Is Herman Cain Pro-Life? (Dr. Alveda King)
Priests for Life ^ | Dr. Alveda King

Yes. In our many conversations Mr. Cain has remained solid for life, marriage and family. He is also a successful, practical and solid strategist and problem solver. Please read below:

I’m not going to shoot from the lip on Afghanistan May 15th, 2011 – Herman Cain Ever since the South Carolina Republican presidential debate, reporters have continued to challenge me for not having a specific plan for our nation’s involvement in Afghanistan. They continue to think that if you are running for president then you must have an answer for everything. I don’t! A real leader has the right questions for everything.

When asked about what I would do about our involvement in the war in Afghanistan during the debate, I answered by asking the questions that should have been asked before we got involved many years ago. What is our mission? How does it serve our interest? Is there a path to victory? If not, then what is our exit strategy?

I ask these questions instead of “shooting from the lip” because there is obviously a lot of classified information to which I do not have access. There are dozens of experts and military leaders I would need advice from before I could make an informed decision about a real clear plan for the USA’s involvement in Afghanistan. Similarly, a real clear strategy for every country with which we have relationships would be developed, regardless of whether or not we are involved in a military conflict.

To be clear, I want to be out of Afghanistan and all war-torn countries as much as the next person. But I am not going to propose a half-baked plan based on half the information I would need to make the right decision, just to pretend I know everything. On the other hand, I do know enough about our solid relationship with Israel from decades of observations that I would make it even stronger, which isn’t just about dollars. And, I would not be hesitant to let the rest of the world know that we will stand by and with our friends.

I succeeded in business for over 40 years by asking the right questions of the right people about the right problems to get to the right solutions. That’s what most successful people do, and I would do the same thing as president of the United States of America.

Aside from the fact that I disagree with many of President Obama’s policies, practices and decisions, consider some of the decisions and statements I’m sure he wishes he could do over. He promised to be out of Afghanistan by July 2011, date certain. It’s not going to happen. He wanted to close the Guantanamo military prison facility and put the prisoners, mostly terrorists, in our federal prisons. It didn’t happen.

He said passing the $787 billion stimulus bill (before extenders which pushed the total closer to $1 trillion) would get the unemployment rate back under 8 percent. The unemployment rate has not been under 8 percent since the stimulus bill was passed, and it was recently reported for April at 9.0 percent.

President Obama also said that a lot of the stimulus spending would go toward “shovel-ready” projects, only to admit later that there is no such thing as a shovel-ready project. Maybe he should have asked somebody, or maybe he thought we would not notice. We noticed!

As president, one may not make all the correct decisions, but you improve your success rate if you make decisions based on as much of the right information and advice as you can get. Maybe President Obama has just been getting bad advice. If so, he didn’t surround himself with the right people. Working on the right problems, asking the right questions, surrounding oneself with the right people, and removing barriers to success is real leadership.

It’s much better than shooting from the lip.

FYI – The race for the Republican nomination has taken some definite turns. With Barbour, Huckabee, and Trump all definitely out, there are swift currents flowing and crashing in the sea of uncertanity.

TWO IMPORTANT POINTS. Immorality IS America’s biggest nightmare. Our hope includes electing a God fearing leader. Why isn’t the mainstream media wanting to know more about Herman Cain? Why are they not writing and doing stories on the only black candidate seeking the Republican nomination? Because the mainstream media knows that Herman is a game-changer and will disrupt the entire basis of the Liberal Left’s campaign strategy of 2012 which will be to demonize the Tea Party movement as racist and the establishment Republicans as calloused and indifferent to people of color even as they (the far left) continue to push their policies of abortion, gay marriage, and the “dream green” initiatives that destroy jobs rather than create them. If Herman Cain got the nomination then the liberal left wingers know they are in trouble because Herman Cain will demolish Obama in debates and will take away most of the racial strife planned for next year’s campaign.

Another FYI. Herman has experience in politics. When he ran for the U.S. Senate in Georgia yes he got beat but so did Abraham Lincoln for senate. President Obama likes to compare himself to Lincoln, but Herman has much more in common with Lincoln than President Obama ever did.

More FYI. A few unique points about Herman Cain.

Herman Cain can go into the urban communities with an authority that no other Republican candidate can and ask, are you better off now than you were 4 years ago?

Herman can bring together the factions of the Republican party better than anyone since Ronald Reagan did in 1980.

Herman can reach out to the independent voters and identify with them better than any other Republican candidates.

Herman Cain poses a risk for the mainstream media because of his skin color and he actually grew up in the segregated South as opposed to President Obama’s boyhood.

Now young people who voted for President Obama to make history now can vote for Herman Cain to make even more history as one black American hands over the power of the executive branch to another black American—one who actually knows how to honor God as he runs this great country.

Having said all of this, to restate the answer to the initial question: yes Herman Cain is prolife. No matter who you vote for, vote for life!

And finally: What does it mean when even your critics endorse you?

It won’t matter to those who love to twist, and take out of context, Cain’s statements about abortion, they will keep plugging along with their complete idiocy much to the detriment of their integrity.

Rick Santorum endorsed the fiercely proabort Arlen Specter for senate against the prolife now Sen. Toomey.

It is a sorry sight to see Santorum ending his race as a TOOL of the left.

Everyone is being played by the media... read the transcript.. You can't get much strong than "Abortion under no circumstances"...

..people are twisting what he said after he was asked about raising the children. He wasn't referring to the government not having a say in abortion, he was referring to the choice to raise the child themselves or give it up.

..jeeze, have folks lost all discernment of the nasty, liberal media and forgot how they play us?

...and what was asked that he was responding to? He was asked about raising the children.

Some people here are being played like saps.

The media has done this with all the Conservative candidates, picking them off until their anointed Romney gets the nomination.

"I believe that life begins at conception. And abortion under no circumstances," Cain said. Morgan asked Cain if that meant he felt the procedure was impermissible in cases of rape and incest, which many anti-abortion activists and conservatives carve out exceptions for. Cain reiterated that there were "no circumstances" under which he supported abortion. "If one of your female children, grandchildren was raped, you would honestly want her to bring up that baby as her own?" Morgan asked. Cain said that Morgan was "mixing" questions, but then replied: "No, it comes down to it's not the government's role or anybody else's role to make that decision. Secondly, if you look at the statistical incidents, you're not talking about that big a number. So what I'm saying is it ultimately gets down to a choice that that family or that mother has to make. Not me as president, not some politician, not a bureaucrat. It gets down to that family. And whatever they decide, they decide. I shouldn't have to tell them what decision to make for such a sensitive issue."

Morgan had asked a new question regarding 'bring her up as your own'- Cain was responding to raising the child (versus giving up for adoption). The statement you snipped out was in regards to that, not if abortion should be legal.

You are a broken record. Reading comprehension issues or do you just like to be played like a sap by the media?

We disagree about what he was saying I guess. I have listened to it repeatedly. In my mind it is clear that he does not understand the pro-life position. I won’t call you names, though. I am confident you are well-intentioned but I believe you are mistaken.

You obviously don't know Cain's history. He has been a strong and very vocal pro-life champion including putting millions of dollars of his own money towards pro-life causes.

Under the circumstances - take ‘sand-bagging’ into full effect - it was an excellent answer.

He put it in layman’s terms.... “I personally do NOT like it, but who am I to tell you that you can’t”, I also interpret him saying he will follow the law.

Not really much different than me saying I don’t drink or smoke but that is my CHOICE, and since it is legal and you decide to do it, far be it from me to say you can’t - and, like it or not, abortion is presently legal and will be till the Supreme Court reverses it ruling.

So are you going to call me pro choice because I am allowing YOU to make your own choice of a legal activity.

He definitely echoed what I have been saying for years, “It isn’t (or wasn’t meant to be) the governments business to mess with the day to day activities of us citizens”.

I got this e-mail from the Cain camp about an hour ago:

Dear Friends,

The abortion issue is very serious. I believe strongly that this is true, and I believe that you do too.

Because the news media loves to make mountains out of mole hills, I want to be very clear about where I stand on abortion:

I am 100% pro-life, period.

Let me explain. In an interview yesterday with Piers Morgan on CNN, I was asked questions about abortion policy and the role of the President.

If you listen to the line of questioning, it is clear that Mr. Morgan was asking if I, as president, would simply “order” people to not seek an abortion.

My answer was focused on the role of the President. The President has no constitutional authority to order any such action by anyone. That was the point I was trying to convey.

As to my political view on abortion...again, I am pro-life. End of story.

As President, I will appoint judges who understand the original intent of the Constitution. Judges who are committed to the rule of law know that the Constitution contains no right to take the life of unborn children.

I will oppose government funding of abortion. I will veto any legislation that contains funds for Planned Parenthood. I will do everything that a President can do, consistent with his constitutional role, to advance the culture of life.

Friends, please know that I appreciate all of your support. Together, we will put America back on the right track.

Sincerely,
Herman Cain

Cain's media problem is that he speaks like an actual human being. He's not talking like a focus-group-tested automaton as the professional candidates do.

He's getting savaged by the gotcha media, gotcha bloggers, gotcha opposition.

The whole process is a turn off. It drives a wedge between candidate and voter by forcing candidates to be tightly scripted rather than genuine.

Yes, in an essence like Adm Stockdale in his ‘debate’ with Dan Quayle and algore.

The “Good Adm” tried to give intelligent, thought out answers and got ‘ravaged’ by the two twerps who couldn’t carry his jock and didn’t ‘deserve’ to be on the same stage as him.

I certainly hope Herman Cain doesn’t get to his ‘What am I doing here’ moment, because I am afraid if we get ‘stuck’ with Romney, we are going to be screwed into another 4 years of BO.

Which is why it is imperative we keep the house (and build the lead) and at least get a majority in the Senate so maybe, just maybe, we can hold the damage to a minimum.

Oh yes and that disrespectful Brit telling Cain he can’t hide behind his race and referred to him as the “Pizza Guy”. Wouldn’t be so bad but the MSM and Libs go ballistic when BO is referred to as the “Magic Negro” and am sure all have heard how joebiden’s handlers hustled him away from a reporter when asked a ‘direct’ question and you can hear the broad asking “who are you with”?

Bunch of hypocritical SOB’s - this whole Liberal movement.
