Through an Executive Order, the Obama administration is implementing new restrictions on the sale of certain weapons in border states, and increasing the penalties for violating certain firearms laws.

Maybe in Zero's mind he can increase penalties, but in the USA that would have to be done by legislation.

The gall on this smarmy prick!

The great state of Georgia is accepting new citizens and purchasers of guns. I invite everyone to make a trip here to buy and thumb your nose at Obammy & Co.

All of this leads me to believe that there will not be a 2012 election. They are being too brazen with the implementation of fascism to be planning on facing the voters. They have something planned and I’m pretty sure we will not like it. PRAY

I hope everyone has by now realized that there is no getting rid of this asshat until Jan 20, 2013. Even if the House brought up articles of impeachment, there is no crime large enough for Harry Reid to convene the trial. We are screwed. Where is.........better not say it.

Saw this for the first time today. Enthralled at her testimony...and especially the clincher at the end..... She took no prisoners. Excellent!

Guns and drugs are big government crops. IMO

I can agree with that..though they call it something else....give it another name and all is well on the political corrective line of fire.

The Gov. runs them because they can...the Gov. stops the average man from protecting himself ....because they can.

We have not hit "Enough is Enough"...yet... and they know how to take the US citizen all the way to the wire and drag him part way over before he'll resist.

I think I'll watch..." Lord of War"... tonight with Nicky Cage.....

So far, they’ve made a lot of incremental gains without using anything but implied force, and without meeting any resistance.

Like a King Cobra before it strikes.....they've been slithering in the grass on this issue for a very long time. Trouble is our congressional representatives are too busy making political points that matter to them....these are basically ignored because they have no need of protecting their families...they live in a bubble.

We do if Congress has the will to do it!!!!

Congressional Recourse
If Congress does not like what the executive branch is doing, it has two main options. First, it may rewrite or amend a previous law, or spell it out in greater detail how the Executive Branch must act. Of course, the President has the right to veto the bill if he disagrees with it, so, in practice, a 2/3 majority if often required to override an Executive Order.

Congress is less likely to challenge EOs that deal with foreign policy, national defense, or the implementation and negotiation of treaties, as these are powers granted largely to the President by the Constitution. As the Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces, the President is also considered the nation’s “Chief Diplomat.” In fact, given national security concerns, some defense or security related EOs (often called National Security Directives or Presidential Decision Directives) are not made public.

In addition to congressional recourse, Executive Orders can be challenged in court, usually on the grounds that the Order deviates from “congressional intent” or exceeds the President’s constitutional powers. In one such notable instance, President Harry Truman, was rebuked by the Supreme Court for overstepping the bounds of presidential authority. After World War II, Truman seized control of steel mills across the nation in an effort to settle labor disputes. In response to a challenge of this action, the Supreme Court ruled that the seizure was unconstitutional and exceeded presidential powers because neither the Constitution or any statute authorized the President to seize private businesses to settle labor disputes. For the most part, however, the Court has been fairly tolerant of wide range of executive actions.

There is only one rational reason for gun control; that is to rule without the consent of the governed.

That's it in a nutshell.

No. Not silence.

They issued a statement saying that the president lacks the statutory authority to implement such a requirement, and that they will file a law suit as soon as the first letter demanding compliance is sent out by the BATFE to any gun store owner.

The “Executive Order” is NOT law, but it will be enforced AS IF it WERE law!

Go read the article comments. nobama has no friends at the Blaze.

I’ve noticed this more and more, even in supposedly nobama-friendly articles. Maybe people are waking up?
