Over the past couple of months Rick Perry has been considering a run for POTUS. As of Thursday, August 11, it looks like the decision has been made and hes in.
Since hes been Governor of Texas for over ten years, folks from the other 56 states are asking Texans what kind of governor hes been and what we think. I decided that what I think isnt good enough I could be wrong. So, I decided to do some research on Perrys record and form a more accurate, fact-based opinion on his qualifications instead of relying on my general perceptions.
In the spirit of full disclosure, I voted for Perry in each of the three gubernatorial elections since 2002 and I am a conservative and a registered Republican. It was easy for me to vote for Perry since the alternative(s) were either uber-RINOs in the primaries or liberal Democrats in the general elections. Under the circumstances, my choice was always easy.
While researching Perrys pros and cons, Ive read every article and blog post that I could find over several weeks. Many of those posts had 2-300 comments associated with them I read them all.

Some of it will be uncomfortable for Perry fans and some of it will please them.
i lived in austin for a year or so
and the democrat thing means nothing.
many of the republicans were once democrats.
they abandoned the democrat party as it gradually revealed its true self—socialism.
I couldn’t help but notice the article is in the: “Political Commentary and Satire” section of the blog.
Many forget that there was a time when both the GOP and the Democrats were very different from what they are not. There are even some sitting Democrats who, though liberal, I totally forgive in light of their past service to their country.
Was it or was it not “political commentary?” It very clearly was not satire.
That Garasel vaccine really disturbs me. Yes I understand that it will save some folks from cancer which is a great thing. But to mandate is just not right. I thought we did not like mandates. Aren’t we trying to get rid of Obama care mainly because of mandate? Don’t forget Obama care will probably save lives too... I know that you can opt out of the vaccine but you can with the health care too......I think we should suspect any person for forces ANYTHING on us.
Reagan was a D until his 50's. Would many of my fellow FReepers hold that against him in retrospect?
While researching Perrys pros and cons, Ive read every article and blog post that I could find over several weeks. Many of those posts had 2-300 comments associated with them I read them all.
After reading literally thousands of comments, its become apparent that there are quite a lot of anti-Perry activists out there throwing all sorts of disparaging rhetorical crap against the wall in hopes that some will stick and they can influence someone, anyone, to become anti-Perry too. The unfortunate thing is that most of their negative statements are either completely false, at worst, or misleading, at best. Theyre simply parroting something they saw on another haters blog. Yet they maintain that they are the knowledgeable ones and those supporting Perry are ignorant clods who cant walk and chew gum at the same time ignorant is an adjective that they like to use a lot.
Its ludicrous to think that some asinine statement like Gardasil, Perry blew it nuff said, deserves any consideration. No, its not nuff said, there is usually more to know about an issue before a reasonable person can make an intelligent decision. For that reason, I have attempted to present some additional facts that have not been widely publicized just to educate those who have not been privy to Texas politics until now.
In that spirit, I do realize that anyone who reads this summary has a right to be skeptical of my facts. I therefore invite those who might dispute my findings to challenge them by verifying what Ive presented here. And cross-check via reliable sources rather than relying on a single posting by some anonymous blogger some spout facts which have no basis in the truth. I will identify the source of my data and in many cases, Ill provide a link to the source so you can see for yourself the real facts.
And finally, remember that any politician in office for ten years will have his/her critics and will have stepped on some toes during their term(s).

Plenty of support for Perry out there.
It is Perry or Herman Cain....for me
They want to bash Perry to try to paper over their endorsement of the Global Warming/Green Jobs boondoggle.
If they believe in this crap and these solutions, they aren’t conservative.
There isn’t anyway you can fix that, you can only quit trying to become President.
Romney, it has nothing to do with your Mormon faith, it has to do with you can’t be trusted due to a poor moral compass, poor critical thinking skills, and a seemingly endless set of excuses why you shouldn’t be measured the same way ...... like it is anti-Mormon or something...please.
Now THAT, IS a campaign Bus!
Sharp! (Sure beats “Look at We the Palins” LOL)
So true. The dims in Texas went the way of dingy hairy and Bwanney Fwanks, and the Republicans went the way of Zell Miller. He is closer to most Republicans in Texas than the lord dog nuts and queen Sheila.
...these people will dredge up any lies that they can.
But what if he is???...isn't that a huge plus to the lunatic left...the more fag-gy you are, the better...look at Barney, he can run a homo brothel in his basement, and nothing has happened to him.
That being said...I will vote for the Republican nominee no matter who he/she is.
Thanks, I read this earlier and bookmarked it. Nice job they did in getting out the facts.
I believe the big question everyone has to ask themselves is, if Rick Perry is the GOP nominee running against BO who do you vote for?
If you say, I won’t vote then you’ve just sealed the fate of this country.
I’m really impressed with the bus!
if Perry with the nomination who do you vote for in the general election?
This is a great example of the quality of information and research put forth by some blog authors. Thanks for posting - it was well worth the read.
This is a terrific posting. Thanks for the information.
Sorry, but I still have issues with his stance on illegal immigration, including in-state tuition to children of illegals. We’re going into the primary season. I will not back a candidate who does not take a strong stance on illegal immigration or potential amnesty. What shakes out and what it means for the GOP candidate remains to be seen. But I will not support any GOP candidate in the primaries unless they are strong on immigration.
This is so ridiculous on its surface.
I grew up in India (with second largest population of muslims) and in a city with 45% muslim population. I had friends who were muslims. I find nothing wrong with Perry being supportive of some muslims in the Texas community. Just as I find nothing wrong with the muslim friends I have grown up with that wanted the same freedoms and quality of life as I did.
Perry isn’t Obama and he isn’t Romney, so that would be good enough for me if he gets the nomination.
I agree. Anyone who cares about our country will vote “against” obama.
I am tired of these folks who only care about one issue.
Yes, I am pro-life, but really think it should be between a woman, her God, and her doctor. I want the govt out of my private life.
That doesn’t mean I would vote for or against a candidate just because of my being pro-life.
There is no perfect candidate. They all have a wart or two.
ABO=Anyone But Obama!!!!!!!!!
The big missing glare in your article is just how much
have the Moslems contributed to Gov. Perry’s run for President. I have real doubts about him since I read the speech Perry gave to the ‘Texas Moslems’ and how wonderful they are for Texas. It was posted here on Freerepublic.

This was a good article.
I’m with ya brother..I let the writer know three things he avoided and he did not post me yet.He made sense on three or four things to me but THE BIG AVALANCHE IS ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION.
I have a strange feeling that Rick Perry does not equate this to Sharia Law.
Plus, the final line in the article states: "Anyone who aligns with Muslims in any form is a traitor to the free world!"
We can take this site for what it is.
scary...the Gov. skipped his Act for America meetings. We have the Turkish Gulan schools proliferating in TX. on tax-payer dollars. IS HE DOING HIS HOMEWORK?
If Herman Cain makes it to the NC primary I plan on voting for him, that’s the time to show your preferences. When it comes to the election, as you say, ABBO! Thank God I don’t see any McCain’s in this field.
If they are pro-illegal immigration and pro-amnesty than they are pro-Democrat, no two ways about it. 20 million new uneducated, government dependent "citizens" means 19 million new Democrat voters and the end for the Republican party.
they abandoned the democrat party as it gradually revealed its true selfsocialism.
IT IS HARD TO GET FOLKS TO SEE THIS. IT IS HERE AND NOW THINKING.
Vid on immigration TX. Ruling-Class 82 lege...power-players
In 2008 I sent Perry a Christmas card while I was in Iraq. I recieved a prompt response in the form of a card from him.
I also sent one to obama. Still waitin.....
LOL!
She really owns your soul; you even post about her on a Perry thread!
The Dixiecrat tradition took a long time to fade away. Civil war/civil rights politics. Was a long time before Dixie got on board with the “party of Lincoln.”
Suppose Hillary Clinton or Al Gore crosses over and runs as a Republican? Considering the performance of Karl Rove and Michael Steele, is it really far fetched?
Why don't you simply post, "GOP elite, you don't have to worry about a conservative candidate who represents my best interests. Just give me a RINO candidate."
Good article. Perry is my top pick at the moment. Flawed? Sure. But then, these are politicians we’re talking about. He appears to be the best available. Better than Romney. And really the rest of the pack—including Bachmann—is not worth taking seriously, imo.
SLAVERY, TERRORISM and ISLAM
The following is a description (slightly modified) from Dr. Peter Hammonds book: Slavery, Terrorism and Islam: The Historical Roots and Contemporary Threat. Link
As long as the Muslim population remains around 1% of any given country they will be regarded as a peace-loving minority and not as a threat to anyone. In fact, they may be featured in articles and films, stereotyped for their colorful uniqueness.
At 2% and 3% they begin to proselytize from other ethnic minorities and disaffected groups with major recruiting from the jails and among street gangs [Europe, Australia, USA and Japan]. Six percent of US prison inmates are Muslim. Like any other minority, they wont integrate, but work to build their own separate community.
From 5% on they exercise an inordinate influence in proportion to their percentage of the population. South Africas Muslim population is 2%, but they control 35% of the businesses, a large percentage of the banks and have five Cabinet seats while Christians (77% of the population) have none.
They will push for the introduction of halaal (clean by Islamic standards) food, thereby securing food preparation jobs for Muslims. They will increase pressure on supermarket chains to feature it on their shelves (along with threats for failure to comply).
At this point, they will work to get the ruling government to allow them to rule themselves under Sharia; Islamic Law. The ultimate goal of Islam is not to convert the world, but to establish Sharia law over the entire world.
When Muslims reach 10% of the population, they will increase lawlessness as a means of complaint about their conditions. (Ei: car-burnings in France last October.) Any non-Muslim action that offends Islam will result in uprisings and threats.
After reaching 20% expect hair-trigger rioting, jihad militia formations, sporadic killings and church and synagogue burning (India, Mindanao, Philippines).
At 40% you will find widespread massacres, chronic terror attacks and ongoing militia warfare [Indonesia].
From 60% you may expect unfettered persecution of non-believers and other religions, sporadic ethnic cleansing (genocide), use of Sharia Law as a weapon and Jizya (infidel tax). (Sudan, Kosovo, Lebanon and Egypt).
After 80% expect State run ethnic cleansing and genocide [Western Papua (New Guinea), Iran, Biafra, Turkey and North Nigeria].
100% will usher in the peace of Dar-es-Salaam - House
scary...the Gov. skipped his Act for America meetings. We have the Turkish Gulan schools proliferating in TX. on tax-payer dollars. IS HE DOING HIS HOMEWORK?Have you been doing your homework? Did yo bother to read the New York Times article that woman's site mentions?
Some of the schools operators and founders, and many of their suppliers, are followers of Fethullah Gulen, a charismatic Turkish preacher of a moderate brand of Islam whose devotees have built a worldwide religious, social and nationalistic movement in his name. [Followers of Gulen are] a loose network of several million followers of Mr. Gulen, who preaches the need to embrace modernity in a peace-loving, ecumenical version of Islam. At the center of his philosophy is the concept of hizmet public service. The schools are demanding, require the students to wear uniforms and to achieve, and are scrupulous at avoiding the teaching of anything remotely religious in nature. What they seek to achieve is superior achievement in math, science, and technology and they appear to have a record of performance that backs that up.
We have to see all his emails to be sure.
..and yes it is far fetched....
...I would a hell of a lot rather have a RINO candidate than have one more second of Zer0.
It is said that RINO's will take us to the same place, only slower..
...well, if it must be a RINO, then I'll take slower in hopes that in the meantime a real Conservative comes along.
We can only vote for the people who put themselves out for election.
If, God forbid, it is a RINO, we have to make a choice, don't we?
It is either a communist thug, or a RINO.
Which would you choose?...or would you just set out the election at home in a snit?
I "choose" to tell the GOP to stop their games.
I "reject" the choice between the giant douche bag and the turd sandwich.
You have announced to the GOP that you are ready and willing to vote for a RINO. Just put the Romney sticker on your car now and get it over with. Rove and the GOP elite own you.
