This shouldnt come as much of a surprise, but comedienne Janeane Garofalo still has a low regard for the Tea Party movement and all just about all other things conservative.
On Current TVs Thursday broadcast of Countdown with Keith Olbermann during the Web extra segment, Garofalo admitted she wasnt happy there were those that despised her for her 2009 remarks declaring the Tea Party a bunch of teabagging rednecks, but she stood by them.
I do not enjoy when people dont like me, Garofalo said. I would prefer to be well liked in any and all situations. And I also feel its quite unjust to be punished for calling racism racism. And I dont know why so few people, especially back then a couple of years ago were willing to say that word.
According to Garofalo, a double standard exists for black politicians compared to white politicians.
If it was a white Democrat, you couldnt get so many Tea Party people so upset whatever it is theyre upset about showing up armed to town hall meetings, she said. By the way, if a black person showed up armed at a town hall meeting where a white politician was speaking, it would be on lockdown martial law and wed never hear the end of it.
Olbermann agreed and said it is impossible to imagine any other reason other than racism inspiring the Tea Party and any other suggestions like fiscal issues, health care, etc. were just disguises for the racism.
[I]t is absurd to me the liberal media trope that has always been a myth that is leveled at someone and unfortunately a lot of people in the media will back away from being perceived as there is no liberal media bias. Theres never been a liberal president. Theres never been a liberal machine in power, per se. And youre quite right anything that the right-wingers are doing, you will know what they are doing by what they accuse their opponent of doing.
Garofalo also indicated she was still hung up on the election of 2000, which former President George W. Bush prevailed over former Vice President Al Gore, after the Supreme Court intervened. But the mention of that SCOTUS decision offered the opportunity for Garofalo to rail against.
Explain that one to me, she said. You have an African-American gentleman married to a white woman who is in cahoots with a group that has a lot of racists in it. Is that Stockholm syndrome on his part? Whats going on?
Olbermann offered his theory which was since the Tea Party will often show theyre diverse movement, the fact that they are offering any defense in itself evidence it is a racist movement, which he offered Thomas marriage to Virginia Thomas, a Caucasian female as an example.
Something that does give me pause is now it may be cynically motivated by monetary concerns on her part, shell align herself with whomever it seems prudent to be aligned with, it just would seems like Clarence Thomas at some point would have some type of dark knight of the soul sign and say Wow, I should be insulted by this that my wife is involved with the Tea Party.
Thank you for stating the things I want to say with clarity and the calmness I wish I possesed. However my anger is so strong that what I have to say would get me banned.
“comedienne Janeane Garofalo”
Comediaenne?
Uh, only if one is into very dark and sick comedy. Like the degenerate humor of pulling the wings off butterflies or vigorously rubbing a cat’s behind raw with a turpentine soaked corncob.
I just browsed the next 30 hours or so worth of programming on Current TV. “Countdown with Keith Olbermann” is re-run at least 10 times, and the feature films (also extensively re-run) are “Do the Right Thing” and Brokeback Mountain.”...lol.
“I do not enjoy when people dont like me, Garofalo said. I would prefer to be well liked in any and all situations.”
Start by TAKING A BATH!
*yawn* When are they going to get any new arguments?
No kidding. I've typed a reply to this thread 3 times and erased it 3 times as I've attempted to curtail my anger. As someone who isn't white and it married to someone who is white (with 4 kids that are a wonderful blend of the 2 of us)...this thread hits home. To say I am beyond tired of white liberals telling me how I should feel, act, vote, marry, think, etc...is an understatement. The fact that these losers haven't experienced any of the stuff that I have, makes it even more insulting. In fact, most of these losers would cross to the other side of the street if I was walking at them.
Desperate for attention.
Crystal Meth.
Is there any other logical explanation?
Janeane Garofalo = why I don’t watch,or ever will watch, Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior and/or 24 Hrs.
“Janeane Garofalo = why I dont watch,or ever will watch, Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior ...”
I watched this program until I saw her, then I gagged and had to change channels. I won’t watch it unless they get rid of her.
My husband used to think she was cute when she was on the Ben Stiller show.
I won’t say what he thinks of her now in order to keep it family friendly, but good heavens, what happened? She went from a cute actress to an all out offensive person all around.
She says ugly, nasty, racist, kneejerk things that I would swear was a parody of an idiot progressive except she doesn’t seem to be joking.
And she has conformed physically to match the ugly inside. Every part of her is unattractive and repulsive - if she tried to be uglier, I doubt she could.
She must be a deeply, deeply unhappy, unbalanced person.
It’s a shame really. She had such a good start from the Larry Sanders show onward. A respected actress, funny sardonic comic, and cute young lady. I can’t think of any similar actor so well situated who worked so hard to throw it all away.
To illustrate she once starred with Uma Thurman in a very good light comedy called The Truth About Cats & Dogs. This was the most commercially successful movie she did. Since this movie came out she has trashed it repeatedly, disowning her own excellent work.
Her self-destructiveness is just sad.
The more our side insults her, the more their side loves it. Gives her “street cred”.
Best to just ignore. Don’t give her any energy.
C’mon .. Tell us what you REALLY feel! LOL
By the way, if a black person showed up armed at a town hall meeting where a white politician was speaking, it would be on lockdown martial law and wed never hear the end of it.
even in Africa?
who cares what these brain dead assholes think.....why even repeat it....why even post it....she’s just a stupid bitch.
Well said. I wish Garafolo could read your comment.
“Our country is founded on a sham: our forefathers were slave-owning rich white guys who wanted it their way. So when I see the American flag, I go, ‘Oh my God, you’re insulting me.”-Janeane Garofalo
To quote the ole Saturday Night Live skits with Bill Murray
“Janeane, you poor misguided slut!”
>>> sleeps around to get jobs... <<<
( ! )
Holy cow! Who is so desperate to want to sleep with that? My man bits curl up and hide even contemplating such an action.
I don't get angry anymore, the damage is similar to someone shooting a gun with a clogged up gun barrel, exploding in their faces.
Let this crowd continue to hurl the epithets, it's because they have no logical argument against what we stand for. Playing the race card means you have nothing substantive to say, and soon no one will listen.
With Garofalo we have the perfect example. No one listens to her anymore, and she used to be an effective spokesperson for the left. I think she's resorted to the race card at least three or four too many times now.
The tea party has grown at a greater pace ever since the accusations of racism began. The 2010 election proves the accusations are powerless, IMHO.
