It’s not just the over 45 year olds. Could the 45 year old travel, feed, protect, and attend to the medical needs of his young children? Heck, there’s many 16-45 who wouldn’t be able to physically or mentally or skill-wise take care of just themselves.

As for those on the downward side of the age hill, I’d say they would be sitting back in their easy chair but with the bigger and longer ranged brass.

Smithfield got raided a few years ago for employing illegals. Haven’t bought any of their products since.

I had the same growing up experiences. Learned everything I needed to know from my grandparents. Their other grandkids grew up not having a clue about anything. When it hits the fan, they’ll be that Katrina woman who whined about the bottled water not being chilled down enough. I’d be surprised if they lasted a week.

Me, I staying put. There’s no place like home.

"My sisters and I had the true Mayberry experience. Free range kids roaming the woods and fields around town. Walking down the railroad bed to go fishing with friends at 9 or 10 years old. I fell off my bike way out on the railroad bed and broke my wrist at 9 years old. Sure I cried but I never thought about someone coming to the rescue. I picked up my bike and pushed it the mile and a half back to town. "

Yup.

Sounds like my childhood. You forgot about eating the wild berries and other fruit and swimming in the ice cold creek, etc.

And real baseball. Everybody was on a team and we played pick up games in the park when we didn’t have games.

You’ve got roads that cross each other!

But only two roads in and out. One goes down around another lake with no outside access. One of the Hutaree militia members lives down there.

"...but I don't think we are going there (TEOTWAWKI). Assume the Argentina model."

Agreed on that, and well said. The Argentina default process went really slow. How long it takes for us might depend on how effective our Government's tools for lengthening the time of misery against the scenario of being watched more closely by the rest of the world. ...could be an even longer, slower slide, or maybe more intense currency and trade adjustments will provide a quicker decline. Hard to tell. Our various levels of business and government do have quite a few diplomats.

"I have friends who say that if you know how many guns you have, then you don't have enough."

LOL! Who knows? That could be a good investment for those who can afford it. I love plinking with the old stuff (single action hot rods, levers and bolts! Boom!). ...had enough of high volume small bores in the Army and other duties and too windy and treeless for those up here.

I just want to add to stay away from Oregon. I was in Salem, for several weeks running down a rumor: If one cares to know the truth, look up how much (or little) money Oregon Police Agencies have seized under asset forfeiture laws.

Less than $200,000 for the WHOLE state.

Say what?

I could do that in a weekend in Portland!

Series, you see a woman in Portland with a clear completion and good teeth, she is either a tourist, or someone who lives in Vancouver, WA and just works in Portland.

AND

Here is the clincher... the cops are stealing and shaking down the drug dealers, or they are the dumbest cops in the world.

Anyone remember the Los Angeles Sheriffs "Majors" squad doing the same in the early 1990's?

But the difference is those guys used that money to buy fancy ski boats, motorcycles and toys like that...

But my informants tell me that the Oregon cops are using that money to buy bug Out Locations, and supplies .

Someone has told them that the Pacific Ocean is about to get hit with some super sized meteors.

Remember, these dirty cops are risking PITA prison time IF they get caught. So they still take the risk?

Pass this on to any Preppers/Survivalists groups you may know of.

'Cause if they are this dirty during good times, think what they'll be like in a post -shtf- scenario

Oh, the State Troopers are okay, they are just paralyzed by the system.

So please, get out of Oregon.(Except for Free Traders, globalists - McCain loving folks)

You may be talking about the 9.0 earthquake that is predicted for the Juan De Fuca fault, 60 miles off the coast of Oregon/Washington. See here.

They occur about every 300 years and the last one was in 1700 and the tsunami was recorded in Japan.

I do know someone who moved from Portland to Houston because of the fear of that earthquake/tsunami.

It just goes to show you....It's always something.

Unlike the movie suggests, if Yellowstone 'goes off', most of the population of the world will not survive. That's a whole 'nother ballgame.(Try 2-6 years without any crops, worldwide.)

We might have to do what the pot growers do, but on a major scale, use electric lights to grow food in buildings, caves and underground. If we can find a way to keep the power going, that would be the first step.

You need to remember that as a armed society and one which contains a much more violent crimial and entitlement minded element our collapse is much more likely to be much more violent than Argentina’s was/is. I see evidence in the daily news that in many big ‘blue’ cities you can expect what I call “Pocket pogroms” will be carried out and if you aren’t ‘Amish’ you better be ready to get out and quick!

The scary thing is if you live in an urban area, to borrow from another Freeper, I can't remember who, "your face" (ethnic background) has already "chosen" which side you're on.

I have no empirical evidence to support what I say, but I firmly believe that we well-armed, law-abiding types will be able to quickly put down the rabble.

The “entitlement minded”? If not too fat, then definitely too lazy to pose a serious threat, except for in *massive* numbers. But that’s simply the hypothetical zombie scenario we’ve all planned for anyway.

The “violent criminal” element? Mostly gang-bangers, not the types you’ll see at IPSC or IDPA matches, no frickin’ clue whatsoever how to properly handle a firearm, and the reason why you never go to a public gun range on the weekends, especially ranges that rent out Uzis and the like. Again, quick work.

Not to say it won’t be ugly. But it will be far uglier for them than for us. Even if we’re just a small minority, we’re a serious, disciplined, well-trained minority that can withstand anything that a host of gang-banging neanderthals can throw at us.

Question is, what does the surviving government/military complex do with us afterwards?
