Jobless claims rise; still over 400,000 a week

I don't care how expected or unexpected the rise in jobless claims last week was. The fact is, years after the recession supposedly ended, we still have more than 400,000 Americans a week filing claims for benefits.

Applications for jobless benefits increased 10,000 in the week ended July 16 to 418,000, Labor Department figures showed today. Economists forecast 410,000 claims, according to the median estimate in a Bloomberg News survey. The data included about 1,750 additional job cuts due to the Minnesota government shutdown, the agency said.

Employers have been reluctant to hire more workers over the past two months on concern the recovery was slowing and growing unease over stalled negotiations to extend the federal debt ceiling and reduce the budget deficit. Federal Reserve Chairman Ben S. Bernanke last week said recent data showed "continuing weakness" in the labor market....

But Zero tells us the recovery is in full bloom.
Meanwhile I just lost another contract
because there's not enough business.
And the company isn't planning on
paying the balance.

How could that possibly happen during “Summer of Recovery III” or whatever it’s being called this time?

Not to worry, all that needs to be done is for the federal government to lift another $1 Trillion in “revenue” from the private sector to create more shovel-ready jobs. I’m thinking for gravediggers on the US/Mex border. Epic FAIL.

The American people are pretty much clueless sheeple

Obama doesn't care about jobs for Americans because he already has set the GOP up to be the fall guy when it all slowly collapses

He is modeling his presidency after FDR even though “hope and change” will be seen as the BS it is the people will be too afraid to change horses like when FDR was POTUS

Wasting away again in Obamaville
Searching for my lost government check
Some people claim that it’s Barack to blame,
But I know it’s all Bush’s fault.

The U6, which includes some of those who’ve given up looking, is 16.2%, but even that is wildly optomistic:
