Humberto Leal , a Mexican illegal alien was finally executed Thursday evening for the 1994 rape-slaying of 16-year-old Adria Sauceda, whose brutalized nude body was found hours after he left a San Antonio street party with her. She was bludgeoned with a chunk of asphalt.
Leal was executed after the U.S. Supreme Court (by a 5-4 vote) turned down a appeal by President Barack Obama to stop the execution due to complaints by the Mexican Government and the U.N. justice court that he had not properly received “consular access” before his trial.
As with his lawsuit against Arizona over its mere upholding of Federal laws with SB1070, his unilateral approval for access for Mexican drivers in the U.S., and his virtual amnesty for “Dreamer” illegal aliens, Obama once again chose Mexico over the American people. This last disgraceful act by Obama was a slap in the face to the Sauceda Family – who had waited far too long for justice, as well as the People of Texas, whose sovereignty clearly means nothing to him.
After the Supreme Court ruled against Obama and Leal, the Texas Gov. Rick Perry also refused to stop the execution – thus sealing this savage’s fate. In his last minutes, Humberto Leal said he was sorry and accepted responsibility.

Well, I bet he wished he had let his Hispanic victim, Ms. Saucedo, “Viva.” So it might make sense, especially as he grogged out on the pentothal. God reads minds that we can’t.
I hope that they notified the Mexican consulate when they executed him.
I’ll never understand how someone can claim with a straight face that a treaty provision that permits foreign citizens who travel to the U.S. to contact their country’s consulate when arrested (which makes perfect sense in the case of tourists) should be not only be applied to someone who had not traveled legally to the U.S., had been living here illegally since the age of 2, and did not claim that he wanted to speak to the Mexican consulate. If having to give Miranda rights is extraconstitutional and absurd, then having to warn people whom you would have no idea were foreign nationals that they can contact the embassy of a country they’ve never known is Kafkaesque.
BTW, if cops start warning every “Hispanic-looking” suspect they arrest of their purported right to contact the consulate of their home country, the ACLU and La Raza will claim that the police are engaging in racial profiling and assuming that defendants are not legal residents.
