In major reversal, U.S. agrees to rebuke Israel in Security Council
Turtle Bay ^ | 2/16/11 | Colum Lynch

The U.S. informed Arab governments Friday that it will support a U.N. Security Council statement reaffirming that the 15-nation body "does not accept the legitimacy of continued Israeli settlement activity," a move aimed at avoiding the prospect of having to veto a stronger Palestinian resolution calling the settlements illegal.

But the Palestinian's rejected the American offer following a meeting late Wednesdy of Arab representativs and said it is planning to press for a vote on its resolution Friday, according officials familar with the issue. The decision to reject the American offer raised the prospects that the Obama adminstration may cast its first ever veto in the U.N. Security Council.

Still, the U.S. offer signaled a renewed willingness to seek a way out of the current impasse, even if it requires breaking with its key ally and joining others in the council in sending a strong message to Israel to stop its construction of new settlements. The Palestinian delegation, along with the council's Arab member Lebanon, have asked the council's president this evening to schedule a meeting on Friday. But it remained unclear whether the Palestinian move today is simply a negotiating tactic aimed at extracting a better deal from the United States.

Will someone explain how the United States benefits from its relationship with Israel?

Benefit? Define benefit. Do you think that the Muslims will leave the US alone if it abandons the Jews? They hate us more than than Israel.

Thanks Dubya-M-DeesWent2SyriaStupid!. There's the other shoe dropping. "Burn us on Israel, we'll burn you on the budget."

Or, Zero knows his fellow party members, and is going to use these different crises to sunder the US-Israel relationship while giving his Jewish enemies in the party a Hobson's choice.

But they better hope we don’t get another term for the Kenyan - and on that score, they could have some influence on a core democratic voting block.

Of course, their hope is ours as well; and it is critical that we don't have Obama, Inc. of course.

That said, I hope even that we have the choice and that Obama has not eliminated our options for Election, 2012. We know all too well, that he is sooo into the alternative MO's of governance power.

I just didn’t think it could turn around here this fast. Yes, I’ve come to see the GOP as useless, gutless wonders. But there was one previous time when at least Schumer got pushed too far, and pushed back (at the Obama administration). Where is he today? Have we heard from Lieberman [not that Obama would listen to him]? Is everybody on board with this? It just doesn’t seem possible...but where is the outcry?

Soon I will settle down enough to pray. Right now I just feel jittery and weirded out. Enough of this horrible dream; I’m ready to wake up and get on with normal life.

Agree. . .'nonads' in a word. At the same time, of course, we have an enemy Party that is all but frothing for a fight revolution - in the streets. A Progressive dream; we know. They tear up watching the world protest; they want it so bad, here. Obama is brave, pushy and daring. . .in America's face; he/they want the punch; and they want to punch back, hard.

Joe Biden would take Obama’s place. Biden is not (very) evil, but he is amazingly stupid.

Biden & John Kerry are living proof that most politicians are incredibly stupid and that political office is mere "popularity contest". Also in the case of most of them character & integrity are optional for the post.

Yes, Jews are not the only useful idiots. But, of course, they don't have a country to defend; a history and a future.

(No question, the Christians/Catholics are on the hate/kill agenda.) And not sure what the Hollywood elite imagines is 'their' place, on the jihadist 'expunge list'.

Biden, two different classes of ‘stupid’. Kerry’s latest gag moments, this week in Pakistan. Think at least, Biden, suspects the worst and pretends otherwise. Kerry, OTOH; totally invested in his inauthenticity.

God as my witness, Jan 20, 2013 CANNOT come too soon. Heaven protect us, Heaven protect Israel.

I still pray we get the cretin out before then, but with out that... I am almost counting the minutes.

What is most atrocious is that this was reported in POLITICO (as I posted the link)-as a blog with a elusive title keeping it in bloggerland. As well as this very forum moving this to blogger.
I thought it was understood and known here that most credible (what the Obama admin is really doing) news, is obtained from overseas or blogs? Obama’s holiday recess appointments allowing the DOJ to cease the NBP case went by seemingly unnoticed.

The US does a lot for Israel, what does the USA get in return?

Israel is an ally. It is part of the defense of the US presence in the region. The fleet takes leave in Israel, performs joint exercises with its air force. Stores weapons on Israeli soil. Business, weapons tech, medical tech, and other types of research is shared between Israel and the US. Then there is the value of the friendship itself. Many Christians and Jews are very involved in the survival of the state of Israel. Is the value of friendship equal what the US gets in return? I think it does. Others say it doesn't.

You will get arguments on both sides. On FR, more. On other forums less. On some forums, none.

Don’t pray that God is on our side.

Instead, pray that we are on God’s side!

“So. is American Jewry waking up - or not.”

The short answer is “NOT” - not now, not ever.

American Jews absorbed communism with their mother’s milk.

To all who are waiting for American Jews to get (or buy) a clue about communism, better pack a large lunch. Your wait will be as long as those who wait for Godot.

Obama has sold out Israel. Wonder at what price. He claims to support 'democracy' in Egypt. Then turns and attempts to destroy the only real democracy in the whole cesspool that is the ME.

As far as the UN goes, it was flooded with sewage a short time back. The worse stink comes from within its chambers.

Israel hasn’t stood this alone in a long, long time...

I know that many, if not the majority of Americans support her. I pray the Lord takes that into consideration when considering handing out His judgment.
