For a moment, imagine a future where you are not able to drive a car, get on a plane, get on a train, vote, enter a federal building, open a bank account or get a job without a national ID card. You don't think that could ever happen in America? Well, you might want to brush up on the Real ID Act because it is going to go into effect on May 11, 2011 unless something is done to stop it. When I first learned this, I was absolutely stunned. After all, wasn't the Real ID Act supposed to be "dead"? A few years ago state legislatures across the nation were in an uproar over this law. The Department of Homeland Security was forced to delay implementation of it several times. But now it is back. You see, this is what the federal government often does. They will try to push something very unpopular through, and if they meet resistance they will "play dead" until the uproar has died down and then they will come right back and implement it anyway. This is what is happening with the Real ID Act.

As of May 11, all driver's licenses across the United States will be required to conform to federal national security standards. In essence, our licenses are now going to be federalized.

I hope it doesn’t come down to a speech like that...

I prefer this quote by Reagan...

“I know in my heart that man is good. That what is right will always eventually triumph. And there’s purpose and worth to each and every life.”

That doesn’t mean that in the short term the bad guys can’t win or the good people have to pay.

Their are some really ugly things going on right now and the margin for error is very small.

Well first off we went nearly 200 years without the central govt feeling the serious need to identify someone on the spot, 24/7 from 5 different angles.

But let’s cut the bull, this ain’t about identifying citizens, this is about tracking them with biometrics, and once tracked the next step is controlled. As Ayn Rand so correctly observed, if you have nothing to hide they’ll pass enough laws till you do have something to hide.

My guess is that the last time you had a pic taken, they used a real film camera. This time, they had switched to digital, which uses different equipment, hence the brighter flash lamps and the “hard” contrast. The change in distance probably has to do with different requirements for the new digital DL, much like a passport photo has to be certain proportions for facial recognition software to work.

Iris and retina scans are fairly intrusive, from a security perspective, so they’re not generally used in public situations like a driver’s license. It’s far more likely that they just got a different, digital camera which needs different lighting and a different focal length to get good shots. At worst, they’re doing facial recognition scanning after the fact, which they can pretty much do anywhere anyway (ATMs, the toll plazas on the Bush turnpike, the entry foyer of any government building).

his point is not that this is the end times, it is that all the technology that does this proves that the end times prophesy of taking a mark to buy or sell is real and quite possible NOW

This ID is NOT the mark, the mark of the antichrist will be 666 and done for the purpose of being a world wide mark, not a local one

but the point remains, we are already at the mindset where we need a mark of some kind for security reasons

wait until you need it to buy bread...and I don’t mean your debit card

The term for “mark”, means a “branding or inscription”. It will be an obvious tatoo that has the name of the “beast”. There might be some “chipping” involved to interface with economic control systems but the coming “beast system” will want it obvious just who in large crowds has the mark and who doesn’t. It makes them easy to be gathered and killed that way!

No. Wrong. Sorry.

Giving FedGov more power is never good, never results in better anything.

It is the responsibilty of the states to monitor elections, require state ID and such.

I asked the attendant "did this take my retina scan?" She said yes. (biometric identification)

Not only that, but the pen they had you sign the application with actually had a device that captured some of your skin cells (painlessly, so you wouldn't notice) in order to get a sample of your DNA. So between your retinal scan and your DNA, they'll be able to prepare your RFID chip (to track you by satellite) for implantation the next time you go through a TSA screening line.

A Voter ID law was passed in Texas this last session however, it is being challenged by the FEDGOV and probably won’t be used in the March primaries.
