Kathleen Parker, Sarah Palin and the End of a Media Career

Kathleen Parker is now out as a television personality at CNN. John Ziegler has a theory about why, besides being on a competitive time slot with the horrible Elliot Spitzer as a co-host. It seems she had struck at the Queen and failed to kill her.

The Queen being Sarah Palin, of course.

"But the primary reason why the program couldn't work is also the very reason Parker got the gig in the first place. She was clearly hired because she was perceived as a 'conservative' who was willing to vigorously attack Palin, while not holding any particularly strong conservative opinions which might offend the largely liberal CNN audience. It is hardly a secret that the best (and perhaps only) way for an unknown or career-challenged conservative to achieve mainstream media acceptance is to be a sellout to their supposed cause (just ask Arianna Huffington, Peggy Noonan, David Brooks, David Frum, Michael Smerconish, or Joe Scarborough-to name only a few).

"Criticizing Palin (along with endorsing Obama) has quickly become the most reliable path to instant notoriety/credibility for ambitious 'conservatives,' and Parker became the poster child for this phenomenon. When I went on CNN during my film's first release, I was actually asked to respond to a Parker quote about Palin. This was especially absurd because Parker had no special knowledge of Palin and was virtually unknown before she 'led' Palin's 'assassination.' Had Parker praised Palin, CNN would never have found the quote remotely newsworthy.....

I had no idea Kathleen Parker was a conservative.

Then again, I never watched her show and don’t watch CNN at all anymore since Lou Dobbs went off the air.

Kathleen Parker: Attractive. Sarah Palin: Attractive. The difference? One connects with the people, the other only connects with mindless perverts. Kathleen Parker fades to black...

Kathleen Parker exuded vitriol that was based sole upon her personal ambition to get ahead at Sarah Palin’s expense.

A lot of that going around. The folks who use this strategy, whether they are in news or are politicians, are cutting their base adrift. Terribly short sighted.

Don’t be so sure. When I first saw her column in the Nineties, I thought she was a ditz, not knowing her ideological bent. When a friend pointed out one of her columns, I said, “She doesn’t have a clue who Hayek and Taft are; she probably thinks she’s conservative because she clips coupons.”

You know, I really don't understand what they're thinking. Even if I couldn't stand Sarah Palin, why the heck would I alienate such a huge chunk of the voters who love her.

You would think a professional politician would finesse this much better.

I keep thinking I am missing something, but I don't get what it could be. Some of that "third way" thinking maybe?

When a show in prime time garners less than 400,000 live viewers who cares what the woman or the man says?

The Parker/Spitzer show is a bust and the only reason that cnn is still on in America is that it is being subsidized by the revenue from its international group.

cnn is bleeding cash and piers morgan is drawing less than larry queen, dead.

faggot 270, barely breaks 350,000 and the only one that on rare occasions beats chrisy girl is wolfy blitzer.

When you are being pummeled by Sargent Shultz, Larry odonnell and the skinny, ugly little guy that's on at 9:00 PM your network is in the tank.

cnn can forget FOX, that can't even beat utube.

Parker has had her 15 minutes after receiving her 40 pieces of silver.

Parker continues to slide into the Rino cesspool which is the gateway to Rino Hell on Earth.

Personally I think it is because they live in a bubble have no idea what flyover country thinks and doesn't care to learn. They read the NYT and hear Morning Joe say Palin is finished, they believe the skewed polls etc.

Like the Nixon election no liberal could understand how Nixon won because they didn't know anyone that voted for them. The ones that attack Palin IMO are simply showing they have no clue what the nation thinks.....

It really doesn't make any sense if that's not the case.
