Michele Bachmann Tells Reporter: “You Need to Get Out of My Way, Sir” – Video 7/20/11

Here is video of GOP Rep. Michele Bachmann answering reporters’ questions in Iowa while walking. You can hear a reporter trying to get ahead of her and in position to ask her a question. But he made the mistake of getting in Bachmann’s way! Bachmann, politely but firmly, said to him as she kept walking, “You need to get out of my way, Sir.” He did! She never missed a beat, kept right on talking as the reporter followed behind her!

I like Bachmann’s positions as well, but I’ve soured on her significantly. I now see her as a Stepford opportunist (which might really mean that Marcus is the opportunist), but we all back our own candidates for our own reasons.

Does anyone else find the expression “You need to...” a little arrogant?

In this situation, I don’t find it arrogant at all. Assertive, yes. Arrogant, no.

Well, If she was a Democrat she would have had a couple union thugs just shove the reporter to the ground so she could step on him.

true. the MSM reports are undoubtedly exaggerated, if not outright lies:

You need to not call Michelle Bachmann arrogant.

LOL

I give Palin all the advantage on genuine character and think Bachmann has many exploitable holes in her candidacy

And right there is where that discussion completes. In this election we damn well better put up a nominee that republicans and conservatives will motivate themselves out of their routines for one day to vote.

The broken-glass and gittn-my-azz-off-the-couch effects will push the republican and conservative vote percentages up and that alone will beat bammy.

Palin at 48 would be too young for you? Yikes!

I prefer my presidents to be over 50.

All of the good presidents have been over 50. Late 50’s or 60’s is even better.

So Obama and Clinton would have been better if they’d been older? Causation does not equal correlation.

No, Obama and Clinton were going to be horrible regardless of age, just as many presidents in their 50’s and 60’s were also awful.

But there has yet to be a quality president under 50.

Reagan may have been good at 48, except for the fact that he was still technically a Democrat. He got better with age, as is often the case.

She was not afraid to speak her mind on that MessNBC show a few years ago, and was nearly thrown out of Congress. She didn’t back down. She headed up a Constitutional study group for Republicans, she’s consistent in her positions and holds to them. These are the kinds of traits that show me she would make a great leader.

I think Reagan would have been better if he were younger. He got rolled by congress a few times in a way that I don’t think he would have had he been younger.

And Poppy was a disaster. So were Nixon and Carter and LBJ.

I really don’t see your case at all.

Reagan was elected president at 69. Sure he may have been better in some areas at 59, but he probably wasn’t ready at 48.

There have been good and bad presidents of all ages, except there has yet to be a decent president under 50. There may be a reason for that.

So, all other things being equal (character, ideology, etc) I prefer my presidents to be over 50, if possible.

All other things are never equal.

Reagan was clearly past his prime—and yet he was by far the best choice we had when he was elected.

Bachmann is as conservative or more conservative than any other formal or potential candidate, and she is over 50, a personal preference of mine.

The only question with Bachmann is electability, but she’s not alone there, either.

Reagan was still quite vigorous at 69. His writings between 1976 and 1980 suggest someone who was still quite intellectually dexterous. I have no regrets with his overall presidency and legacy.

I just said Reagan was by far our best choice—though he was clearly past his prime (and his second term suffered for it).

Hey, we all get to pick our candidates however we would like!
