Older people should be taxed out of their family homes to free up space for younger generations, says a report backed by Labour.
It argues that 'empty nesters' in their 60s are taking up too much room and should be 'encouraged' by a new 'land tax' to downsize to smaller homes.
The call comes from the Intergenerational Foundation, a left-leaning think-tank that aims to 'promote fairness between generations'.
Labour MP Tessa Jowell sponsored the report's launch in a Commons hospitality room yesterday, saying the current situation ran against Ed Miliband's vision for Britain.
But the 'bedroom blocker' plan drew condemnation from Tory ministers and pressure groups for older people.
Tory housing minister Grant Shapps said: 'We do not agree that people should be taxed or bullied out of their homes.'
The Intergenerational Foundation says there are 25million unused bedrooms in the country and eight million ‘under-occupied’ homes....

The trend is towards pressuring them out of life itself. The ‘state’ has limited resources mind you.
One generation puts their children in day care. That generation then puts their parents in extended care.

And that is the value of an individual is to the state, a resource.
To be used and thrown away when used up.
I know, I didn’t want to get so morbid. But, you are right!
It is what it is.
You know, you may really have something important there. The level of bonding that takes place between families is by no means the same.
I could very easily see how a child that was shoved into day care at the earliest age, and then into the cold embrace of the public school system, might grow up with less affection, sympathy and desire to care for aged parents than a child who grew up in a loving home.

Sounds to me like the leaders of the “inter-generational foundation” need to be lined up and shot.

Alrighty! Go fight a world war or two. Work for 30 years. Save every penny. Build your home, your family, your church, and your community with your bare hands from the ground up. And there you go! Balance between generations.
Now, why would the adult children of this older generation want to push their parents out of their own home. Something tells me this isn’t about intergenerational Britons.
Notice how Liberals no longer feel they need to justify any of their outrageous ideas. All they have to do is to say that their ideas promote “fairness”, without even having to explain how.
I’d say it’s only fair that we kill all leftist “intellectuals”, as their ideas have been extremely detrimental to humanity and human progress. Let’s do it for the spirit of fairness!
Slaves to the state. Usefulness ends when no longer generating taxes.

If it were up to the state, they’d try and find use for people after they died.
I’m sure, with the right amount of drying and heating, people would make great briquettes.
