AFSCME Union Threatens to 'Weaponize' Government Jobs
Andrew Breitbart's Big Government ^ | April 18, 2011 | Kyle Olson

It’s becoming clearer that the “public service” mentality is quickly slipping way from government employees, if it didn’t hit the exits a long time ago.

Instead of government employees serving the public, it’s clear now their belief is that the public exists to serve them. And if the public doesn’t step up, there will be hell to pay.

Why else would a government union president threaten to “weaponize” the jobs of his members? At the latest union protest in Lansing, Michigan, AFSCME president Herb Sanders explained to the Lansing State Journal:

If necessary, we will use the valuable public service jobs that we perform as a weapon and shut this state down.

(VIDEO AT LINK)

You can just feel the love and appreciation for the privilege to suckle at the public teat, can’t you?

There needs to be a real, straightforward way to deal with such behavior. One of the signs that I laughed at most in Madison was “I am irreplaceable.”

No, you’re not. Everyone is replaceable. Everyone can become a liability when their perceived value outweighs reality.

The fact is, Herb Sanders’ members are very replaceable and the state of Michigan, and every other state with a union-held gun to its head, should have ways to replace them – quickly.

I once belonged to this hideous union and they're worse than anything that's reported.

"Why else would a government union president threaten to “weaponize” the jobs of his members? "

I thought it was just Republicans who used militaristic/combative/threatening language??

That's all I heard after the Arizona shooting.

Of course, we also heard our president talking about civility, too. A do-as-I-say-not-as-I-do if there ever was one.

These people are despicable. I fear this country is headed for a major explosion.

Settling this at the ballot box seems farther away than ever.

These are some bad and mean people.

It's time to privatize most government jobs. For example, in the city of Baltimore, government cars and buses are often idle for long periods of time waiting for repairs. A private sector business would repair them promptly and get them back to work. They wouldn't even have the huge facilities needed to keep them around.

unionized public service weapons were and still are used in Australia today to make the people of Australia do as the unions want (ummm yes jonny, they are Communist)....

There is No free will in Australian society, it is the will of the public sector unions... Only

Try getting a job without being told, “No ticket (union) No Start”

I am proud to be in the USA, and to pay My taxes, you let the Fed and public sector unions get away with this, and your all lining up for the long walk to the gulag....

Get back to Me if you find out I am wrong.... crickets...

Nothing would be easier than to contract out most government jobs.

This is EXACTLY why it should be criminal for public service work to be unionized...

You should get on the Homer_J_Simpson ping list for daily editions of the New York Times (70 years ago, to the day). It is fascinating to read about the lead-up to America's entry into World war II. That era marked a major communist ("labor union") surge in America, and the labor unions were quick to try to hold America's national security hostage in order to feed their own greed.

Check out THIS RECENT EDITION as an example of the kind of regular daily headlines people were reading 70 years ago.
In the upper right-hand corner:

FORD PLANT CLOSED IN MOVE FOR MEDIATION;150 INJURED; HOUSE VOTES DEFENSE PROBE
Defense Strikes Stir Congress

If you check out Homer_J_Simpson's NYT archive you will see similar headlines from that era nearly every day. Believe me, the union/communist movement had (and still has) absolutely no interest in what is best for America.

These are some bad and mean people.

Only as long as they are breathing. If not, they are a lot calmer.

AFSCME broke into my office building years back and went into an insurance company office banging drums and whistles - until they realized the building used union janitors and they were meant to be across the street.

That was my fist intro to AFSCME and to be honest, that’s my best impression of them.

"If necessary, we will use the valuable public service jobs that we perform as a weapon and shut this state down."

Yep, that'll convince the taxpayer and voter to continue funding your insanity.

Yeah, that's the ticket.

Just this AM it struck me like a blow to the brain that government employees have gone from being servants of the people to rulers of the masses. In every local government office clerks and operators are churlish when dealing with the public. They are vested with permanent positions that cannot be taken away. They are as gods.
