Seventeen (17) things that critics are saying about Rick Perry
Pesky Truth ^ | July 19, 2011 | garnet92

Posted on 08/14/2011 10:36:33 AM PDT by Sudetenland

Over the past couple of months Rick Perry has been considering a run for POTUS. As of Thursday, August 11, it looks like the decision has been made and he’s in.

Since he’s been Governor of Texas for over ten years, folks from the other “56 states” are asking Texans what kind of governor he’s been and what we think. I decided that what I “think” isn’t good enough – I could be wrong. So, I decided to do some research on Perry’s record and form a more accurate, fact-based opinion on his qualifications instead of relying on my general perceptions.

In the spirit of full disclosure, I voted for Perry in each of the three gubernatorial elections since 2002 and I am a conservative and a registered Republican. It was easy for me to vote for Perry since the alternative(s) were either uber-RINOs in the primaries or liberal Democrats in the general elections. Under the circumstances, my choice was always easy.

While researching Perry’s pros and cons, I’ve read every article and blog post that I could find – over several weeks. Many of those posts had 2-300 comments associated with them – I read them all.

(Excerpt) Read more at peskytruth.wordpress.com ...

TOPICS: Business/Economy; Government; Politics; Reference
KEYWORDS: conservative; openborders; perry; rumors; truth
This is a good article on Rick Perry. It attempt to separate the truth from the lies being spread around and to do so as objectively as possible.

Some of it will be uncomfortable for Perry fans and some of it will please them.

i lived in austin for a year or so

and the democrat thing means nothing.

many of the republicans were once democrats.

they abandoned the democrat party as it gradually revealed its true self—socialism.

Many forget that there was a time when both the GOP and the Democrats were very different from what they are not. There are even some sitting Democrats who, though liberal, I totally forgive in light of their past service to their country.

Was it or was it not “political commentary?” It very clearly was not satire.

That Garasel vaccine really disturbs me. Yes I understand that it will save some folks from cancer which is a great thing. But to mandate is just not right. I thought we did not like mandates. Aren’t we trying to get rid of Obama care mainly because of mandate? Don’t forget Obama care will probably save lives too... I know that you can opt out of the vaccine but you can with the health care too......I think we should suspect any person for forces ANYTHING on us.

Reagan was a D until his 50's. Would many of my fellow FReepers hold that against him in retrospect?

I hope you don't mind me posting the rest of the article's introduction....

While researching Perry’s pros and cons, I’ve read every article and blog post that I could find – over several weeks. Many of those posts had 2-300 comments associated with them – I read them all.

After reading literally thousands of comments, it’s become apparent that there are quite a lot of anti-Perry activists out there throwing all sorts of disparaging rhetorical crap against the wall in hopes that some will stick and they can influence someone, anyone, to become anti-Perry too. The unfortunate thing is that most of their negative statements are either completely false, at worst, or misleading, at best. They’re simply parroting something they saw on another hater’s blog. Yet they maintain that they are the knowledgeable ones and those supporting Perry are ignorant clods who can’t walk and chew gum at the same time – “ignorant” is an adjective that they like to use a lot.

It’s ludicrous to think that some asinine statement like “Gardasil, Perry blew it – ‘nuff said,” deserves any consideration. No, it’s not “’nuff said,” there is usually more to know about an issue before a reasonable person can make an intelligent decision. For that reason, I have attempted to present some additional facts that have not been widely publicized just to educate those who have not been privy to Texas politics until now.

In that spirit, I do realize that anyone who reads this summary has a right to be skeptical of my facts. I therefore invite those who might dispute my findings to challenge them by verifying what I’ve presented here. And cross-check via reliable sources rather than relying on a single posting by some anonymous blogger – some spout “facts” which have no basis in the truth. I will identify the source of my data and in many cases, I’ll provide a link to the source so you can see for yourself … the real facts.

And finally, remember that any politician in office for ten years will have his/her critics and will have stepped on some toes during their term(s).

It is Perry or Herman Cain....for me

They want to bash Perry to try to paper over their endorsement of the Global Warming/Green Jobs boondoggle.

If they believe in this crap and these solutions, they aren’t conservative.

There isn’t anyway you can fix that, you can only quit trying to become President.

Romney, it has nothing to do with your Mormon faith, it has to do with you can’t be trusted due to a poor moral compass, poor critical thinking skills, and a seemingly endless set of excuses why you shouldn’t be measured the same way ...... like it is anti-Mormon or something...please.

13. Rick Perry is gay

...these people will dredge up any lies that they can.

But what if he is???...isn't that a huge plus to the lunatic left...the more fag-gy you are, the better...look at Barney, he can run a homo brothel in his basement, and nothing has happened to him.

That being said...I will vote for the Republican nominee no matter who he/she is.

If you say, I won’t vote then you’ve just sealed the fate of this country.

Sorry, but I still have issues with his stance on illegal immigration, including in-state tuition to children of illegals. We’re going into the primary season. I will not back a candidate who does not take a strong stance on illegal immigration or potential amnesty. What shakes out and what it means for the GOP candidate remains to be seen. But I will not support any GOP candidate in the primaries unless they are strong on immigration.

This is so ridiculous on its surface.

I grew up in India (with second largest population of muslims) and in a city with 45% muslim population. I had friends who were muslims. I find nothing wrong with Perry being supportive of some muslims in the Texas community. Just as I find nothing wrong with the muslim friends I have grown up with that wanted the same freedoms and quality of life as I did.

People who can't defend their own choice of candidate except by smearing other candidates are truly contemptible. I guess you claim to be a Christian, but you sure don't act like one. Isn't bearing false witness against you neighbor wrong?

You are pathetic and you're wrong. Ramadan began on August 1st, not August 6th.

I agree. Anyone who cares about our country will vote “against” obama.
I am tired of these folks who only care about one issue.
Yes, I am pro-life, but really think it should be between a woman, her God, and her doctor. I want the govt out of my private life.
That doesn’t mean I would vote for or against a candidate just because of my being pro-life.
There is no perfect candidate. They all have a wart or two.

have the Moslems contributed to Gov. Perry’s run for President. I have real doubts about him since I read the speech Perry gave to the ‘Texas Moslems’ and how wonderful they are for Texas. It was posted here on Freerepublic.

The cautionamerica.com goes to a link that says" Perry has signed off on a couple pieces of legislation they lobbied for, including halal regulations. (Tuesday August 12, 2003, ceremonial signing session of HB-470 TX Halal Law) Halal (Arabic: حلال‎ ḥalāl, "lawful") is a term designating any object or an action which is permissible to use or engage in, according to Islamic law. The term is used to designate food seen as permissible according to Islamic law (Sharia, الشريعة الإسلامية). The opposite of this word is haraam.

I have a strange feeling that Rick Perry does not equate this to Sharia Law.

Plus, the final line in the article states: "Anyone who aligns with Muslims in any form is a traitor to the free world!"

We can take this site for what it is.

THE BIG AVALANCHE IS ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION.

If they are pro-illegal immigration and pro-amnesty than they are pro-Democrat, no two ways about it. 20 million new uneducated, government dependent "citizens" means 19 million new Democrat voters and the end for the Republican party.

Keep your blinders on.....I'm peddling caution NOT hate....

SLAVERY, TERRORISM and ISLAM

The following is a description (slightly modified) from Dr. Peter Hammond’s book: Slavery, Terrorism and Islam: The Historical Roots and Contemporary Threat. Link

As long as the Muslim population remains around 1% of any given country they will be regarded as a peace-loving minority and not as a threat to anyone. In fact, they may be featured in articles and films, stereotyped for their colorful uniqueness.

At 2% and 3% they begin to proselytize from other ethnic minorities and disaffected groups with major recruiting from the jails and among street gangs [Europe, Australia, USA and Japan]. Six percent of US prison inmates are Muslim. Like any other minority, they won’t integrate, but work to build their own separate community.

From 5% on they exercise an inordinate influence in proportion to their percentage of the population. South Africa’s Muslim population is 2%, but they control 35% of the businesses, a large percentage of the banks and have five Cabinet seats while Christians (77% of the population) have none.

They will push for the introduction of halaal (clean by Islamic standards) food, thereby securing food preparation jobs for Muslims. They will increase pressure on supermarket chains to feature it on their shelves (along with threats for failure to comply).

At this point, they will work to get the ruling government to allow them to rule themselves under Sharia; Islamic Law. The ultimate goal of Islam is not to convert the world, but to establish Sharia law over the entire world.

When Muslims reach 10% of the population, they will increase lawlessness as a means of complaint about their conditions. (Ei: car-burnings in France last October.) Any non-Muslim action that offends Islam will result in uprisings and threats.

After reaching 20% expect hair-trigger rioting, jihad militia formations, sporadic killings and church and synagogue burning (India, Mindanao, Philippines).

At 40% you will find widespread massacres, chronic terror attacks and ongoing militia warfare [Indonesia].

From 60% you may expect unfettered persecution of non-believers and other religions, sporadic ethnic cleansing (genocide), use of Sharia Law as a weapon and Jizya (infidel tax). (Sudan, Kosovo, Lebanon and Egypt).

After 80% expect State run ethnic cleansing and genocide [Western Papua (New Guinea), Iran, Biafra, Turkey and North Nigeria].

100% will usher in the peace of “Dar-es-Salaam” - House

scary...the Gov. skipped his Act for America meetings. We have the Turkish Gulan schools proliferating in TX. on tax-payer dollars. IS HE DOING HIS HOMEWORK?
Have you been doing your homework? Did yo bother to read the New York Times article that woman's site mentions?

Charter Schools Tied to Turkey Grow in Texas

Reads to me that the biggest complaint about them is that they bring in foreign, H-1B visaed teachers--mostly from Turkey--to teach math, science, and technology because they can't find enough American teachers to do so. That makes the unions angry. They also are alleging that the teachers--GASP!--work for less and are willing to work more hours. How horrible to have teachers who are dedicated to their jobs more than their pocketbooks.

It also reads like there may be a question about the possibility that they are assigning contracts improperly favoring Turkish contractors. If that's true, it needs to be investigated and dealt with accordingly. As far as her pre-occupation with Gulen and his brand of Islam, from what I read it is what we would like to see all Muslims following.
Some of the schools’ operators and founders, and many of their suppliers, are followers of Fethullah Gulen, a charismatic Turkish preacher of a moderate brand of Islam whose devotees have built a worldwide religious, social and nationalistic movement in his name. [Followers of Gulen are] a loose network of several million followers of Mr. Gulen, who preaches the need to embrace modernity in a peace-loving, ecumenical version of Islam. At the center of his philosophy is the concept of “hizmet” — public service.
The schools are demanding, require the students to wear uniforms and to achieve, and are scrupulous at avoiding the teaching of anything remotely religious in nature. What they seek to achieve is superior achievement in math, science, and technology and they appear to have a record of performance that backs that up.

It's an old callow technique to smear someone with guilt by association and quite unworthy of someone claiming to be a conservative.

If there is corruption, or if there is something else disturbing, I'm sure it will come out, but if this is all you've got, then it ain't enough.

If you can't support your own candidate without trying to smear another, then maybe you need to re-examine your reasons for supporting that candidate.

Sigh...good grief....you know what I mean..

..and yes it is far fetched....

...I would a hell of a lot rather have a RINO candidate than have one more second of Zer0.

It is said that RINO's will take us to the same place, only slower..

...well, if it must be a RINO, then I'll take slower in hopes that in the meantime a real Conservative comes along.

We can only vote for the people who put themselves out for election.

If, God forbid, it is a RINO, we have to make a choice, don't we?

It is either a communist thug, or a RINO.

Which would you choose?...or would you just set out the election at home in a snit?

I "choose" to tell the GOP to stop their games.

I "reject" the choice between the giant douche bag and the turd sandwich.

You have announced to the GOP that you are ready and willing to vote for a RINO. Just put the Romney sticker on your car now and get it over with. Rove and the GOP elite own you.
