Sarah Palin is being awfully quiet, and I am hoping that signifies the quiet before the storm...

Respectfully, your analogy doesn't fly.

The politically smart thing for Gov. Palin to do for Gov. Palin probably would have been to stay as Governor. The action she took, while viewed as quiting (by some), was actually courageous and in the best interest of Alaska, as well as in the best interest of the Conservative cause.

In 2008, we gained approximately 63 seats in the House, many of them the result of a Palin endorsement. What would Palin’s influence have been had she still been fighting bogus ethics complaints in Alaska as Governor?

Another overlooked aspect of Palin, as a former Governor, she was sometimes the loan voice or leading voice of opposition against Obama policies. While others were busy checking with their focus groups on what an acceptable, politically correct response was, Palin was calling it like it is (remember the Death Panels?).

Would she have been as big a voice for the Tea Party had she been stuck in Alaska? Probably not. Would her challenges of Obama have received as much notoriety as they did if she were busy fighting all the frivolous complaints as Governor? Again, very likely, no.

While Palin was going through all the ethics complaints as Governor and former Vice Presidential candidate, where was her support from the Republican establishment in fighting these complaints? As I've read from numerous sources, her support from her (our) Party was nonexistent.

Did she make money after her resignation? Of course. Is that wrong? Not as I see it. While it benefited her personally, it also enabled her to assume the position she now has.

Lastly, why is Palin’s resignation held against her by some, while many of these same people never said a word when the current President resigned his past position in the US Senate. The current Governor of Texas, after promising during his past reelection that he would serve his full term, is now poised to resign should he win the nomination. Where are these same people who were/are so critical of Palin resigning?

What constitutes an acceptable resignation? As I see it, an unacceptable or acceptable resignation is defined by one’s political supporters or opponents. Without the politics, most resignations are acceptable.

You are exactly right! I will jump in with both feet and have talked with others here in my little town that will do the same thing. Be patient! If you have faith that Sarah is the candidate of our time, then you must have faith that she knows when the time is right. Now, is not the time. This Obama drama is in high gear...let him hang himself and the other dems that follow him. This will be solved by August 2nd, one way or the other.

I am currently about 3/4 through “America By Heart” and the chapter on “Mama Grizzlies” is one that every woman in this country needs to read. Sarah will run! Perry is not a true conservative and Sarah will prove that to all true Conservatives. Sarah will not take back seat to another man...including waiting for 8 years for it to be her turn!

God bless our America...she needs our prayers, she deserves to last the lifetime of our children's children's children. America under this president, will be destroyed step by step unless WE THE PEOPLE stop him...and with Sarah's leadership, America will be the proud country WE THE PEOPLE all want for our children and grandchildren.

EAGLES UP SARAH!

That’s because she’s not going to run. She’s happy with her role.

Think it through. Sarah Palin knows better than anyone that millions upon millions of Americans have already chosen her as their next president. She knew this over a year ago.

She's got far too much respect for the American people, and for our political process, to string the country along while she "makes up her mind." She knew over a year ago that she needed to decide quickly, and that if she couldn't commit, she'd have to come out early and say that.

The very fact that she's still being mum about her plans this late in the game should tell you what you need to know.

It’s going to be fun re-posting your comments after Palin declares. I hope you’ll laugh as hard as the rest of us do.

Isn’t the “statue-of-limitations” for dumb law suits against her in Alaska up today?

Son of a gun. Thanks for the reminder. I believe that expired yesterday.

I'm taking one tally mark out of the "vote for Palin" column following her discussion with Greta.

Well, bye.

You were never really with Sarah anyway.

You truly need to be outed for the political operative you are. There’s no doubt in my mind that you’re being paid by someone to post your incessant anti-Palin garbage.

No one expends that kind of energy knocking down a potential candidate for free.

I wish Sarah would announce on the morning of August 4th......Obama’s birthday.

Oh man, wouldn't that be the ultimate slap in the face? She won't do it, though. She's way too classy for that.

Well, bye. You were never really with Sarah anyway.

See ya later. And, bullpucky. I've already voted for Sarah once. Check my post history and you'll find long standing support for her. See post 53 on this thread for pity's sake. Dismissing me because you think I was "never really with Sarah anyway" is not only intellectually dishonest, it reflects on how little reading and research you did before hitting the keyboard. It's great that you think she walks on water. I'm a big fan, too. But be honest with yourself and our FRiends. Palin has made mistakes. For example, in 2010 she endorsed McCain in his re-election bid. From my conservative point of view, that was a mistake despite the relativist "earning political capital" argument. And today she feels raising the national debt ceiling is okay as long as we get something out of it. Again, that is a political relativist argument that I would argue with her as easily in person as I would on this forum. Playing the tit-for-tat game is how we got into the mess we're in. It's not okay just because we get something out of the deal. Other relativist arguments are that it's okay to legalize prostitution as long as we can get the income tax out of it. Another is that it's okay to legalize drugs as long as we can get the sales tax out of it. These things are *not* okay. I'm a capital-C conservative; I'm better than that. And, I think Palin is too -- but she's "in the game" and needs an honest Tea Party reminder every once in a while to offset the crowd of worshipers around her that can't make an objective assessment.

You wrote: “’ll bet she’s in before Labor Day.”

It wouldn’t surprise me if she announced on that “Socialist Holiday!”

Game on!

So she continues to string them along? That makes no sense.

Agreed. I like Sarah too, but some of her ‘supporters’ on here (I use the term loosely) have begun to seriously worship her and that concerns me.

She is human, and fallible, not a god.

You're either not intelligent enough to comprehend the reasoning I laid out in my last post, or you're just being snarky. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, and assume the latter (this time).

To reiterate; Sarah Palin respects the American people far too much to string them along while trying to make up her mind about running for office. The truth is, she actually made up her mind a long time back, but is keeping mum about it for strategic reasons.

I am far more intelligent than some people I see on here.

If she has made up her mind and is not telling anyone, that is stringing them along.

Fish or cut bait already, I want to get to the issues and away from this “Is she or isn’t she” garbage.

And, BTW, you don’t know her or her mind. You have no way of knowing if she has made up her mind or not, it is just wishful thinking.

I have no idea what it is about some people that makes other people throw their brains out the window. I like Palin a lot, and would probably vote for her, but I do not like what I am seeing in some of her most ardent supporters here.

I still do not think that Sarah misspoke about the debt ceiling. She is still a private citizen. What she was saying is that from her position she can’t really do anything to stop anything that the congress does at this point in time. She says that it looks like they are going to pass something that will raise the debt ceiling, even though she does not support it and would not go that route herself. So if they are going to do that anyway, then get something useful out of it. Don’t throw away what little power you have congress.

And yours and mine is a genuine, polite, intellectual difference of opinion and I completely respect yours. This is the kind of discourse I've come to enjoy, and expect, here at FR. Thank you :-) And don't think for a moment I've written Mrs. Palin off. She's not even in the race (yet?) and she's still a front runner on my scorecard. It's only that our Tea Party types in Congress are in the middle of the storm trying to hold the line and do what is "right" instead of what is "easy" (which would be to carry water for the establishment republicans). Currently Sarah Palin is on the sidelines as the greatest advocate to our cause. I simply had hoped she would have more adamantly encouraged our people with her words, to keep fighting the debt ceiling rise rather than to equivocate that it is inevitable. Had she said, "Don't retreat ... reload!" we might have even gained people off the fence to our aid.
