“Big Brother is Listening To Phone Calls And Reading Text Messages”‏
The Silent Majority ^ | 10-28-11 | J.D. Longstreet

On November 9th, 2011 Americans will get an up close and personal demonstration of the new powers the US government has given itself over America’s broadcast services.

There will be a complete take over of the nation’s air waves, both television and radio – plus — cable television systems, wireless cable systems, satellite digital audio radio service (SDARS) providers, and direct broadcast satellite (DBS) providers. The power to do this is now in the hands of the President. Only he has the authority to do this.

On November 9th there will be a test of how effectively the system will work whenever the President decides he must speak to the American people reference an emergency that threatens the nation.

Who exactly, decides when there is a national emergency? I would expect it to be the President himself.

I am a 30-year veteran of the broadcast business (retired) and this sends chills up and down my spine. I have visions of Big Brother taking control of the nation’s broadcast systems any time the President feels the need.

But that is not the worst of my concerns.

There is no such thing as “privacy” in America any longer. The moment I press “send” on my e-mail, the government scans it. Every time I make a phone call, whether on my land line, or my cell phone, the government monitors it. If I send a fax on an instant message, the government scans the wording of the fax. If and when I send a text message, the government reads it, too. UNBELIEVABLE, right? Believe it.

This is a combined project referred to as “Echelon” (or The Echelon Network – sometimes called “The Five Eyes.”) involving the US,

What do you expect? We’re in a time when communication and data transfers are all people do. If it’s available to the public, it’s available to whoever has the means to retrieve it. You can still use a radio, at least until your frequency is determined. It just all goes back to the original secure communication...person-to-person.

Is the Emergency Alert System (EAS) included in this?

The Weather Channel transmitted an erroneous tornado alert EAS for Howard County, Maryland, a couple of days ago. There was no apology or correction made and no mention in the local media. I’m wondering if it was a pre-test of the test-test.

Imagine how isolated senior citizens might have been adversely affected - were they? Only the shadow knows!

Someone answer me this. If this system is so damn important, why wasn’t the Emergency Broadcast System used on 9-11? As far as natl emergencies go, I would put 9-11 firmly in that category. Also, if it wasn’t used then why do we need it now?

Looks like I’ll still be able to use my cell phone as a wi-fi hotspot, unimpeded.

“On November 9th there will be a test of how effectively the system will work whenever the President decides he must speak to the American people reference an emergency that threatens the nation.”

It was someone here, or somewhere else on the web that points out - Tests are done at 4am. Times when it is the least inconvenience to people. This will be conducted in the middle of the day. It’s not a “Test”. It’s a “Demonstration”.

Ya, the Fed’s have contracted 315 Million Chinese to monitor the communications of 315 Million Americans...

Do I hate the notion of Obama turning everything off?
Absolutely!

Do I believe it’s an indication that all communications are monitored?
No!

Wonderful, here is my conversations that big brother can eavesdrop:

1) Wife complaining I’m watching too much football
2) Friends and I complaining about the latest Syracuse loss
3) Wife telling to pick up food items from HEB on my way home
4) Friends and I making plans on how much beer we should get for our latest tailgate party
5) Wife telling my NOT to come and drunk and expect some action.
6) Friends and I swapping web sites that have the hottest women
7) Wife bitching about her co-workers
8) Friends and I secretly planning to go to BoneDaddies after the game.
9) Wife complaining about her mother
10) Wife calling me and wondering why I’m not home yet!!!

Read “The Shadow Factory” and get back to us on your belief. I personally think this test is just that, a test of an emergency system. But the NSA has been monitoring and recording all digital communications for years now.

"Do I believe it’s an indication that all communications are monitored? No!"

Look into the program called Carnivore and you might change that No to a Yes. From Wikipedia: Carnivore was a system implemented by the Federal Bureau of Investigation that was designed to monitor email and electronic communications. It used a customizable packet sniffer that can monitor all of a target user's Internet traffic. Carnivore was implemented in October 1997 and replaced in 2005 with improved commercial software such as NarusInsight.

Yes they can. They use computers. They have been doing this since Clinton was prez. I'm a retired SBC employee. They have been working on this for over a decade.

Try to remember back when cell phones were forced into the digital age. When they required you to trade in your analog phone for digital, that's when you went on the system. EVERYTHING had to become digital. All traffic goes through fiber rings now that can be monitored as needed. They have key words to hit on and it saves the communication for human consumption. If it looks suspicious, you get a visit. I'm sure that what we say here is monitored, but people just can't imagine that what they say on their cell phone is also. If you look at places like China, why don't we think the US can't do the same thing.

I'm not saying it's foolproof, but every word is monitored. By using code, such as bomb=bird, or shoot=paint, you could get by with a terrorist message most likely.

Once your message is digitized and in the fiber, we can single out each stream and monitor it just like we can find out who you are with a MAC address and IP. The person that monitors the line can be in Houston, DC, or Mexico City, it doesn't matter. That's why when you call in for trouble, the person on the line is never where you are. Many are in Pakistan or India. They can test your line digitally while you are on it. Someone in Moscow can turn on your webcam and see your face while you are typing. Please unplug your mic when not in use. This tech is not new. They may be just indicating that the system is now complete with this "so called" test.

I guess the question now is, when will the system become "self aware"?

Weird concidence isn’t it?

Someone pointed that out on another website.

Someone in Moscow can turn on your webcam and see your face while you are typing.

A tiny square of duct tape precludes that possibility.
