Obama Says FDR Was "Fiscally Conservative"

In response to a question regarding the poor state of the economy, President Obama asserted that FDR was "fiscally conservative" - you know, that executive powerhorse who, arguably, established the welfare state.

Whaa? Obama has made a bountiful share of asinine comments, but this one is beyond laughable. Quick note: FDR was the master inventor of the "New Deal," which uplifted a slew of new programs (at high price tags): the NIRA, the CCC, the TVA, the FDIC, the PWA, the NLRA, the WPA, the SSA, need I go further?

FDR is responsible for claiming a generous portion of the government program acronyms, which has made it difficult for later spendthrift presidents. Obama should be pissed.

Here are some of the President's comments:

Obama was referring to spending-cut measures Roosevelt took in the middle of the New Deal that lasted from 1933 to 1940.

“FDR comes in, he tries all these things with the New Deal; but FDR, contrary to myth, was pretty fiscally conservative,” the president said Friday during a town hall meeting on the campus of the University of Maryland.

“And so after the initial efforts of the New Deal and it looked like the economy was growing again, FDR then presented a very severe austerity budget,” Obama continued. “And suddenly, in 1937, the economy started going down again. And, ultimately, what really pulled America out of the Great Depression was World War II.”

Now we all know why Obama said what he did. First, he as always likened himself to FDR, so paying FDR a compliment is like paying himself a compliment.

His second reason was strategic, because saying FDR was "fiscally conservative" is saying that he himself is able to spend recklessly on New Deal-type programs while, at the same time, maintaining fiscal prudence. In political rhetoric land, it's a win-win.

When you have never had a course in American history and have a great deal of contempt for our country (and have been grades-adjusted by affirmative action), you too would believe that FDR was conservative. Yeah for Affirmative Action and gross stupidity!

Obama is a dumbass. that is all there is to it.

He was never taught HOW to think, only WHAT to think.

He knows one solution, and applies it to every situation- Government spending of rich peoples money.

FDR had the Civilian conservation Corps, Obama just lets people squat in their houses and not pay for them.

Seriously, though, this comment is a PRIME example of the mind-set and political philosophy of our current president. I do not doubt that he really believes FDR was fiscally conservative — which should tell any sane person everything they need to know about Mr. Obama, his fitness for office, and how ‘brilliant’ he actually isn't.

FDR ran on a fiscally conservative platform, and then betrayed the people who voted for that platform by flooding Washington with Fabian Socialist & out right Communist appointees. Unfortunately in a panic to appear to be doing something, most of the former Conservative Democrats in Congress raced to follow him into that betrayal.

But Obama will say & do anything he can to undermine the America that we believe in. He demanded change; he had tens of thousands of middle-class Americans chanting like Nazis in Nuremberg, in staccato unison, their affirmation of that change. By contrast, FDR almost comes across as a patriot.

There is nothing more important to the survival of what is left of the America of the founders, that we retire this demagogue in 2012, and undo every wrong that he has thus far accomplished at our expense. But he will not go away quietly.

Once AGAIN Obama confirms he has no knowledge of AMERICAN history. Did he even show up to his U.S. History classes? Did he even attend history classes in the United States? Or is Obama just playing the "liberal word redefinition game" with the phrase "fiscally conservative", like what Bill Clinton did with "sexual relations"?

Compared to a Marxist like Obama, all previous presidents were fiscally conservative, except for maybe Woodrow Wilson.
