Since Sunday's initial report of past sexual harassment allegations, GOP presidential contender Herman Cain's campaign has finally made a smart decision. Mrs. Gloria Cain, the candidate's wife of over 40 years, has cancelled a scheduled appearance on Friday night's edition of On the Record With Greta Van Susteren.

According to reports, Mrs. Cain left the door open to appearing on the Fox News Channel program in the future, but thankfully we won't be seeing another political wife under the heat of the national spotlight trying to defend her husband while the facts of a potential scandal are still murky.

Some of the behavior of so-called “conservatives” against this good man and his family is just, well, it leaves me absolutely speechless at times. I really hope they are proud of themselves, these agents of darkness and purveyors of slime and smear. /sarc

This was a great decision. Mrs. Cain is not a political being - she is an intelligent, soft-spoken, caring homemaker. She has made it clear that she does not want to be out in front in this campain. She does not need to be thrust into the limelight with the potential for a media hit or enless loop of edited soundbites. I applaud this move. Mrs. Cain is far too classy to be utilized as a media diversion.

These kind of scandal sheet stories are what Greta lives for. The Cains should stay far far away from Greta, and they need to stop answering questions about it all together, and get back on topic.

Yea, it looks like Cain is finally putting this smear behind him. By next week it will be old news.

It, this “scandal” has fizzled like a fart in a windstorm and is already on the down slope and losing traction. The editors will abandon soon as “old news” in favor of something new for the next cycle. The only NEW news will be WHO leaked it and how they will suffer for it politically. Other than that, yes, case closed, back on message, back on offense, back on narrative for TEAM CAIN. And not a day too early!!!

She has class, not need to get into the gutter with these people.

Here’s a question I would like Cain, and all of the other candidates to answer, and it ain’t a hard question: Have you ever cheated on your spouse?

“The Cains should stay far far away from Greta”

Isn’t Van Sustern supporting Cain?

It it's always a good move to avoid tossing a loved one into a media "blender set to frappe"...

That is not, quite frankly, any of your business. It is a matter for the candidates and their wives. Now, have you cheated on your partner...please tell all of us on here so that we know your personal business.

The people have a right, an indisputable, unalienable, indefeasible, divine right to that most dreaded and envied kind of knowledge, I mean, of the character and conduct of their rulers.

ok, so if he cheated on his wife, what would that mean for you? Would it affect how he governs?

I'm not trying to weasel out of answering you. It's just that Adams puts it best.....

I have received from Major-General Hull and BrigadierGeneral Walker your unanimous address from Lexington, animated with a martial spirit, and expressed with a military dignity becoming your character and the memorable plains on which it was adopted. While our country remains untainted with the principles and manners which are now producing desolation in so many parts of the world; while she continues sincere, and incapable of insidious and impious policy, we shall have the strongest reason to rejoice in the local destination assigned us by Providence. But should the people of America once become capable of that deep simulation towards one another, and towards foreign nations, which assumes the language of justice and moderation while it is practising iniquity and extravagance, and displays in the most captivating manner the charming pictures of candor, frankness, and sincerity, while it is rioting in rapine and insolence, this country will be the most miserable habitation in the world; because we have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Avarice, ambition, revenge, or gallantry, would break the strongest cords of our Constitution as a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.

I won't vote for another adulterer.

Gloria Cain does not need to appear.

Her presence as a grand lady speaks for itself--and speaks volumes!

Hmmm... that's troubling. Maybe her husband needs to find another line of work?
