe this is anecdotal, but I’ve hardly heard much talk of abortion or other social issues at the conference — and when I have it seems vaguely discordant or anachronistic. Most people wanted to discuss the economy or the looming dangers of the Muslim Brotherhood. And, of course, who would be best to put Barack Obama out of office.

and get a few others on board we otherwise might not like to get rid of obama,

I take it that you are referring to kissing the behind of GOProud in order to get votes. If you are, why not think this through. Homosexuals are 2% or less of the population. Most of them are liberals because they get what they want from them. But let's say half, 1%, are conservative. Are you ready to chuck your values and principals to get 1% of the vote?

And make no mistake, GOProud is pushing the homosexual agenda. I can post links if you want them. They are NOT Conservative.

I would vote for serials killers, arsonists, and madoffs over obama in 2012 if forced to.

Unless we get rid of this maniac in 2012, we might not even have a country left, let alone have the time to discuss who we are going to get to vote for the gop.

Look, politics is a vile dirty business, and seems to get worse, for me, my main interest is in beating Obama. If we have to suck it up, no pun intended lol, and get a few others on board we otherwise might not like to get rid of obama, to me the trade off is worth it considering how bad this admn is.

That is what community organizers do -that is how they operate. Such a political organizing effort in not one founded upon principles or leadership it is one founded upon identity politics, victims versus oppressors, coalitions of the special interests -all this with a promise of a piece of the pie based upon their special need.

This type of politics is catering to the special interest politics. It is premised upon finding what they want and promising you will give it to them IF you get the power to do so. In its simplest sense it is manipulation.

What you describe as a necessary political evil is the left to a tee! You want to be like the left?

Principles are the ONLY thing separating the protection of individual rights from the destruction of coalition mob rule.

Since when are conservative community organizers? Do we need to cajole each and every special interest by giving them what they want in exchange for power?

No one is stopping those that choose to engage in homosexual sex from joining us -no special treatment will be forthcoming... If they want that THEN the left will accommodate.

That is a choice for the sodomites not conservatives.

They will vote for whom they please.

In the meantime: PURGE THE PARTY

I’m just saying - I have shed all notions of getting my ideal candidate in 2012 - and am resorted to the fact that nasty crap may have to be done to get rid of the communist destroyer Obama.

Am I happy about it? NNNOOOO

But we simply cannot accept a bama second term.

I’m looking at this like our supporting Saddam in his war against iran.

Good, when we get a 90% decent candidate, and the 100% club stays home in protest, we can thank you for two more kagans on the court, $10 gas, etc.

The official Libertarian Party platform is all homo agenda points, no restrictions whatsoever on drugs, porn or prostitution.

The LP is really the ultra fringe kook anarchy wing of leftism.

I had an epiphany several months back regarding representative government in general and subsequently the politics that premise it.

Politically, all are not going to agree on all things and therefore it is only upon the important foundational principles that a lasting and strong coalition can be formed.

As far as governance, except for the unalienable and Constitutional, when there is no clear consensus at some level of government THEN that is by default evidence that there is no role for government at that level on the issue -these things are best left up to the States and or the individual -always decided as local as possible.

If the GOP is to adopt these basic principles AGAIN it will require kicking GOProud to the curb.

I can't stand the fact that the marxist still has two years left. I vomit at the thought of four more after that.

Regardless, we are NOT a totalitarian regime with an omnipotent tyrant at the helm -that, in my opinion is what will save us ASSUMING we continue moving in the right direction as afar as the States and as far as elected representatives.

We are not in an all or nothing bid for a supreme leader and THAT is how we should look at it. It took a while to get here and it will take a while to turn it around and head back into the right direction.

The power resides in the people NOT the executive. The people as such will not compromise foundational principles for an executive privilege that is but a perversion of our very founding; e.g. the people will not accept homosexual sex normalcy to prop up an executive... The establishment tried that with McCain

Homosexuals are free to vote for who they want. They do NOT have to form identity groups in order to vote. Again, they are ONLY 2% or less of the population. GOProud was formed SOLELY to push the homosexual agenda and for NO other reason.

Those who consider themselves libertarian are latching on to the GOP in the same way communists latched on to the Democratic Party to advance their agenda from within an acceptable political brand.

Nailed it...that is how 'Free Staters' are worming their way into the New Hampshire State Legislature...they are running as 'Republicans'...

a little melodramatic aren’t you, I would expect that off homosexuals but come on this is a conservative site socially and fiscal.

You're implying I'M homosexual? If so, you haven't a clue, son. I like women. I've been married to a particular woman for 23 years. And I plan to stay that way.

I know FR is a conservative site. That is why I am here.

That has absolutely nothing to do with my point about allying with libertarians to reduce the size and scope of federal government to its Constitutionally enumerated powers. Which is a good plan, but you can't bring yourself to admit it.

nothing to do with I can’t admit that we should join with libertarians it has everything to do as others have pointed out to you that libertarians need to get their own convention that they are socially liberal
hell I’ve talked to one who said on here he had no problem with a daughter marrying her father or them ahvingt sex or a human having sex wiht animals and then getting married

sorry but if you want to join with those like minded folk then by all means but I’ll stay on the side of the conservative side
