UPDATE: Dow down 460 at 2:00 est.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average is taking a beating as President Obama continues to speak. Towards the beginning of his speech, the index was down 375 points. As I write now it is down 450. Obama's blaming of everyone else and trotting out the same old "solutions" are not helping.
The S&P average is down a total of 5% on the day. The NASDAQ is also down 5% on the day. This is becoming a run. We need leadership now.
In addition, between the time he announced the speech and gave it, the Dow fell another 100 points.

George McGovern is still alive at 89—we can speculate that he would have made a terrible President but he never had a chance to demonstrate it, unlike Carter. Apart from his signature issue (Vietnam) he is probably not nearly as far to the left as Obama. Maybe he could be persuaded to make another try.
Looks like the PPT ran outta steam! -600!
It was weird watching CBS during 0bama’s hour-late speech.
They had the DJIA box onscreen showing the drop in the stock market as 0 continued to speak. CBS! Could they have mis-assumed that the market would go UP as he spoke? Man, what a bloodletting. Time for him to announce he won’t seek or accept or steal re-election.
I didn’t watch it, it’s been a very bad day for me.
Thanks for your Happy Birthday Letter, I’ll write you tomorrow. I know some of my kids are losing a lot of money.
I had to look that up, interesting: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ludwig_II_of_Bavaria
