Continuing Prayers for my mom, and Cleo

I first want to thank everyone who has been praying for Cleo, my mom's pet house rabbit, in the past couple weeks, up to now.

She is still having a hard time getting back to normal. She has not been much of a drinker, to her detriment. Now that hot weather has hit it's more important than ever she needs to drink. She had surgery to remove a blockage from the junction where her small intestine, large intestine, and cecum meet. (The cecum is an organ like a cow's second stomach, a fermentation vat where bacteria work to extract vitamins and nutrients from grasses and hays.) The blockage was a real hard fecal (waste) pellet, right at this junction. The surgery went well but she hasn't fully gotten back to normal yet, particularly because this junction is healing at the same time it simply has to be working. Rabbits are grazers and eat a little all the time, it's how their gi tract works.

The vet is great, Cleo is getting the right medicines via mom, mom can give her extra fluids so Cleo is staying hydrated a lot more than if she was just drinking on her own. We just need people to pray God will allow her body to heal and her gut to get back to normal. In addition we need people to pray that Cleo will become a good water drinker (water prevents gut problems from happening in rabbits). If you can pray she will get no more blackages and her gi tract will function normal and healthy and regularly that is good, too. Anything you can add to it is just extra blessings.

Mom isn't giving up, the vet isn't giving up, Cleo certainly isn't giving up, she loves life, enjoys mom, takes her sub-q fluids very very well, takes her few medicines well, so it is not a hopeless situation at all. I believe she just needs this extra help physically right now for 2 inter-related things: one, that she drinks enough so that her waste pellets are not so hard they cause another blockage, and 2, that she has enough time for that critical gi tract junction in her gut to heal up so that it allows her waste pellets to exit easily.

Again, I do thank everyone who has prayed for my mom, Cleo and mom's great and caring rabbit vet. I know there are people that have and are praying that haven't indicated so with a reply, and I thank you folks as well.

Prayers for Cleo.

My little 26-yo baby (kittie) left us a few years ago.

“Pets” are as much a part of us as all our other family members.

With the love of your family, Cleo should pull through.

And yes, copious amounts of water are definitely in order.

Thanks, she is a little better, but then she has stretches where she isn’t eating and no output. For too long. The problem now I believe is that the area she had surgery on needs to heal but it is an area in her gi tract that needs to be working pretty much all the time. And the two things are getting in the way of each other.

She just needs prayer that she can make it through the recovery process and get that area healed so her eating and drinking can get back to normal and (I believe) not be as painful as it might be passing her fecal pellets out.

Nobody has given up, Cleo hasn’t given up, she just isn’t normal and right now not eating or pooping for 24 hours or so is very bad for her. She needs to be going pretty much like a few hours after eating meals/munching hay for awhile.

It sounds as if shes in enough pain to prevent her from exercising, which will slow her processes down. I will continue with my prayers for her and your Mom.
