Robert L. Johnson, BET founder and chairman of RLJ, appeared on CBS to talk about the countries growing debt problem and said President Obama is not the right person to end the 'zero-sum game' towards the U.S. economy.
Johnson states, Unfortunately now I don't think we have the leadership either in the White House or the Congress to end what I call a zero-sum game mentality towards the U.S. economy. And until both parties agree that the goal is to rebuild the American economy to reflect the 21st century on a global environmentwe're going to be stuck. And it's a little bit frightening from the standpoint of a business person and particularly an African-American business person.

This is the kind of thing that gives me hope for 2012. Sure, I know lots of conservatives are saying Obama is toast. But when a clear past supporter from a protected group is this critical of Obama.... even Pravda can’t spin that.
It’s about time for the Blacks in America to the ideas of Booker T Washington and to forego those of W.E.B Dubois. His direction of political power never succeeded, except in the case of Irish Americans. All other immigrant groups used the economic power model. Become successful, get educated,start businesses and political influence follows. The Irish were able to achieve political power in big cities, often through the model of Archbishop Hughes’s work in NYC. Blacks could never do this in the post war South and by the time they reached the cities they were at the end of the line. Now it’s time to return to those economic and education roots that Washington outlined 100+ years ago.
