Pot-Smoking Teens Hear Secret Television Messages
The Winston Review ^ | August 9, 2011 | -TWR-

“Teenagers and young adults who use marijuana may be messing with their heads in ways they don’t intend,” reports Harvard Health Publications. Also:

Evidence is mounting that regular marijuana use increases the chance that a teenager will develop psychosis, a pattern of unusual thoughts or perceptions, such as believing the television is transmitting secret messages. It also increases the risk of developing schizophrenia, a disabling brain disorder that not only causes psychosis, but also problems concentrating and loss of emotional expression.

In one recent study that followed nearly 2,000 teenagers as they became young adults, young people who smoked marijuana at least five times were twice as likely to have developed psychosis over the next 10 years as those who didn’t smoke pot.

The so-called health benefits of “medical marijuana” could offset any positives, costing taxpayers billions. But the social cost is immeasurable.

A few years ago this thread would have attracted a bunch of angry Paulbots. Where have all the Paulbots gone?

I think I've ran into a few of them recently on this thread.

Does smoking it help you to detect Satanic messages in records when you play them backwards or use a reverse-speech player on digital audio clips?

Maybe it’s a coincidence but my TV has also been sending me the same message along with my radio. Ummm, can you tell me what make your TV is?

Don’t ask me.... I’ve never smoked it.

I do know that if you play country and western music backwards,
you get your wife back... your truck back.. your dog back... etc.

“A kick in the head; is it worse than a kick in the groin? Would you rather have just one, or both? And if both, why?”

Well, you know. Like wow. It’s the principal (sic) of the thing.

How about the “This research was debunked a decade ago” crowd?

The bottom line was that it might cause the onset of schizophrenia sooner in those who were going to develop schizophrenia anyway.

Truthfully, the best argument against using marijuana is that it makes the user dull and stupid. As such, the argument is persuasive to the young who wish to be brighter and effective in their lives.

I talked with several young marijuana users who said that a song from some years ago that seemingly glorified marijuana use, was in fact one the most persuasive anti-marijuana messages ever produced. It is called “Because I Got High”, by ‘Afroman’.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WeYsTmIzjkw&ob

The gist is that he ruined his life because he smoked marijuana instead of doing the important things in life. It sounds funny and glib, but the message struck home.

Both. - ‘Cause if you just get kicked in one, it HURTS; and that’s all you can think of, HOW BAD IT HURTS. If both are kicked, one place takes the mind off the other, and then it’s just an interesting experience of infinite variety. - Then both abate about the same time, and you think, “Man I’m glad that’s over!”

Plus you're the first Nanny Stater. What's next with your plan to have the government protect us?

“There is no way to tell what they claim from the study they performed.”

We need only read the claim “to tell what they claim”. The study itself is irrelevant to understanding the claims made.

But your criticism is correct. The study is yet another entry in the vast body of “cargo cult science” that Feynman criticized in his famous 1974 Caltech commencement address.

Scientific method — how does that work?

Yep. It’s common knowledge that many of the potheads are alcoholics. They drink too much while trying to soothe that initial paranoia, and they make fun of each other for being paranoid. “Hey, did a cop just pull up in the driveway?” LOL!

Coincidence that the generation that popularized pot smoking is now dying from brain cell issues?

Is it also a coincidence that they lived through a lot of open-air nuclear testing?

Which is the more likely source of cancer? Weeds or nuclear fallout? (I know what you'll say --Nuclear fallout is harmless)
