We ALL know that it is a stupid practice but there is no convincing them and it isn’t worth the effort to try.
I find a simple act of piety serves to smooth over any ruffled feelings. When we’re saying Grace I always conclude, “And thanks, God, for not making me a brain-dead liberal like all the rest of my stupid family, especially my drunk Cousin Jake, who just dropped cranberry sauce on Fluffy, and may he stop bleeding real soon now. Amen.” It seems to take politics off the table.
I always put my liberal guests at the children’s table. Also I make sure it is wobbly so one of the kids is sure to spill their glass of milk. Hee-heh
Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter are the opportunities I get to have with the liberals I have in my family w/o strife. I know them and they know me, so there’s no point in arguing. This bunch you have in DUFunnies can’t help themselves and start arguing, well they find that nobody invites them anymore and spend the holidays home alone. Boo hoo.

I now know how all the Communist revolutions found useful idiots so easily. Useful idiots who would not hesitate to turn me into the authorities for laughing at Stalin or not celebrating his birthday.
I actually enjoy most of my liberal relatives. I’ve found that the worse the economy gets, the more open they are to learning to take care of themselves.

Yeah. Something like work and getting up and moving around is usually required to bring on a heart attack. Sitting there on your ass doing nothing is usually a sign of heartburn.

Our son flew back from LV to spend the holiday with us. Monday being our anniversary, we waited until last night to celebrate with him. Tonight, with my wife closing the store, he and I headed for our local pizza restaurant where I introduced him to the owner and we spent 3 great hours trading stories, enjoying a few beers, and having fun. Tomorrow, he and I are doing the stuffing and cheddar potatoes while my wife does the turkey. Others are bringing the balance of the feast.
Why people want to grumble and go crazy over this holiday, when it makes it possible for family to get together in love, is beyond me. My son is more liberal than I am, but he’s younger and is coming around. One of the people we spent time with tonight is pretty liberal, but it was spent in old stories and good friendship.
People like these DUmmies show just how insignificant they are to human interaction. !!HAPPY THANKSGIVING!! to all, and to all a safe holiday.
