Prominent Ron Paul website promotes Farrakhan anti-Jewish speech
Adam Holland ^

Posted on 08/28/2011 12:58:35 PM PDT by mnehring

Judging by the comments for the post, it would seem that a nexus of support for Ron Paul and Louis Farrakhan has coalesced around conspiracy theories concerning Jewish political power and banks.  Among other artifacts of extremism found in the discussion attached to the post is a link to an article in the Nation of Islam's official newspaper, The Final Call, spinning a conspiracy theory blaming the popular uprising against Qaddafi not on an expression of Arab Spring revolutionary spirit, but (predictably) on a conspiracy of bankers upset about Qaddafi's monetary policies.  (Read here.)  The Final Call article fails to mention the Qaddafi regime's long history of violently suppressing political opposition -- suppression which rose to unprecedented levels of brutality in response to demonstrations in support of liberalizing Libya's political system.  Rather than citing revulsion at Qaddafi's massacre of peaceful Arab Spring demonstrators as the cause of the NATO intervention, the Final Call quotes Farrakhan as saying:

“I know why you are angry with him; because he never agreed with your policies when it came to sucking the resources of Third World peoples, and putting in place dictators that would be amenable to America's policies.”

It has long been known that some Ron Paul supporters share with Farrakhan a strong opposition to the central banking system, support for isolationist foreign policy, and a conspiratorial view of Israel and Jews which verges on paranoia.  Now we can add support for Muammar Qaddafi to that list.  Makes sense.

Below is the string of comments submitted by the Daily Paul forum members in response to the Farrakhan videos.  It is interesting to see them working out how to talk about these issues without sounding bigoted -- that whole "we're opposed to Zionists, not Jews" thing.  Only they get it a bit wrong.  One commenter seems to think the founder of Goldman Sachs is still alive as he argues that Goldman Sachs ins't bad because it's Jewish. "I don't consider Goldman a Jew I see him as being of Israeli descent big difference."  Another argues that his support for Naturei Karta  shows that he can't be an anti-Semite.

The main point of Farrakhan's speech, that international bankers and Zionists work together to control the world and punish those who resist that control, and that the Libya conflict results from that conspiracy, meets with broad approval among at least this group of Paul supporters.  I wonder what Ron Paul would say about it?

Ron Paul = Lyndon LaRouche?

I'm beginning to think so. He's acting like a KKK grand whatever. Always DID think he was nutty.

“Nonetheless NONE of the dozen or so fans of his I know are anti-semitic or pro-Farrakhan or pro-islam in any way.”

That may be true for the Ron Paul fans YOU KNOW, but it would seem that there are such people among the Ron Paul fans, for they provided the link to the “Final Call” screed blaming the west’s belated anti-Qaddafi mood on a cabal of Jewish bankers.

Among less well-educated and less well-informed Conservatives there is a sizable quotient that DO subscribe to any number of conspiracy theories and who do frequently, in my opinion, place themselves in the body of any number of populist causes espoused by very un-Conservative people.

I am not terribly surprised that among Ron Paul supporters in dialogue on his website were some who made, and knew of, the link to Farrakan’s Jewish Conspiracy theory.

There may be no direct link to Ron Paul himself in THIS matter, though he his not known in Congress as an ardent defender of Israel, and some would go as far as to say he has been an opponent of the extent of U.S. support for Israel - an extent that some of us Conservatives would characterize as often not supportive enough.

forget the site, he made an alliance with Ralph Nader? He made an anti-Israel/anti-US speech on Iranian TV? I bet he had something to do with himself.

Farrakhan isn’t a Joo!-hater for making the speech, but Ron Paul is for linking the video. Now if you nibble on the mushroom you’ll shrink, Alice.

This is kind of a cheap shot. Paul has enough real baggage. No need to manufacture stuff.

And why is anyone surprised? Ron Paul has an ugly history of anti-Semitism & anti-Israel sentiments.
He is only gravitating towards his natural allies ... those who do not see Iran and militant Islam as an existential threat to America, not to mention Israel.

“Nonetheless NONE of the dozen or so fans of his I know are anti-semitic or pro-Farrakhan or pro-islam in any way.”

He and most of his fans favor Palestine over Israel. That’s a Muslim/Jew issue for sure. And since his fans parrot his talking points, I guess they’re now also in favor of the Twelver in Iran getting nukes to accomplish his stated goal of wiping Israel off the map, then going after us.

I’m talking about all the dyed in the wool Paul fanati-bots. So maybe the few you know are just lukewarm, partial fans who don’t buy into the total program.

“ron paul has just given interviews or iranian TV that have come mighty close to, if not outright, treason. He should be called on it immediately.”

His fellow Congressmen should raise hell. I’d love to hear what Allen West, for instance, thinks about all this.

And, what SHOULD happen is for this to be brought up in the next debate. I dare any candidate to be brave enough to do it.

“I think many Paul supporters do not actually know what he believes or how he has voted.”

I think the majority are kids, peace-nicks, pro-drug legalization and favor conscience-free lifestyles. But of those who do actually subscribe to the other things he believes, I’ve seen, read and heard many who slam Israel for everything and are as anti-semitic as RP is.

“Then, I started reading some of Lew Rockwell’s nonsense and returned to planet Earth.”

Bless you for being honest in admitting that. You’d be so great in arguing issues with these guys. Do you try doing that, since you used to be one of them, and if so, what’s the response?

“Ideologues like you don’t know how to elect anyone but a RINO.”

That’s inaccurate and unfair, IMO. Calling anyone who disagrees with RP a RINO, un-Conservative, etc., is the same as BHO’s followers calling anyone who disagrees with him a Racist.

They hate me like poison, but I don’t care.

My main concern is that the lazy and arrogant media is going to tie RuPaul and his cyberstormtroopers to the Conservative Movement, setting us back for decades.

Not on my watch.

Rick Santorum did, albeit briefly.

If they’re not going to do it, I will.
