Meghan McCain, MSNBC's newly hired contributor, conducted her first interview for the cable news network on Wednesday with Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann.
McCain--who in January called Bachmann "a poor man's Sarah Palin" on MSNBC--said that the interview will air "soon" on "Now With Alex Wagner," the network's lunch hour show.
On Lawrence O'Donnell's "Last Word" in January, McCain took vigorous issue with Bachmann's tea-party rebuttal to President Obama's State of the Union. "I think it's important to note that Michele Bachmann is not a leader, and she's not the leader of the Repbulican Party," McCain said. "Michele Bachmann is no better than a poor man's Sarah Palin.
"I think CNN should be ashamed of themselves for airing this," McCain added. "It is one rogue woman who couldn't even look into the camera directly."
While McCain's harsh comments about Bachmann had the potential to make the interview uncomfortable, the sit-down with a high-profile GOP candidate could be designed to help quiet critics who say McCain is not a "real journalist."
Last month, MSNBC named McCain as a paid contributor shortly before NBC News announced the hiring of Chelsea Clinton....

While McCain's harsh comments about Bachmann had the potential to make the interview uncomfortable, the sit-down with a high-profile GOP candidate could be designed to help quiet critics who say McCain is not a "real journalist."People who claim to be objective (i.e., journalists) are insufferably self-righteous and extremely tendentious. Why would anyone think that Meghan McCain wouldn't fit right in with that bunch!
Leave it to MSNBC to hire the fat little air head.
Why in the world did Michele Bachmann do this?
Exactly. Why would MB give the Chubby One any credibility?
To me, it makes MB look desperate for media attention.

Good to see you here, c_I_c. Between the Journo-List and Meghan McCain...well...you get the message. YOU have always gotten the message.
I agree. No republican/conservative should do an interview with her. Let her wither & die on the vine.
Because, bless her heart, she's a poor man's Sarah Palin who is not smart enough or tough enough to be the candidate, much less President.
First Jimmy Fallon. Now Michele does this? She is not showing good judgement.
Dumb move on Bachmann’s part.
Glad McCain is on MSNBC however. It’s where she belongs...and guarantees I will never see her.
Which is a blessing.

Well, Palin made some stupid interview decisions too

Good questions. From gbtv and Glenn Beck to MSNBC and Megan McCain within 48 hours.
Good question, PalmettoMason (forgot to put you in the “to” box).

I keep asking that same question about most Republicans' choice of media appearances.
There are plenty of objective hosts that will provide intelligent venues.
If you treat the lefties and airheads like they are irrelevant, that's exactly what they will be.
