If Donald Trump Becomes President, how Will he Address Homelessness? (Left knows 0 is done)

Besides the political brinkmanship played out with the federal budget negotiations this past week, the talk of the town in Washington D.C. has been about who will run against President Obama next year.

The Republican Party has been shaking their political trees across the country in search of a perfect candidate. Look who falls from the political tea leaves of expectations; Donald Trump, the New Yorker who exudes money and excess. With his perfectly coiffed hair, he embraces a TV camera like it’s a stack of gold bricks.

One wonders what a President Donald Trump would do to address the rampant growth of homelessness in this country. Such a thought is not a far-fetched idea since in the early 1990s this pop icon of wealth was nearly bankrupt. He could have been one of those broke celebrities crying to TMZ about how he was homeless.

But not Trump. He fought back to regain his wealth.

At the basement of his career, when he owed a billion dollars to debtors, the rumor was he was walking with his daughter and pointed to a homeless man telling her, “See that bum? He has a billion dollars more than me.”

Perhaps his description of a homeless man as a bum is a window into what a Trump Administrations approach to homelessness would be.

A few years before Trump teetered on bankruptcy, a group sent to him a Canadian newspaper article with a picture of a homeless Canadian sitting on the sidewalk reading Trump’s book, “Trump: The Art of the Deal.” Trump sent the man a check for a $1,000.

Good Trump, Bad Trump

Would the altruistic side of this billionaire influence a Trump Administration?

Could those of us on the frontlines of homelessness imagine seeing President Trump house the nearly one million homeless Americans in his hotels, residential properties, resorts, and office towers? Could we see him converting his golf courses into land for affordable housing?

I could just imagine the white collared professionals being evicted from Trump’s $290 million Trump World Tower so that homeless persons could be moved in.

I could see his gold-looking hotel towering over the Las Vegas strip being converted into permanent supportive housing.

Of course, any new shelter or housing development would be named after him. The Trump Homeless Shelter of New York. The Trump Rescue Mission. Trump Homeless Towers.

With his insistence that our current President release his birth certificate, perhaps a President Trump would demand that every homeless American would have to carry their own birth certificate if they receive services or housing.

Who knows what could happen.

Perhaps the American people might just tell him, “You’re fired!” before the Presidential campaign even begins.

They just aren't sure who will take his place. They think they've destroyed Gov. Palin (and maybe they have) but they must know that Barry is toast. Oh, and how about improving the economy so many people have jobs and aren't homeless, Joel? It's not the government's role to build homeless shelters.

Not a bad idea.

He shouldn't address it at all. It's not a federal issue. If some feel there is a need to address it, do it at the state and local level. Or better yet, get government out entirely and leave it to charities and religious organizations.

Same ole gimme gimme mentality. I’m so fed up with human beings thinking that somebody owes them a living with nothing required of them. Dear Lord, if anyone wants something let them get to work and earn it.

Yeah, I think Zero has about zero to 10% chance of becoming elected again. All you have to do is take it to him and he’s toast.

I don’t think they have destroyed Sarah at all. I think that Sarah, right now, is just laying low. She’s biding her time, studying the issues, making a plan and waiting. She’s conserving both energy and resources.

In her mind, it’s all to the good that Trump is taking the heat right now. For one thing, he enjoys it, for another, due to his wealth, prominence, resources and personality, he is uniquely qualified to be the gadfly that goads Obama into tactically unwise decisions that she can later exploit.

And, if it turns out that Trump, by virtue of destroying the Obama pestilence, gains the nomination, I am positive Sarah will support him cheerfully. He may not be everything we want in a President, but he’s lightyears better than what we have now.

I would suspect Trump would do more to alleviate homelessness than Obama has done, since Obama’s policies have actually led to the problem.

“...the rampant growth of homelessness in this country”

I don't want to make light of folks who have run into misfortune, and given the vagaries of our government, misfortune is an ever growing part of daily life. But homelessness has been growing in its rampancy since I was a teenager, and yet I don't see folks camped out in our parks and on our sidewalks. I think the growth is not in homelessness, but in those who make big business of shaking down the government using this as an excuse.

Oh, they are out there in growing numbers. Do a quick Google search for “Tent cities”.

No he is not. He wants to put fully armed troops on the border.
However, he might allow some kind of amnesty to the millions that already here. I'm not happy about that either.

“yet I don’t see folks camped out in our parks and on our sidewalks. “

you’ll see that out on the west coast and here in Florida. Most of them are career panhandlers with drug and booze problems.

That’s funny, he told BOR that we should pick and choose which illegals get to continue breaking the law.

He’s a charlatan telling people what they want to hear. Kinda like Obama but I thought conservatives were smarter than Obamabots but apparently I was wrong.

John Stossel has been showing a piece on FOX Business News where he went out pretending to be homeless. He was making about $150 a day without getting in peoples faces begging. That’s $225 if you were paying taxes. Not bad for pretending to be homeless!
