He is the booming voice of the Occupy protests, encouraging activists to continue their battle against the wealthy one per cent of Americans.
But it seems left-wing documentary maker Michael Moore has been uncharacteristically quiet about one thing: his own wealth.
While Moore has denied he is among the top-earners in the country, tax records show he owns an extensive property in one of the country’s most elite communities.
Moore owns the large holiday home on Torch Lake, Michigan in addition to his pricey Manhattan residence.
The spacious 10,000 sq ft property is a far cry from the scene of tightly-packed tents near Wall Street in New York City.
The sprawling timber property has large bay windows, a number of small turrets, a private drive and decking that leads right to the water’s edge.
It is located on the southeastern shore of Torch Lake, regarded by locals as the ‘third most beautiful lake in the world’.
Moore's neighbours include Hollywood stars such as Bruce Willis, Madonna and Tim Allen all have homes here. He also shares the stunning views with corporate executives loathed by Occupy protestors, including ex-Chrysler Chairman Bob Eaton....

I like Grand Marais Michigan.
I believe it, Michigan is a very beautiful state. I am not sure where Traverse City and Torch Lake are located but we have been to Michigan 3 times deer hunting. I am big on driving around and looking at the country so I have been over much of your state. We wanted to go across the bridge to the UP but it was getting dark and starting to snow so we stayed on the south shore.
The article says he owns property on Park Avenue in NY. Looking at some of the real estate listings for Park Ave apartments and I realize that the place on Torch lake is cheap compared to some of the park ave apartments.
You can pick up this little place for a mere $23 million.

I have a sister who has a summer home in Bellaire and I tried unsuccessfully to locate his house on Torch Lake.
If find it ironic that it finally showed up on the Daily Mail.........LOL!
It’s a butt ass ugly house which fits Moore quite well. I wouldn’t take it if it was given to me.
The ironic thing is the soviets would have declared him a exploiter of the people and had him shot or even better packed off to a Siberian labor camp

Well, if for some reason it, or any similar house, is given to you, I stand ready to take it off your hands.
I take it these are their “bug-out havens” for when the “system” crashes.
Wonder if they all have dried food, weapons, stacks of toilet paper, generators, etc.
Might be interesting if folks around there get “needy” in a time of crisis.

Oh, I know that view! There is nothing else like Christmas Eve in Grand Marais. At the Methodist church, they do all the Christmas carols and all the parts in harmony.
