(CNN) — President Barack Obama left for Camp David on Marine One Friday but, in a twist that has left some White House reporters scratching their heads, he apparently arrived at the presidential retreat by car. White House Press Secretary Jay Carney explained the decision not to land at Camp David was made in advance because of the weather....

Meanwhile, CNN’s weather team found no signs of stormy weather in the area at the time Marine One departed the White House. The White House said there were no mechanical issues with the presidential helicopter..(article)

Full blown Sundance speculation follows. Based solely on prior precedent (see campaign diversions), general tendencies (known off site secret meetings), and recognition of an imminent scandal (fast and furious) allow me to speculate the obvious - Something is up with the closed session Press Conference about White House contact with Operation Fast and Furious occurring on the same day that Marine One mysteriously provides Obama undocumented time without press corp, official photographer, or followers. Could it be that he met someone in that alternate landing site for a brief discussion of the pending scandal? Perhaps a brief transport with an unknown passenger (Holder?) and perhaps legal advice team to talk and coordinate about strategy?

Just saying…… And It ain’t a stretch.

Obama’s more famous ‘Historical Diversions’ for Secret Meetings:

1. “Transparent” White House caught having secret off site meetings to avoid documented White House visitor registration requirements.
2. Obama slips the press by flying press corp to Chicago while he hangs back in DC holds secret meeting with Hillary Clinton, and possibly attends Bilderberg Meeting which coincidently took place in Virginia less than 6 miles from Dulles on same date.
3. Candidate Obama Ducks Press then Heads to Hawaii to settle issues with Hawaii Democrat Party’s inability to vouch for his eligibility. Hides behind cover of ailing grandmother.

Just like one other time in his life Widdle Barry is at a point that makes it hard for him to keep his narcissistic bubble intact and his usual response to that sort of situation is to make a drug buy. He'd want to do that sort of deal in person to be sure he was getting good stuff. Unlike the economy, terror, taking over industries, or even his Obamacare fascist eugenics program, buying himself some chit requires his personal involvement.

Re: the "non-existent" soccer game.

Fort Reno Park,the site of the supposed mystery soccer game, is not a "vacant lot." It is a large grass field across the street from Woodrow Wilson High School, Deal Middle School adjoins the site. It contains a regular baseball diamond and tennis courts off to the side. The outfield and adjoining open areas are used heavily for soccer; moveable goals are positioned at the site. The big NW DC youth soccer organization, the Stoddert League, uses Fort Reno for rec games and travel team practice.

The hoo-haw about the supposed mystery game was based on someone checking the Sidwell Friends website and discovering that Sidwell didn't have a game that day. Since Sasha and Malia attend Sidwell, many people assumed that meant they had no game. Bad assumption. Most youth soccer is played at the club level, and Stoddert DID have a full schedule of rec games at Fort Reno that day. Sidwell is irrelevant. I presume that Sasha and/or Malia play for Stoddert teams.

BTW, Fort Reno is NOT a high crime area, as DC goes. It's in upper Northwest, just off Wisconsin Avenue. I doubt if you could touch a home in the surrounding area under $700,000, and the average is probably over a million. It's not a gangbanger neighborhood. Both Wilson and Deal are among the stronger DC public schools and are predomimately middle class in character.

Posted #26 before I saw your post. I know there were more threads on this “event” -— and at least one that had a post with your arguments. IIRC, even with that, questions when unanswered.

P.S. I recall last year that some people posted pictures -- not sure if it was here or at other sites -- showing pictures of an empty, alarmingly derelict looking field, mostly dirt, through a chain link fence. This nicely dramatized the story of a non-existent game at a vacant lot. It was also a cheap shot, and a lesson in staging a story.

There is a chain link fence at Fort Reno Park. It is a low fence, well painted and in good repair, which keeps soccer balls from rolling into the street. There is also a high chain link fence; this is the backstop for the baseball diamond. So you CAN get an "urban gritty" chain link fence perspective, if you frame the shot carefully.

The grass at Fort Reno was in pitiful shape last year. It is pretty good this year. Probably your stimulus dollars at work, but all Stoddert parents whose kids practice or play there are happy with the improvement.

The pic in #26 looks to be more recent. You'll note that the grass is in pretty good shape and the baseball diamond is somewhat recognizable, at least if you know to look for it. I'd guess it was taken during rehabilitation of the field; hence the banged-up jersey wall and the construction fence in the foreground.

There were some pics posted last year that looked pretty grim. Since the Fort Reno fields were mostly dirt with a little crabgrass for relief, that wasn't too hard to stage. We parents were surprised when we dropped the girls off for the first day of practice this year that the fields were in great shape. They had been playable, if you don't mind dust, but grass is nicer.

BTW I tried to warn people off the soccer story last year but was probably too clever to accomplish my purpose. The problem was, you could take the location (Fort Reno), plus the time, plus the agegroup, and then check the website ... and presto, you have the girls' teams names and their schedule for the rest of the season. (I had it narrowed down to two teams in no time flat.) Bad guys had probably already figured that out, but I didn't want to contribute to it, so I didn't want to mention the teams or the league. The only reason I'll mention Stoddert now is that it's already in the linked story.

Plus I think 12/13 year old girls should be able to play soccer without being bothered by paparazzi and the curious idlers hoping to catch a glimpse of the president. If someone famous played on my daughter's team, I wouldn't want it publicized. I'm a great believer in leaving the kids alone.

Missing your point---the pic could not have been taken any later than the date of the thread (Apr 13, 2010) or the "event" (Apr 11, 2010).

The issue isn't about the condition of the area...or whether Sidwell played (it clearly did not, but as you pointed out, daughter could have played on another team).

The issue is about the timing:

About two hours before reporters were supposed to be in position to leave with the president, Obama left the grounds of the White House. Members of the press were told he was attending one of his daughter’s soccer games in northwest Washington, D.C.....

After Obama left, a press aide hastily gathered members of the media who happened to be at the White House early or working on other matters. They rushed to a van and left the White House to catch up with the president.

Too late. By the time, the press van appeared to arrive at the president’s location, the press was told he was already departing. Time to go back to the White House.

Reporters and photographers didn’t have a chance to see him or his vehicle to verify his presence at any location.

And to put a finer point on the timing:

According to the Chicago Sun Times, the press pool was to assemble at 11:30AM.

However, Time reported: The president left the White House at approximately 9:20 to attend one of his daughter’s soccer games at 40th and Chesapeake NW. A pool was hastily called at around 9:35 and drove north at 9:43 to catch the president before the game ended. We didn’t make it. The President returned to the White House at 10:17. The pool returned at 10:30. We now return you to your regularly scheduled pool call time...

...when the press pool got close to the reported location, they were told that Obama was leaving and to turn around. The press pool complied, but why? Wouldn’t they have wanted a photo of him, even leaving the event, to formally document his whereabouts? What’s also suspect is the very casual, nothing-to-see-here tone of the Time article.

Something is most definitely wrong.

There may be or may not be any "there" here in this instance; i.e. it may be a dead issue. However, the timing of Obama's whereabouts was never resolved to my satisfaction, and even if his daughter played at that time in that location, there is no evidence he attended.

The point of the thread is that we have a catalog of disappearing acts in which the President may or may not be up to no good.

Since we know he is never up to any good that does not personally benefit him, and him alone, it is worthwhile to make a note of his "disappearing acts"---particularly when he is increasingly being put between a rock and a hard place and when covering up his crimes and unconstitutional behavior is becoming increasingly more difficult.

Those in government, heads of state, presidents etc, are so paranoid, their security details often use decoys, lookalikes, stand ins, they put out intentional travel misinformation etc, etc.

Hitler and many others did/do this all the time.

Generally their security is most vulnerable when traveling.

I always have had a feeling that Obama is on cocaine, or some other type of white drug, some of his speeches his eyes are so bloodshot and he looks high. I also wonder why the President doesn’t have to submit to full scale blood tests regularly. It would only make sense, hell I have to if I wanted to flip burgers, why shouldn’t the most powerful man in the world have to?
