Once in a while, the lazy and arrogant lamestream media gives us useful information, usually by accident. Today was one of those days. Let's take a look at these interesting morsels from the Associated Depressed:

About 2.4 million people died in the United States in 2009 — roughly 36,000 fewer deaths than the year before."

AND---

"Death rates declined slightly for 10 of the 15 leading causes of death, including heart disease, cancer, stroke, accidents, Alzheimer's disease, homicide and influenza and pneumonia."

Well, gee, that's odd. Didn't the 2+2=5 Democrat party spend all of 2009 telling us how terrible health care was ? Let's take a stroll down Memory Hole Lane and look at some of the propaganda that the Dims spewed:

In this bout of mental illness, Olbermann claims to cite some study from Haw-Vard that stated 45,000 people die every year in the US because they lack health insurance. The funny thing is the study didn't come from the Pinkies Up Crowd at Haw-Vard. It came from a group called the Physicians for a National Health Program (PNHP), a left wing group dedicated to inflicting single payer health care on the United States.

The bottom line is this: The Democrat Party is full of crap. Obamacareless in nothing more than a socialist power grab.

Yes, I know, I'm not being civil, I'm a partisan hack, blah, blah, blah, I hate the poor, yadda, yadda, yadda. But am I wrong ? According to the Associated Depressed, (Which is often like the Greek Chorus in the Democrat Party's Greek Tragedies, so this isn't exactly "Right Wing propaganda".) we're living longer, healthier lives. Now call me crazy and off my meds, but if the health care situation was as bad as the Commie Chicken Littles on the left would have you believe, wouldn't we be living shorter lives ? Wouldn't the deaths from heart disease, cancer, strokes, and the flu be on the rise and not on the decline ? Granted, it took me two tries and a whole lot of bribes to pass Statistics in college, but I know a mathematical trend when I see a see a mathematical trend.

Obamacareless is NOT about improving health care, it's about redistributing it. As the Wall Street Journal's Betsy McCaughey wrote in 2009:

In other words, Sarah Palin is right. The Dims want death panels that will determine who will live and who will die. (Yes, Medicare needs to be reformed, if not done away with altogether. However, it has to be done in a responsible manner that doesn't include some government bureaucrat like Donald Berwick pretending to be Josef Mengele.) If that isn't bad enough, Chairman Obama, Everyone's Least Favorite Kenyan Socialist, even openly admits that his hated health care plan is nothing more than a socialist wealth redistribution scam. The main point I was attempting to make is that the Dims are nothing more than lying dirt bags. I think this article proved it.

I’ll give you this: Some of the reasons why we’re so low on the chart is the fact that we eat like crap, a lot of us do drugs, a lot of us aren’t physically active, etc. (For the record: I eat like crap, and I get winded typing. I’m getting long in the tooth and proud of it.)

You do realize that not all countries use the same metrics to calculate life expectancy, right? Some of the ones with the highest numbers don't include infant mortality, which definitely skews the figures. Here's an old but revealing document about the issue of life expectancy comparisons:

The U.S. has the highest life expectancy in the world once you remove violent deaths, i.e., deaths due to auto accidents, homicides, suicides, injuries etc. Violent deaths may say something about the state of U.S. society, but they aren’t a particularly good indicator of the quality of our health care system.

We likewise lead the world in cancer survival rates for a broad range of cancers, and are consistently in the the top 3 countries in survival rates for newborns in various low birthweight categories (the only countries that beat us are small Scandinavian countries with far more homogenous—and generally healthier, lifestyle-wise—populations.

If it truly were the case that the best medical care were abroad, we would see wealthy high-profile patients such as Ted Kennedy or Tom Daschle’s brother going to Canada or Europe to get complicated brain surgeries. We would see high-level officials in Canada remaining in their own country for free care rather than flying to the U.S. and paying out of pocket to obtain better quality care.

In short, the life expectancy figures are a highly misleading indicator of where the U.S. health care system really stands in terms of overall performance.

By 2017, all of the new agencies will be thriving, the congressional GOP will be "on board" as their ability to reward their friends will explode, and medical and nursing services will be down the toilet.
