George Will: Cain not running, but 'strolling' for president
Daily Caller ^ | Oct 16, 2011 | Jeff Poor

Posted on 10/16/2011 12:21:48 PM PDT by Clairity

Despite businessman Herman Cain's stunning rise in the polls, conservative columnist George Will said Sunday that Cain does not merit serious attention from President Obama's reelection campaign.

Will said on ABC's "This Week with Christiane Amanpour" that Cain has not shown that he has staying power and that without a traditional campaign infrastructure, it's not clear that he is a serious candidate.

"We're having a kind of Andy Warhol primary where everybody is leader for 15 minutes and Cain's turn today but it's not clear that Cain has staying power," Will said. "He's not running for president, sort of strolling for president without an infrastructure. It's pretty and cute and nice but whether or not it works we can be doubtful."

Will said that President Obama's campaign strategy will be to go after the Republican candidate because his administration's "record isn't particularly appetizing."

How about this Perrybots? How about you drop the smear attack campaign postings and try making a case for your candidate for once?

Odd how the Perrybots and the Romneybots are using the exact same campaign tactics. The never ever make a case FOR their candidate, they merely slander and lie about all the other ones.

So which campaign are you Perrybots actually working for?

the purpose of Free Republic is not for you to put on your own unending campaign for Rick Perry and put up all the anti Cain sources you can find.. it’s getting pathetic especially for us who try to help out the site with our hard earned money.. your guy is the one who called the rest of us “heartless”.. how’s that doing for the poll numbers big guy?

...conservative ... George Will...

Well, see, that's where you went wrong right there. Will's no conservative, he's a crony capitalist.

Well if you’ve earned the contempt of George Will you must be doing something right.

He means Cain hasn’t done what he believes a serious candidate would’ve done by this point.

The rest of that nonsense you accuse of being in Will’s mind?

We can’t read Will’s mind but we know those thoughts are in your mind because you brought them up.

Poor George. Still pining for a “traditional” candidate. Any insider will do, just so long as he’s no threat to the comfy beltway establishment.

I’d rather vote Romney than Perry at this point.. at least he doesn’t have to get his wife out there crying for him about how badly “we” treat him.. pathetic

"He's not running for president, sort of strolling for president..."

If that's the case, then come, let's stroll!

George the RINO Dinosaur.

Wayyyyy past his prime—he thinks the Tea Party involves china.

His recalcitrant ignorance of said Tea Party and its’ currently putting Cain in the White House makes him irrelevant in the extreme. As a big pundit poobah in the elite GOP establishment he and his crusty cronies are going to be rejected by the Tea Party November after next harder than they were last November.

Once again this is the MSM sabotaging the best candidate like they did in 2008 with Fred Thompson. The disturbing part is even conversatives are buying into the BS just like in 2008. Fred had fire in the belly but the lies told so many times by the media made unsuspecting Freepers even believe it. Don’t let it happen again only this time with Cain people...

Cain’s press secretary just quit to take a job with a state level candidate in Louisianna. What does that tell you? I don’t think Cain is serious about winning or governing. Pin your hopes on him if you want but prepare to disappointed by a Perot-type fold in the end.

Keep Perry in Texas where he can accommodate the illegals with the taxpayer’s money as much as he wants and as much as the citizens of Texas want.

Once he called conservatives heartless that was enough for me. There’s no putting that toothpaste back in the tube!

I saw Perry - I heard Perry first hand!

I will support a candidate who has a strong position on not allowing illegals to take over our Country.

What does anyone really know about Perry other then the nice words and platitudes he puts in his speeches?

Well probably more than we currently know about the part time preacher from Antioch Baptist Church North - Atlanta. When they apply the proctoscope to him then we may know a little of his history, associates, dealings, beliefs, etc. Until then we are pretty much clueless.

Could that be why the Perry camp is knowingly lying about Cain’s solidly Conservative record on both social and fiscal issues?

How can someone who has never held public office have a record of any sort, let alone a "solidly Conservative" one?

Or does simply talking about things in the media constitute a "record" nowadays?

Perry sent his wife out to retreat....rather than reload.

Sarah never whined, just reloaded and came out shooting.

I hate girly men.
