And You Thought the Penn State Sex Abuse Scandal Couldn't Get Any Worse!

Jerry Sandusky: the flags were there all along

The list of enablers seems to grow by the minute... the beloved JoePa may now even face charges himself for not reporting Sandusky.  Then there's the crimes themselves: suffice to say, the kind that get you killed your first week in prison. What an unmitigated nightmare for sleepy State College, Pa, the entire NCAA, and above all the victims.

But the sad fact this case could get a whole lot uglier...

Obviously there's more questions than answers at this point: like how the wife, family, and Penn State associates of Jerry Sandusky all justified covering for such hideous crimes. About the only ones not asking these things might be the mob of morally-retarded Penn State fans who actually rioted over the firing of Paterno yesterday.

But recall that the OSU Buckeyes lost Jim Tressel earlier this year because he covered for players selling a couple jerseys… what did they possibly expect at Penn State, then. Paterno had plenty of warnings, and somehow just didn’t do the right thing. Get over it, Penn State fans- a luxury the victims -who may number as many as 17- will probably never enjoy.

What now?

One thing people are talking about today is how the initial 1998 investigation into the vile predatory habits of Jerry Sandusky went nowhere. All of us -along with all his subsequent targets- are left wondering why nothing ever happened when there'd been firsthand witnesses and even a direct admission.

Seems that thirteen years ago when Center Country DA
Ray Gricar was working the case against Sandusky, he quite mysteriously failed to ever bring charges, despite the wealth of evidence...  but it doesn't look like anybody's going to get to ask him about it, except for St Peter maybe:

Ray Gricar, the Centre County DA at the time of the 1998 investigation into Victim 6's allegations, has been missing since 2005 and was declared legally dead in July of this year.

We may never know why Gricar did not press charges against Sandusky, despite Sandusky's admissions—per the grand jury report—that he had showered naked with the boy and hugged him.

Ray Gricar (Deadspin)

The hard drive from Gricar's computer turned up on the banks of the Susquehanna River six months after his disappearance, according to this story Ganim wrote three years ago, when she was still at the State College, Pa.-based Centre County Daily Times. Whatever was on that hard drive will forever be the subject of speculation now...

Gricar just as mysteriously went missing after telling his girlfriend he was to go for a day off drive in the park... the DA was never seen nor heard from again. His Red Mini Cooper was found soon afterward, cellphone still on the seat.

Investigators said internet searches conducted from Ray Gricar's house on that day he vanished in 2005 include "how to wreck a hard drive" and "water damage to notebook computer", among other things. Three months after Gricar's disappearance, his government-issued notebook was found by a fisherman, sans hard drive. Three months after that, that heavily damaged hard drive was found along the same river's banks. The tough Gricar had just busted a major heroin ring, and was at the crest of his career- why on Earth would he be afraid to go after a child molester?

Recall a few years back, where they busted that Belgian child-sex ring... one that not only swapped playthings amongst themselves -often their own children- but enforced the security of the operation with violent, mafia-style manipulation and even vengeance killings?

Seems this case is beginning to acquire a similar stench... Sandusky certainly had his helpers, and now perhaps we'll be finding out who all they were, as well as just how far they were willing to go to protect the oh-so-very sick and dangerous Jerry Sandusky.

"As a family sociologist, demographer, and marriage and family therapist, he was the founding editor of the Journal of Family Issues.[4] Spanier was also an author of a study in the Archives of Sexual Behavior concerning the practice of mate swapping, or "swinging".[5]"

Hmmmm.....

Joe Paterno fired Sandusky . . . ahem, "allowed Sandusky to resign" in 1999 - even though Sandusky had done excellent professional work and was nowhere near normal retirement age.

I find it hard to believe that anything other than these kind of allegations (the ones initially investigated by the police in 1998) motivated Paterno to cut Sandusky loose from official involvement in the program.

That means that Paterno knew what was going on with Sandusky definitely by 1998.

But even after Sandusky resigned, Paterno remained on the board of Sandusky's creepy charity, he still allowed Sandusky and his victims unrestricted access to Penn State athletic facilities and he still allowed Penn State's football program to promote Sandusky's foundation.

Joe Paterno has enabled Sandusky in his victimization of children for, at minimum, 13 years - and probably much longer than that.

Paterno should rightfully die in prison.

"Penn State athletic director Tim Curley and Gary Schultz, the school’s vice president for business and finance, were charged with perjury and failure to report the allegations.

Curley and Schultz each face up to seven years in prison if convicted.

The Penn State Board of Trustees announced after a late Sunday emergency meeting that Curley had requested administrative leave so he could devote time to his defense. Schultz said he would step down and go back into retirement. "

No one mentions, buy I want to know about Sandusky’s wife. She HAD to know. All these years ... and they adopted 5 boys!

Sandusky has been ordered to stay away from his grandchildren. I heard that his kids requested it.

You know, data recovery has evolved eons beyond where it was in 2005. Wonder if this thing is still in an evidence room somewhere?

That was my first thought, too.

Here's a couple of interesting items from Paterno's history:

"After serving a year in the Army, he attended Brown University; his tuition was paid for by Busy Arnold.[5]"

There are about 47,000 students at Penn State this year alone. A small number of them protesting. The vast majority of them or alumni had NOTHING to do with any of this.

A small number were protesting in favor of Paterno.

And an even smaller number (zero) were out there protesting for his ouster.

do many people realize that graham spanier,
the psu president who was fired was
a family therapist whose specialty was
in study of mate-swapping and swingers.
written books on it, but don’t know if he
was pro or con! thought that was an
unusual background for college president
not at actual ivy league school.

“As the Sandusky investigation moves forward, questions will be asked anew about why Gricar did not pursue charges against him 13 years ago.”

I’m sorry to admit, but when I couple this article with the other article about the latest “rumor” of Sandusky and the charity making minors “available” to others, I’m getting some VERY creepy vibes about this Gricar guy. Maybe totally unfounded, but what IS a possible explanation for Gricar having PROOF (an admission!) that Sandusky did this in 1998, yet declining to prosecute him? Was he part of the coverup? If that’s possible...then why?

I know. It’s haunting as hell and just about all I’m thinking about for an entire day! And my thinking is imaging why he would be involved in this cover up except to cover his own ass. I’m sick.
