In an interview on Meet the Depressed, David Gregory accused Newt Gingrich of using coded racist language in criticizing Barack Obama:

DAVID GREGORY, HOST: What, what about jobs? Jobless rate now at 9 percent. You gave a speech on Friday in Georgia, and you said the following about this president:

(Videotape)

NEWT GINGRICH: You want to be a country that creates food stamps, in which case frankly Obama's is an enormous success. The most successful food stamp president in American history. Or do you want to be a country that creates paychecks?

(End videotape)

GREGORY: First of all, you gave a speech in Georgia with language a lot of people think could be coded racially-tinged language, calling the president, the first black president, a food stamp president.

GINGRICH: Oh, come on, David.

GREGORY: What did you mean? What was the point?

REP. GINGRICH: That's, that's bizarre. That--this kind of automatic reference to racism, this is the president of the United States. The president of the United States has to be held accountable. Now, the idea that--and what I said is factually true. Forty-seven million Americans are on food stamps. One out of every six Americans is on food stamps. And to hide behind the charge of racism? I have--I have never said anything about President Obama which is racist.

Here is the racist chart showing a dramatic increase in food stamp participation in the US:

As Gingrich said, Obama is the most successful food stamp President in history. In fact, Obama has taken record welfare spending and increased it by one third. In blind and probably willing ignorance, Gregory has become one more official Obama water carrier in what has clearly become the democrats' overarching theme for the 2012 Presidential election:

Much of the push to elect Obama came from the potential to be able to scream "racist" at anyone who disagrees with him.

See: psychological projection

I just clicked on the comments to bring up Cain but you beat me to it :)
Seriously, I know some may not like Cain (?) but I wish we wouldn’t even have a primary where the repubs beat on each other, just put Cain in there and the whole race thing, which is the only thing they have, and the reason you cant dare question the O, is gone.
Fine America you want a black man, I don’t care (really), just not that one, I want a conservative person first, anything else is second.

United States Department of Agriculture:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supplemental_Nutrition_Assistance_Program

43% of participants are white; 33% are African-American, non-Hispanic; 19% are Hispanic; 2% are Asian, 2% are Native American, and 1% are of unknown race or ethnicity.

Couldn’t find the direct link off wikipedia but there are other studies that bare this out.

It makes since whites are a large proportion of the population.
