Romney vs Palin (Only Sarah Palin can Derail Mitt Romney)
pollinsider.com ^ | June 8, 2011 | techno

Posted on 06/08/2011 7:32:47 AM PDT by techno

...my official prediction is that Obama will be facing either Romney or Palin in 2012. IF PALIN DOES NOT END UP RUNNING, MITT ROMNEY WINS THE NOMINATION.

...If Palin runs as expected, it will be a close race to the finish between the two of them. So why is Palin the only one who can derail Romney?...When voters do not vote Palin...her support drifts to Romney more than anybody else. With Palin in the race, voters will be forced to decide whether to coalesce around one conservative candidate and win, or break apart into multiple factions and hand the nomination to Romney.

"...Palin has a much easier and possibly only, road to victory...she is also the natural beneficiary of conservative voters deciding to get behind one candidate. She is easily the most popular among VERY CONSERVATIVE voters, who are typically the most active at this stage, and Tea Party activists. Because Palin has the largest grassroots capabilities, the best ability to raise funds and has been the leading vocal opponent to Obama for the past 3 years, she is an easy, natural choice.

...Palin helps the entire non-Romney field by keeping Romney in the mid-teens in support and within a close distance to all of the candidates. By not running, she actually hurts the other candidates, and Romney benefits.

Can this change if Palin does not run? Can another candidate step up?

I don't think so. The clear fact is that none of the candidates will be able to raise enough money to take on Romney and will not be able to generate enough ground support to take him on. At this stage, you are down 15 points if Palin is not in. How can you catch up? Huckabee was unable to overcome the same problem in 2008...

The clear fact is that none of the candidates will be able to raise enough money to take on Romney ............................................................ If the Obamaists want Romney to run, I bet they will funnel $$$$ into his campaign to insure he gets the nomination. DC/Chicago politics for sure.

Bottom line. I hope Sarah runs. I am not convinced that Romney would win if sarah does not run anyway. There are some strong candidates like Bachmann that is running which would derail Romney’s coronation. Oh some are disappointed in Rollins running Bachmann’s campaign but she is PRO-LIFE so I give her a big pass on his negatives. Hopefully he learned that dissing Sarah was the wrong thing to do. He should not say a word about Palin until she announces and then only talk about the differences between Palin and Bachmann’s policies ONLY. Rollin should not use his emotions to discuss Palin. Go Palin! Go Bachmann! Either one would be a proud decision for President in my opinion.

Mitt Romney has zero chance of getting the 2012 Republican party nomination. Conservatives want a real conservative this time. The MSM wants us to nominate Romney.

Ain't gonna happen.

Been there done that.

Romney can be defeated by pretty much the entire field.

Contrary to the leftist wet dream, Americans hate the socialized medicine fiasco more every day. No amount of MSM boosterism has dented that and its Mitt Romneycare’s baby as much as anyone’s.

Mitt was squashed and squashed hard in 2008 even before Obamacare made it national.

Mitt isn’t a presidential has been. He’s a never was and never will be.

this is nonsense.

Anything can happen and there are many candidates with a good shot at winning the primary. Romney is not going to win Iowa, so somebody may easily emerge from there (e.g. Pawlenty, maybe even Paul Ryan if he runs). Bachman may also be strong.

Things change quickly. In 2008 it looked like Rudy vs Hillary duel.

Somebody needs to post that picture from the front page of the New Hampshire paper of the day the Mittster announced: small article below the fold. Sarah's clambake dominates above the fold.

If Sarah gets in, Mitt may still win New Hampshire. They let Indies and other squisy people devoid of values vote. They also will get more than a few hard core Democrats declaring themselves Indies just to vote.

So give him New Hampshire (but not by much) as it will be all downhill from there.

I wouldn't underestimate Romney, just as many of us underestimated McCain. When the Party Establishment is behind you, don't kid yourself. It's a tough mountain to move.

I don't see anyone stopping Romney other than Gov. Palin. I hope she sees things the same way.

Heavy weight title match - Sarah and Mitt

Mitt the expected comfortable front runner (Hillary in 2008) and Sarah the insurgent (can I say that?) full of fire (ala Bambi in 2008)

If we wanted Mitt we would have nominated him in 2008. He got beat out by the worst candidate in history, Juan McStain. It’s not going to be Mitt.

Mitt Romney has zero chance of getting the 2012 Republican party nomination. Conservatives want a real conservative this time.

It certainly can happen if conservatives split their votes among 4 or 5 candidates and Romney comes up the middle.

So far the strategy is working perfectly while conservatives fight among themselves while the DC crowd laughs their a$$es off. It's working so perfectly that Mitt is going to take the summer off, raise even more money and prepare to execute the "last man standing" strategy. He and his backers are betting millions that it will work and it's not a bad bet the way I see it.

Just for the record, I despise Mitt Romney.

I’m reminded of William F. Buckley’s run for mayor of New York in 1965. He knew he wasn’t going to win, but entered the race to throw a wrench in John Lindsay’s career, who wanted to be mayor, then governor, then president. Lindsay did become mayor, but that’s as far as he went.

Romney is not a conservative and I hope she keeps throwing wrenches into his works.

The point of the article is that Mitt Romney has the upper hand right now and if conservatives, evangelicals, and Tea Party supporters don’t give their heads a good shake, Mitt Romney is going to be the GOP nominee next year.

And it doesn’t matter how you feel about Romney personally or that you feel he is an inadequate candidate with major flaws.

Bottom line as the article says, you either vote for Sarah Palin next year or you’ll get Mitt Romney.

There is no other choice.
