Palin: Woman to Woman
self | 4/5/11 | Susan D. Harris

Posted on 04/05/2011 7:29:30 PM PDT by JKeats

Conservative women who hate Sarah Palin confound me. What has especially alarmed me has been the amount of women who hate her as a woman. I know that is the reason, because – and this is the important part – when you ask them WHAT “scares” them about her (a favorite “Halloweeny” term used in place of the word “hate”), the answer is the same from conservative and liberal women alike. “She’s so dumb.” How? Uh, crickets chirping.

I know some conservative women who hate her, and they themselves are very much Palin. They should look in the mirror.

I admire and respect Sarah Palin, and I am a conservative woman.

A conservative woman who says Sarah Palin is dumb, is not a conservative woman.

"Some of it is jealously..."

All of it is jealousy and envy, yes even from real conservative women (though I'm not certain there are as many of us as claim.) Many of the gals I know who claim to be conservative aren't very, they are either on social issues or rarer still, financial issues. The rest I hear from ask such things as, "Did you see Oprah (Katie, etc.) today?" It's hard to speak with them on more than superficial "conservative" issues.

Yes, many were all for Palin when McCain tapped her to "prop him up," er be his running mate. That is until they saw more and more of how really special she is, then when libs really got scared and began to attack her on everything (mostly because they are in sheer terror of her), going so far as to make her the featured "star" on SNL week after week. Then the "leaks" from the McCain campaign doing "hit" pieces (out and out lies) regarding her "demanding" expensive clothing allowances for her and her children, etc.

The facts are that many people, even those claiming to be conservative, listen to, give credence to the MSM and want to be on the "popular side." This points to many of the so-called conservatives who get elected and turn into RINOs - the desire to be accepted by the "popular people."

The "conservative" women who refer to Palin as dumb, stupid and other terms, are envious of Palin for her beauty, her accomplishments, her happy family. They are also very intimidated about the fact that she delivered a baby that she knew would be handicapped......and is considering all to be a blessing from God!

The fact is, most women do not give other women a pass, especially when they are viewed to "have it all!"

Women claim that they "want to be taken seriously" but that's hard to follow when one realizes just how petty they are and how disloyal they are to their "own."

Part of the “hate Sarah” mindset may be reflected in the poll that a majority of women look to government for their security. Palin does not; she says that women should look to their own security and not to some glorified nanny state bureaucrat.

Who cares what you think if you don’t respect what women feel.

Only a woman would say that. Or think there is any logic to it. LOL

Erm, if I remember correctly, the only way to prove your innocence was to sink and then drown.

You don't remember correctly. The ones that sank were pulled out alive.

The trouble is that most people float. Even those of us who aren't witches....

I haven't met a conservative woman who likes Sarah Palin in fact they hate her because they think she's a fake.

You've really got to stop hanging around with liberal witches, and get out and meet some real conservative women.

Try a Tea Party meeting. I'll bet you'll run into at least a couple of them there.

“Women are always catty one way or another against other women.”

That’s why I work in construction. Not too many women there.

Could be but I don't accept that "most of American women" look to the government for their security.

There again, I, too, don't fall into that category: I look to the U.S. Military and even my local police for security (except that I also "carry") but I believe that the government is more to be feared than counted on when the chips are down. I have had some encounters with the IRS so that has skewed my thinking.

Again, the so-called conservative women usually believe in "global warming," "carbon footprints," think that kids games should not keep score and desire "world peace."

What counts as conservative for men usually does not equate for many, if not most women!

I was astounded at the number of women who called Al Gore "cute" during the 2000 election.

Why did they think he was so cute?

Because the media told them to think that. They "think" like a school of fish.

And it isn't just women. Your average swing voter votes out of ignorance and is more likely to be swayed by Jay Leno than any thoughtful consideration of the issues.

Good points. The poll (I'm not sure, but I think it was Gallup) didn't deal too much with methodology of the poll.

Typically, polls like this over-sample Donkeys by a considerable margin. My guess is this is a “push” poll to bolster the Donkey socialist agenda.

However, we still have to take it into account that two generations of school kids have been indoctrinated to love big government and socialism as the cure-all for the world's ills. That's very scary to me.

On the flip side of that, some conservative women also resent Palin having a job and not staying home with her children.

****

MY evil and always ill-informed MIL made a statement like this about Palin one time ...got all nasty and said “Palin should have stayed home to raise her kids.” Gawd - this coming from a so-called liberated woman. I was nauseaous from the hypocrisy.

Great write-up.

People who hate Palin, people who are “scared” of her…they scare me. Perhaps, just perhaps, Sarah Palin is a litmus test for good and evil in the world. I mean that literally. I have never met anyone who hates Palin who I would trust or want as a friend. I didn’t start out using Palin as the barometer, but it has been an odd incidental finding along the way.
***********

They scare me, too. And I also feel the same way about my friends — ALL of them like Sarah. The people I don’t enjoy being around ... you know the deal.

Your article really speaks to me. You should send it in as an editorial elsewhere ...perhaps to Peggy Noonan. The idiot.
