Lt. Col Hugh W. Daley, USAF (Ret) died today in San Diego at the age of 90. He was my brother. He joined the AAC in 1941, went thru B29 pilot training and then got bumped to navigator/bombardier school because of pilot overflow. Flew multi missions from Guam, Saipan,Tinian to Japan during 1944/45. Stayed in the USAF Reserve for twenty plus...was the RI Liaison to the Air Force Academy. Hell of a guy...I'll miss him. Anyone inclined can send a card to : The Daley Family 1235 River Glen Row San Diego, CA 92111

Prayers for your family.
Heroes are hard to come by, especially given the over-use of the term today.
This was a true hero and thank you for sharing his story with us tonight.

Condolences. It's the Hugh Daleys of the world we can't afford to lose.
"But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: for men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away, for his name is Obama."

Condolences on your loss, but remember that as long as you remember him, he’s not dead.
Also know that there are a multitude of people out here who appreciate what he did and the man he was.
*hugs*

He truly was a hero. When I passed through Guam flying on C-5’s I would often think of what it was like to fly those missions in World War 2. Those B-29 crewmen were the first to find out what a jet stream was-—the hard way. They didn’t know at first why a river of fast headwinds was up there in the stratosphere robbing them of groundspeed and fuel! The engines on the B-29 would often fail or catch fire. Every drop of gas had to be conserved—they barely had the range and duration to fly from the Marianis Islands to Japan and back.

My prayers are with his family and yours. America has lost a hero for sure.
