I saw this interview, so I knew it was a good one, though I saw him on that round table show and thought his optimism for the bill because America now has the thought of “dollar for dollar” decrease of spending in relation to Debt Ceiling increase was a little too positive. Yes that’s good, but Kraut didn’t seem to see the overall horrendousness of the thing.

Not a Lord of the Rings fan, huh?
Denethor is the Steward of Gondor. In short, he thinks battle against Mordor and Sauron is a hopeless proposition, though he would have been willing to take up the Ring. In the end, he insanely decides to burn himself and his wounded son, Faramir, alive before Gondor has fallen. He typifies the concept of despair and surrender when pressed.

This country is headed over a cliff economically. Everybody understands that, including the ratings agencies, which are rather neutral on this objective observers and they say you dont get your house in order were going to make you lose your AAA [credit rating]. Everybody understands that. But it was these people, expressed through their representatives, who made the case and won the day.
Article title is off, IMO.

The Steward of Gondor in Lord of the Rings. He dabbles with dangerous magic seeking power over the ring which prematurely ages him, causing senility, depression and the loss of all hope. Tries to burn his unconscious son on a pyre and ultimately throws himself off the heights of the White City of Gondor.
Sort of like what Charles is doing here, LOL.

Commenting without reading the article for over eleven years now.
You’d think I’d learn.

Inappropriate analogy. CK is attacking the ATTACKERS of the Tea Party for their cheap shots and stupidity.
He is not a big Tea Party fan but at least defends it from nutcases.

I could be wrong, but he seems to be refereing to democrats, not the Tea Party... they are the ones throwing out the terrorist label.
Krauthammer slams Tea Party attackers lack of intelligence
Tea Party attackers = people who attack the Tea Party.
attackers' : plural (more than one), possessive (ownership)
'lack of intelligence' is the direct quote which Krauthammer said.
Thus people who attack the Tea Party are stupid (lack intelligence).

I think they won. I think they are putting on a show about the power of the Tea Party. I think the powers that be expect severe economic trouble in the next year. I think they want to make 2012 about "undoing the damage" which they Tea party caused when they "won" on the issue of the debt ceiling. They may not pull it off, but I think that's their plan.
I've voiced the same opinion and agree with you completely. I think we should bookmark your post and revisit it in 2012. I suspect we are spot-on. As for Krauthammer, I think his assessment is sincere; he truly believes the Tea Party "won" something here -- though clearly we have not "won" anything. The only accomplishment I see is that a "newborn" political entity flexed its muscle for the first time and caused a bit of a stir. Some in the new political entity drank the kool-aid, like Alan West, and some stayed true to their constituents, like Michelle Bachmann and Ron Johnson. The point to remember is that the Tea Party is still an infant. Just wait until 2012 after it packs on a little more muscle. Then watch the flexing begin. (Assuming, of course, the current administration is unable to late-term-abort us.)

That “plan” has no chance. Everyone knows that Obama is in charge NOT the Tea Party. Although Rush and many here CLAIM the Tea Party IS in charge.

Did you read the article? Krauthammer was defending Tea Partiers, not attacking them.
To: Para-Ord.45
I think he is slamming tea party detractors, not the tea party.

Has anyone ever seen one political party insult registered voters like the dims do to us tea partiers? I mean really do they only think we are right wing extremists and not full of those in the mushy middle? They should just keep talking then when the wave hits them in 2012 as America really gets to see behind their masks.
To: Chuzzlewit
You’re right. He’s talking about the Democrats. I don’t see how the poster could miss who Krauthammer is slamming.
To: ClearCase_guy
Except as many Tea Party folks opposed the bill as.supported it, right? OTOH, Nazi Pelosi voted for it....along with Harry Reid. And Hussein signed it. They cannot run from the bill.
