The Coupon Whisperer: Cheap Dog Food and Some Great Body Wash Coupons
The Coupon Whisperer ^ | March 22, 2011 | PJ-Comix

If you live in the Southeast, you're in luck. Starting Thursday, Publix will have a BOGO sale on 4 lb bags of Kibbles 'n Bits dry dog food. They normally sell for $4.99 but when you apply the $2 coupons from the Feb. 20 Red Plum they will only be about 50 cents each. This would be a good time to stock up on it. For only about 30 bucks you could have enough to feed your dog for a year.

However, if you don't live in a Publix area, there is still good news. This Sunday's Red Plum insert will have Axe shower gel coupons for Buy One Get One Free (BOGO). The only problem is that I have yet to see a store offer this item BOGO but there is always a first time. Even better news is that the April P&G insert will have a BOGO coupon for Gillette Body Wash and those I have seen BOGO in the stores so using your coupons on this item, you will get them for FREE.

When using these coupons please be warned that there is a danger of DESTROYING OUR CIVILIZATION according to You-Know-Who. She even compared couponing with credit card fraud and theft. Hmmm... And WHO is issuing those coupons and WHO is encouraging us to use them?

I had a heads up on the next two weeks of Walgreens deal and so far nothing that gets me too excited. However, not to worry. The good deals always return.

Finally a bit of sad news. As of March 16, Walmart quit accepting Walgreens Register Rewards. That sure didn't take long.

My wife has (20) $2 off Kibbles coupons and we have several Publix around here. And our dogs are partial to the Homstyle and Bistro varieties. Plus, our new/reclaimed 2nd kitchen/pantry is only about two hours' worth of work away from being ready for stocking in case of a nuclear war, so we're gonna be good to go.

"But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: for men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away, for his name is Obama."

I did you one better, picked up a bottle of AXE gel for free left in the shower at L A Fitness.

It's too gel'y, have you noticed?

It stays in the jel form too long & most of it slips right off your body & slithers away down the drain like a rabid red snake!

Maybe by design to help move more product?

Walmart screwed me over. I am going to have hundreds of those $5 register rewards.

I don’t have a freaking clue as to how I am going to use them up. Walmart pulled the rug out from under me.

It’s going to have to be some combination of the Colgate Money maker (with the 1.50 coupon) and something else.

Thank goodness the Almay doesn’t take up too much room because the Tena money maker is a space hogger.

Rite Aid’s got a deal on the Axe. It’s 2/$9 with $5+UP when you buy $15. So, buy 4 for $9 with the BOGO coupon, get $5+UP and they’re a buck a piece. A bit pricey for body wash if you ask me, but nobody did.

BJ’s has the Purina One Beyond (better for the dog) for $3.99. Use the $3 coupon from the 3/13 SS and you’re looking at $.99 a bag. Not as good as the free Beyond cat food, but decent for good dog food.

BTW, now some dude is cursing you over dog food. What is it about these threads that attracts these weirdos?

Not all dog owners can afford to pay for more expensive brands of dog food.

Would you deny poorer conservatives the companionship and loyalty a good dog provides simply because they were unable to afford the “best” dog food, in your opinion?

While I do not condone the language and tone of Tigen’s post, he does make a valid point.

My MIL is a breeder and shows dogs for entertainment (she only has one litter a year, if that).

She has dealt with a lot of dog owners and breeds over the years and the vast majority of skin issues and other problems can be cured by using a better quality dog food.

Dogs can have serious allergies to the crap put in their food. The symptoms usually show up as red spots on the skin or crusty ears, but can also be more confusing. Many vets will mis-diagnose because of the random nature of the symptoms.

Purina One is generally pretty good, and they have enough variety to determine what the allergen my be (chicken, wheat, corn, etc). They are reasonably priced compared to the boutique brands that can cost twice as much.

Tigen, I happen to agree with you in the matter of cheap commercial dog kibble vs canine health. But you know, there is no need to belittle the OP. The Coupon Whisperer info is courteously provided for you to use (or not). This is a thread & obviously a ping-listing dedicated to saving money.

There *is* a doggie-ping list. I notice you are not on it. Perhaps you would like to join us at the most recently pinged thread?

You obviously have a strong opnion to contribute.

Not to hijack this thread regarding dog food quality BUT:

You are wasting your money feeding your dog a product like Kibbles & Bits or any other low priced dog food. You are also increasing the amount of excrament you will need to clean up.
Do not feed your pets any brand that the main ingredient is not beef, lamb, chicken or pork. Dogs can not digest corn and other grains and therfore they just poop them it out.
The most expensive brands cost more money per pound but you do not need to feed your dog as much.

I noticed WAGS had very little in this weeks Fish Wrapper. And they didn’t give me my $3 RR (Razor) when I bought one of their products that had it, BECAUSE I used the $3 coupon from Sunday’s Fish Wrapper.

There is no where in the ad that says they don’t do that, that I’ve found. Needless to say I won’t be going back to that WAGS, it was a new one for me to shop at closer to home.

So what should I do if this comes up again?

Now Rite Aid honored a $1.50 Butter Finger (Rite Aid coupon) fun pack, which they didn’t have on hand, with the Easter egg ones..so I got 2 bags for the price of 1 as I had 2 coupons. Made my chocoholic hubby happy. :-)
