As I was skimming posts on here, I noticed the many complaints about blog pimps. My own blog is not at all political, so breathe a sigh of relief, you won't see me posting any articles on here from it. :)

But, sometimes when I get a down moment, I like to see what others have written.

So, if you have a blog, feel free to post your link and what it's about here.

Blogs are not the problem. It’s bloggers needlessly excerpting their blog articles to get blog hits that is the problem. FR is not meant to be a free advertising platform. Blog articles are fine if posted in full. :-)

I don't know if I speak for anyone else but it's not people posting content from their blogs, it's they excerpt the post just to get blog hits.

More hits equals more advertising impressions and bucks for the blog pimp.

More posts equals more backlinks which means better google ranking which means more hits and more advertising impressions.

If these folk have something important to say post the entire thing.

The way appropriate blog posting is generally done is that Bloggers post full copy articles - not excerpts - in the bloggers forum. Posting in the wrong forum (News/Activism) or posting excerpts of your own blog and driving people away from the FR site is considered blog pimping and is severely frowned upon around here.

A word to the wise is generally sufficient. We don't want to drive good conservative thought off of FR. But we need to fight a recent surge of people using FR as a launching pad for click-through marketing attacks. This kind of abuse is unfair to our volunteer donors that keep FreeRepublic.com running.

I like to see blogs, too.

Preferably posted in their entirety here, so that it doesn't appear that the blogger is using FR to fish for hits.

There are some well-written blogs out there.

If the bloggers don't pimp them here, instead posting the whole article for our perusal, I'm much more inclined to visit their sites.

You should post anything you please from your blog. Just don’t post enough of it to be a “teaser” to get people to hit your blog...that’s Blog Pimping.
