Minnesota Voters to Michele Bachmann: “Just Go Away!”
A Time For Choosing ^ | 6/7/2011 | Gary Jackson

Posted on 06/07/2011 3:04:24 PM PDT by curth

Here’s a interesting poll that hasn’t been reported on. It seems voters in Minnesota aren’t too keen on third tier presidential candidates Michele Bachmann and Tim Pawlenty. Stunningly 45% don’t want their former two term governor, Tim Pawlenty, running for any office, and 47% just want Michele Bachmann to go away!

Ouch!

On the bright side, at least the majority of Republicans support a presidential run by Pawlenty [57%] only 26% can say the same of Bachmann.

From Public Policy Polling:

Voters in Minnesota are not terribly into home state politicians Tim Pawlenty and Michele Bachmann running for President next year. Only 28% think Pawlenty should seek the White House to 17% who think he should run for the Senate and 45% who think he shouldn’t run for anything. There’s even less interest in a Bachmann Presidential run- 14% think she should seek that office to 23% who think she should run for the Senate, 10% who think she should run for reelection to her House seat, and 47% who just want her to go away.

Pawlenty at least has some level of interest in his running for President from the party base- 57% of Republicans think he should run. GOP voters though would much rather Bachmann ran for the Senate (43% think she should do that) than President (which only 26% think she should aim for.)

I haven't seen much discussion about this PPP Poll, but in light of todays events, I thought it might be of interest here.

PPP favors democrats and has been used by the likes of Daily KOS I believe. I don’t put much faith in their product.

I’m not sure but isn’t Minnesota the only electoral state that Reagan didn’t win. He took 49 of the 50 states. What can one say of a state that voted Jesse Ventura as governor and isn’t diaper boy Franken their senator...

PPP sucks big time as most pollers do. I just stumbled across the article and as I said, thought some might find it of interest.

The “trick” they seem to be using is to ask one question with 4 alternatives. This greatly dilutes the positives, which is the result they want. For instance, if I had to choose between Bachmann running for President rather than running for the Senate, I might choose the latter. Of course, I think she should run for President, but that would not be tallied. The 47% simply represents all those who oppose her including Democrats.

Minnesotans don’t seem to have a great track record...

Unless she fires Rollin’s, I would agree.

I’d rather she didn’t run. I would vote for her...but she’d lose.

How can one call T-Paw a “third-tier” candidate? A former governor with no major scandals and arguably some good things to boast about, like holding the budget line vs. a far-left DFL legislature?(*)

Any website that would include that comment is obviously not trustworthy. I may have disliked, say, Huckabee at this point in 2007, but he was not a “third tier” candidate. Ludicrous.

(*— No, I’m not saying Yay for T-Paw. I don’t know much about him yet.)

Right you are. Minnesota and DC never went for the Gipper. Every other state did in 1984, and nearly every other state did in 1980, although that was closer in terms of popular vote.

Minnesotans don’t seem to have a great track record...

Hubert Humphrey, Floyd Olson, Keith Ellison, Al Franken and the DFL are all part of the heritage of Minnesota's leftism.

It's astounding how a state populated with mostly salt-of-the-earth people (at least when dealing with them on an individual basis) loses its mind once entering the voting booth. Apparently the entitlement mentality isn't confined to just blacks and Mexicans since Minnesota is still almost 90% white.

Mondale carried Minnesota by just a few thousand votes in 1984, despite it being his home state.

Wow! What a surprise that the people who didn't vote for Pawlenty or Bachmann don't want them to run for president. This is series and stuning news!

I voted and supported her but now I want her to go away. She works less then a teacher. All she does is beg for money, they call all day.
