The California Teachers Association jumped on the Occupy Wall Street bandwagon Thursday, throwing the weight of 325,000 state teachers behind the movement for tax fairness and against corporate greed.
Educators are fed up with watching our students and schools go without while banks are being bailed out and the middle class and poor are being shut out, said CTA President Dean Vogel, in a statement. Its time to put Main Street before Wall Street, and for corporations to pay their fair share of taxes.

So, then, you are very opposed to President OTrauma.
Oh, right: No.
..but you don't have a problem pushing out a bunch of mind numbed idiots by giving them passing grades to "move them along"
I’m surprised it took this long for the teacher’s unions and other unions to join the protests.
Public employee unions are always about what group or entity could be forced to pay more taxes so that union jobs are increased and benefits are increased. It is always, and only, about taking money from taxpayers and transferring it to union coffers and to union employees.
The teacher’s union is fixin to go bye bye here in Michigan.
This has all been pre-coordinated. They have a schedule. This movement was started, funded and is controlled by the unions, ACORN, Soros and that crew.
You said, "Pitching a tent." Hehehuheheheuh
teachers union = rats slush fund
Just saw some protestors out by Stanford.
It’s just a remindernof my love/hate relationship with stanford. Hubby and I had just seen a Stanford doctor who was amazing and gave us a lot of hope, and then I saw the stupid protestors on the way home.
And since most of us don't want higher taxes to pay for indoctrinating our children while NOT teaching them how to read - the 'teachers' want money with no stings (voters)... Right?
Teachers are supposed to be smart.
How can smart people not understand that taxing Corporations does not interfere with the Corporations profit.
They merely raise the price on their product and these recalcitrant ignorant teachers pay the taxes in higher costs for the goods they buy.
Corporations pay taxes allright, with money from the Middle class, the poor class and any class who buys a product.
The same can be said for oil company tax deductions take them away. The opil companies will not go broke, they will merely raise their price’s
This message just in from the heroic Occuptation storm troopers in California! “Send toilet paper!” EOM.
Chicago Ford plant workers reject new contract
By: Kate MacArthur October 13, 2011
(Updated 12:45 p.m.)
(Crain’s) Workers at Ford Motor Co.’s Torrence Avenue plant have overwhelmingly rejected a proposed labor contract that would add 1,100 jobs to the facility.
Of 2,317 votes cast by union members, 1,778 voted against ratifying the pact, while 539 voted for it, according to a posting by the UAW Local 551 Communications on its Facebook page. Polls closed at midnight after two days of voting.
Scott Houldieson, secretary-treasurer of UAW Local 551, said he had heard from workers that they did not like the lack of a cost-of-living allowance in the contract and the continuation of a two-tier pay scale.
The proposed Ford contract calls for raising pay over four years for newer workers who make “second-tier” wages. Currently, they make just more than half the pay that veteran production workers get, and the raise would bring them to $19.28 per hour. Still, that’s just about 70% of senior workers’ pay. That wasn’t enough for many voters, Mr. Houldieson said.

Educators are fed up with watching our students and schools go without while banks are being bailed out..”
This must be an NEA talking point. We are being invaded in Detroit starting today and they interviewed some teacher this morning on WJR. She said, “I am tired of banks being bailed out but not the schools and I am angry that I get told to apply for grants!”
What on earth does she think grants are? Idiot.
“Teachers are supposed to be smart.”
Could of fooled me.
