Through the first six months of this year, combined sales of the Nissan Leaf and Chevy Volt nationwide totaled fewer than 7,000 cars. Ah, yes, the free market at it's finest!
Give me a nuclear powered car and I might buy one.

Due to the mandatory bling requirement the weight of a average minority outweighs the cost-effectivness of a electric cars This requires a waiverlicious decree. So let it be said, so let it be done.

But why talk about minorities, since the salvage value of these vehicles is zero, it means a world where poor people have no cars.

A Los Angeles Times/University of Southern California survey from last year found that 72 percent of Asian Americans and 85 percent of Latinos said that they were very concerned about air pollution. If I lived in Southern California, I would be concerned about air polution too. Knowing that the Valley has been called "The Valley of Smoke" since long before Leif Ericson ever set foot in America, I would simply move out if it bothered me that much.

This is small thinking engineered by environmentalist propaganda. Our current line of automobiles do not harm the environment. We eliminated lead additives years ago and we now use the catalytic converters. Carbon dioxide is not a pollutant. It is a natural compound.
By telling industry that future car must be electric or an internal combustion that will get 57 miles per gallon of fuel cripples our ingenuity. Developing any other possibilities is thought crime.
I will never buy an auto with a $25,000 battery or a sardine can powered by a model airplane engine.

Last car I bought, I deliberately went looking for a gas-eater. I got a five year old Town & Country for about $12k.
It gets a little over 17 mpg. The current model's base price without any options is a little over $25,000 and it gets 25mpg highway.
Using rounded numbers, I have a $12,000 surplus to use on gas. Let's say I only get 15mpg and the new T&C gets 30. At $4.00/ gallon, that's about $1300 extra I spend on gas per 10,000 miles each year, which means I can drive for a little over 9 years before I hit the $24,000 figure of the new gas miser.
I guess in 2020 I'll pick up a 2015 model & do it all over again.

I’m sure (but don’t have the statistics, just my humble opinion) that minorities like Jews or Chinese or indians or koreans or japanese - americans have a higher % of electric/hybrid car ownership..
