What a sorry gasbag. Do you even feel human before you start running people down? All day long, every day... what a sad existence. I pity you. Truly.

Palin just so happens to be right on virtually every issue, as Reagan was. Like Reagan, she comports herself with great humor and cheer, and just b/c she’s not dull and stiff like Madame Thatcher doesn’t mean that she lacks “gravitas”. Dealing with a handicapped child helps one appreciate the blessings and difficulties of life. Bob

Palin was Governor for 32 months before she resigned to come down to lead the conservative movement and help lead us to one of the greatest electoral victories in conservative history.

One of those victories was to help defeat your (and Bill Clinton’s)) man Trey Grayson in his race to put another liberal GOPer in the Senate.

Taking millions in windfall profits from oil companies and then redistributing it to individuals (who were already getting a check) can do wonders for a governor's popularity.

But, by the time she quit her popularity in Alaska had dropped from about 90% to just over 50%. In other words, almost by half.

I have nothing against you, ODH. Who exactly IS your candidate, if you don’t mind me asking?

That without even a winking announcement and no exploratory committee.

Can't wait til she announces and hits the trail.

"You are clearly trying to sell a lie, Governor Palin governed as the most popular Governor in America"

No matter how many times you say it, and no matter how many straw men you construct, Sarah Palin was not the most "popular governor in US History" - which was the claim of the post I was responding to. It's just not factually accurate, just like it's not factually accurate about George HW Bush being the most popular president in history.

"she left office with 56% approval"

56%? Huh, I would have thought the "most popular governor in American history" would have had an approval rating higher than 56%, especially in a red state like AK. Interesting.

Now, who's lying?

As for current or former governors who are possible candidates, I believe Huckabee was pretty popular, although I don't know what his precise numbers were. Mitch Daniels enjoys strong approval ratings, although I haven't seen one since last year, and Rick Perry is a pretty popular governor. I don't think Pawlenty and Romney would be expected to have much approval at all considering they governed overwhelmingly blue states. There are other long shot candidates, such as McDonnell in VA - a guy who is VERY popular, and Christie, even in the face of fierce opposition, I believe still enjoys an approval rating above 40% - in a state that hasn't gone for a Republican President in over 20-years.

I'm not endorsing nor condemning any of these other candidates, but I am pointing out most enjoy similar job performance numbers as Palin.

I was leaning heavily towards Barbour. Now, I'm not really excited by any of them, with the exception of McDonnell, who is an absolute long-shot to get into the race. I guess I'll have to see who's still left in the campaign when the primary gets to FL.

But, I'll vote for "anyone but Obama", with the exception of Romney. If it's Romney, I'll probably abstain. Daniels, Pawlenty, Bachmann, Jindal, Christie, Perry and Huckabee could probably all beat Obama, or at worst none of them would do damage to the other Republicans on the down-ticket ballot. I think Palin and Newt would perform so poorly, that they'd probably hurt other republicans on election day, making it exponentially harder to take back the Senate.

Not me man... I'm in the "Palin hasn't even gotten started yet" crowd.

The fact that she isn't officially in, and is still giving declared candidate hopefuls fits, says all I need to know about what's going to happen when she finally does jump in.

“Unless you misspoke..... or unless you think Newt can carry the base and in that case....BWAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAH “ ======

Let me break this down for you thusly:
I said, “But if she can’t get her negatives down beyond her somewhat shrinking Republican base it’s a big sweat for nothing.

“..BEYOND HER SHRINKING REPUBLICAN BASE..” means her negatives BEYOND her shrinking Republican base! You know, beyond WHERE SHE HAS NO NEGATIVES AT ALL, but rather and instead an assured coronation. BEYOND means BEYOND the “gimme” territory, you know, where her negatives actually lay.

On Newt: The base of the Republican Party will be electing NO ONE, no matter who we are for. If our nominee can in the General Election can garner the Independents they are in like Flint to the White House.
If Sarah can get Independents she wins. (If she can get Republicans to nominate her over Newt, or others.) There will be cross over voting in primaries this time to nominate a moderate, to my great frustration. bwahahahaha, not.

Have you wondered the obvious, that the msm and the WH are eager to focus like a laser on Sarah? They read the same polls we do and want to run against her. As a BONUS her running inspires their base and Independents run from her.

Bachman is definitely getting some loft. Her tone has become serious, not shrill, and their is some gravitas forming. She is very politically astute and it’s starting to show. I like her.

But will the base leave her when she tries to work with moderate Republicans for the nomination? As you see on this thread they are intolerant of anything less than ideological purity. Bachman will have to play some games to get to the nomination.

Palin was the most popular Governor in America, and as far as we know the most popular Governor in American history, although that is not my claim.

Leaving office with 56% still fits in with that, and is phenomenal after enduring the most horrific, and sustained media attack in American history, that and emerging as such a conservative force on the national GOP ticket, naturally forced the liberals and the democrats in her state to see her as something besides just their beloved Governor. The later polls reflect the reaction from liberal Alaskans that we see in your posts, they had to judge her as a national conservative that could move the nation right, therefore a threat.

Your liberalism and constant attack on the more conservative candidate gets tiresome, this is just like your Trey Grayson crusade, just as nasty, just as dishonest, and just as sleazy.

"Palin was the most popular Governor in America"

By some accounts, Mitch Daniels is the most popular governor in America with an approval rating of 75%. Do you think he'd be a good presidential candidate too?

"Your liberalism and constant attack.."

And your continued insults to people who think Sarah Palin either unqualified for the presidency, or unpalatable as a practical political candidate is BORING.

Everyone who agrees with you = conservative. Everyone who doesn't = liberal.

"on the more conservative candidate"

Sarah Palin raised energy taxes. How is that conservative?

Gov. Sarah Palin’s Record on Taxes and Spending

Save it for some other rube.

Every night David Axelrod prays to whomever he prays to, and BEGS the political gods for an Obama vs. Palin match-up.

As you point out, she's toxic to independents and she is the only person in the field who would fire-up the leftist base.

75% is your big deal? Six points higher than Governor Palin’s lowest point before July 30, 2008, 18 points below her peak in 2007, lower than her 80% in July 25, 2008?

Palin might be the most popular Governor in American history.

Evidently conservatives at FR will always have to be battling your liberalism, how is that Trey Grayson thing going, do you still wish that he had won that Senate seat?
